  • "The accommodation was brilliant, everything in the cottage made for a warm and comfortable stay."

Lovely touch with books and maps and welcome biscuits! However- the description of Little Winder implied that it was on the edge of Askham which was misleading as it was 2 miles outside the village and the narrow road and then the single rutted farm track with areas of deep unavoidable pot- holes was not at all pleasant and inhibited us returning to the cottage as much as we would have liked.

Thank you for your feedback, especially regarding the accommodation. We are sorry that Sykes misleadingly describe us as being on the edge of Askham. We will ask them again to alter this to accurately describe our location. The 'farm track' as you describe it had taken a battering due to the bad weather and the animals that the Lowther Estate keep on the fields as part of their 'Rewilding' campaign. These pot holes have since been filled by the maintenance team from the Lowther Estate that own the road. Property Owner

  • "Had a fantastic week at Little Winder, it is ideally situated to be able to walk to Pooley Bridge (approx 1 hour), and backs onto Askham Fell."

It was amazing to look oit of the window to watch red squirrels and woodpeckers feeding. The kitchen is well equipped, and the tv set up with wi-fi to link into whatever apps you want to watch. Must have enjoyed it as I booked to return while there!

  • "This cottage ticked absolutely every box for us."

We had a fantastic stay with our two little dogs. It was soooo comfy & relaxing and watching 4 red squirrels munching on their breakfast as we ate ours was just lovely. If you are after a peaceful, quiet stay with the most idyllic view then this is the cottage. At night you can see the lights of Penrith twinkling down the fell. It is magical. Wi fi was brilliant, l know given the peaceful & tranquil setting we shouldn't need it but it was spot on. The owners are easy to contact and very approachable & helpful. The best we have ever stayed in & we will visit again (& again). Liz & Patrick.

Thank you so much for such great feedback. We look forward to you coming again. Property Owner

  • "We had such a brilliant stay at Little Winder, the cottage was perfect for us and our little dog."

We enjoyed walks from the door step, (Including Athur’s Pike and Bonscale Pike) watched the red squirrels playing in the trees from the window and slept peacefully after days of hiking. The location and views from the cottages was superb. The cottage itself has a good sized entrance hall to take off your walking gear and a shared drying room next door to hang anything wet out on the heaters. The Amazon TV was great and we just logged into our Netflix in the evening or watched the free view channels from the comfy sofa. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook tea each night, there isn’t a freezer on its own just a small compartment in the fridge but we only needed ice so no issue for us. The bed was big and comfortable, the shower was compact but lovely and powerful and hot. There was a secure dog field to let the dog off the lead and have a good play. The hosts were brilliant, made sure we had everything we needed and left us a welcome gift which was such a nice touch. We would definitely stay again.

Thank you Siobhan for taking the time to review Little Winder, we are pleased you had a great stay and enjoyed exploring the walks from the doorstep. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future to carry on exploring . Property Owner
