  • "People should be informed that the village pub has restricted opening days and that it is not dog friendly."

The actual accommodation is very pleasant and is surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Should state kitchen and back bedroom are overlooked by neighbours garden which is very off putting even though the neighbour doesn’t look in I found it to be quite intrusive Information file needs to be where it can be seen and not hidden under a whole load of leaflets as I had to work out how to use oven and hob as I’d never used one of those at all same with the heating

  • "We loved every minute of our stay."

The cottage is small in size but perfect for us and our retriever Seren and we have already recommended it to our family. It was cosy, clean and welcoming and with comfy beds plus all the equipment we needed. There are lovely walks nearby and loads of interesting places to explore within reasonable reach. Good internet and TV in both bedrooms and the lounge - it was almost a shame the weather was so warm as the log burner looked very inviting and there was a plentiful supply of dry logs. We hope to be back !

  • "It is a lovely cottage, it is small, exceptionally clean and well maintained, the rear garden a little strange,as in being offset to the house,we realise this can be the quaintness of a lovely cottage ,we found moving the table into the kitchen helpful for two people and still room in the kitchen, I would suggest moving table into kitchen, and the dresser unit into the living room (swap plaçes) I do realise these can be teething problems."

  • "We were disappointed with our stay here."

The cottage is very tiny. There is a folding dining table & chairs provided but really no space to put it. The double bedroom has limited space to walk by the window side & at the bed & at the bottom of the bed. The kitchen window overlooks a well planned seated garden which you discover is next doors. When you open the kitchen door the small sloping garden that greets you is overlooked by the other neighbours kitchen window, there wasn't any where to sit out at the rear. To the front is a small patio area with seating & a table but no lawn as that is next doors! However, the cottage is extremely well thought out & been designed to very high standards. Using every possible bit of space to its advantage. You have to appreciate the quirky character of it & it is in the most wonderful area with the sounds skylarks, curlews & the local peacocks.

I really enjoyed my stay there. The cottage had everything I needed. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway or for a base to walk and explore the North Pennines and Waerdale. The key box was a little tricky to open and close.

  • "Fab cottage in picturesque village, had everything we needed."

Beautifully decorated and quality bedding, towels and furnishings. Friendly and helpful neighbours. Riverside walks from the doorstep and nearby. Cross Keys pub in nearby Eastgate, dog friendly, lovely beer garden and great food, pub in Westgate village only open weekends and no dogs allowed inside. Lots to do in the area. Stanhope has good butchers, greengrocers, bakery and other shops.

  • "Cottage was clean, comfortable and everything I wished for."

However it was advertised with bike storage and this was the main reason for choosing this cottage. There is a garden shed which would have been acceptable for bike storage had it been empty. However the shed is full of materials and therefore unusable for bikes.

  • "Had a lovely week at this little, beautifully renovated cottage."

Lovely walks straight from the door along the river, and in local woodland. The surrounding area is gorgeous and if you like walking there are plenty of walks to be had. Lovely little villages, and eateries. Our only concern was that hot water was a little tricky to get and maybe a dishwasher would have been a better solution (rather than the washing machine - which I bet doesnt get used very often). But that said it didnt take away from our lovely holiday, and we would definitely like to return soon. Thank you to the owners.

Located in a quiet place, far from main road, but what's more important once inside, no noise came from the neighbours and was really warm. It was clean and cosy with really nice views and we felt there extremely well. Big thank you to the owners who made it so guest-friendly.
