  • "Comfortable, quiet surroundings, easy access to all amenities, friendly neighbours."

  • "The property had not been made ready for our arrival."

Beds not made or cleaned. The cottage itself is basic and in need of a deep clean and revamp. Cutlery was basic and small, the pans are all marked from excessive wear, oven trays greasy. Tie backs on kitchen curtains had one missing. The decor is dark which makes the cottage appear very dark and required more downstairs lamps. The bathroom had black mould round the bath and the seat on the toilet is really stained. The bath towels are small white ones which are very passed it and the bedding sheets washed out and poor. The people who live here are lovely, very friendly and helpful. This is a lovely positioned cottage in a good area for exploring what a shame it is not presented for guests to enjoy to it's full capacity. Attention to detail really counts in holiday let's.

  • "The cottage is in a lovely little culdesac, right opposite the railway station."

It was very clean and well presented. The neighbours are really friendly and we will definitely come back to visit the area and hopefully stay in October Cottage. There are many walks and facilities nearby, and a lovely pub and restaurant within walking distance. All in all, it’s a great place for the serious walkers , families and just to wind down. A real gem of a find

  • "The cottage is in a lovely location and is well provisioned, however the lack of a properly working shower in a property that only has one bathroom is unforgivable in this century."

We had booked for 4 people, but two of the party left for alternative accomodation after the first day when it became clear that after a day walking in very hot conditions, a refreshing warm shower was not possible. Once the property owner confirmed that they would not be resolving this issue during our stay two of the guests left feeling very dissapointed.

  • "A wonderful week away in this comfortable cottage tucked away in a courtyard."

Very dog friendly with no frills so you don’t have to worry about taking a pet. The cottage has everything you require. Situated in a very peaceful location in a beautiful village with fantastic scenery. Close to the railway station so you can hop on a train to Skipton or Morecambe. The Yorkshire Dales, the Forest of Bowland and the Lake District are all within easy reach. Friendly neighbours on hand if you need any local information. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • "The cottage could have been cleaned more thoroughly, evidence of pet hairs in room and cobwebs in many places."

Parking is not ideal but manageable. All in all not a bad stay, neighbours were very friendly and helped to make it better.

  • "October Cottage is situated near train station (trains are very infrequent so we never heard them) within a very friendly community."

I will miss all neighbours we have met! The village is 1 mile away and if you fancy walking, there is a pavement all the way to the village. It should take you about 20 minutes to reach it. I used mainly buses and trains with my kids to move around which we found great. Shop in the village is very well stocked. You can order Sainsburys delivery to the cottage or visit Booth supermarket in Settle. Playground in Clapham is superb and was always quiet. Finally cottage. It is clean throughout and the kitchen is well equipped. Shower runs well and there is a full size bath if you fancy that. I found beds comfortable, we all slept very well.

  • "Cottage seems more spacious than the pictures."

Bedrooms have comfy beds and pillows. However, the curtains are very thin and do nothing to block the sun out. Thicker curtains would be highly recommended. Well equipped kitchen and great to have a good selection of DVD’s to watch in the evening. Although you can’t park right outside the cottage, the designated parking is just round the corner of the group of cottages so barley any distance. The neighbours are friendly and helpful, offering advice on places to go. Lots of maps and tourist leaflets provided which is useful, although someone probably needs to go through and sort this as there are many duplicates and old leaflets that seem to have accumulated over time. When we arrived all the cottage windows were open which I think covered the slight damp smell that the cottage has. There is a definite smell of damp when opening the kitchen cupboards. One of the towels smelt really strong of damp but luckily I found a spare in one of the cupboards. I also felt like the cottage could be cleaner. On first entry to the cottage it appeared clean, but surface clean only. In the bathroom, the shower gel holder was covered in mould and the tiles were not clean. Also cobwebs in the corners in the bathroom and a few rooms. I think the property needs a deep clean, which should be happening at the moment anyway. The bathroom had mould spots on the ceiling which had tried to be covered up with paint. The paint on the walls of the bathroom is so patchy, clearly needs another coat of paint but it is as if they ran out of time and just did one coat. Overall disappointed with the cleanliness level of the cottage, which is something that could easily be rectified. Cottage is a great location to visit many of the sights in the area.

  • "We had a really lovely stay in October Cottage."

It was very welcoming. All the instructions were very clear. The cottage was really nice and we were really welcomed into the small community of cottages around us. We even had a sunny evening to enjoy sitting outside. It is a fantastic base to explore this side of the Yorkshire Dales. We walked up Ingleborough which you can see from the cottage, explored Ingleton waterfalls and two trips to Malham. Overalll a really enjoyable holiday.

  • "The location of this cottage is wonderful."

A few minutes walk takes you to a spot with glorious views in all directions. It was lovely and peaceful with only the odd car passing and the occasional train at the station across the road. The village with shop, pub etc is about a mile away, so walkable, certainly cyclable. We used a car to get further afield, but the train service on the doorstep means it would be relatively easy to organise a holiday without a car. There are not many places you can go these days which combine a quiet rural location and decent public transport!

  • "The cottage was spacious and warm."

The beds and chairs were comfortable. Once we worked out not to run the water when someone was having a shower, everone was happy. We had two cars and at the time we went (November) there was plenty of room to park, although it was away from the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

  • "The picture of the back of the house is wrong, the dogs are not allowed on the grass that you can see in the photo, we didn't like that when we arrived and opened the back door the house joined on, the patio was full of dog dirt that looked like it had been there all week and didn't get cleaned up till Monday night."

We have a dog of our own and no way would we allow this to happen. There was no way we could sit out on our patio seeing that every day. We think this could be resolved by putting up a fence that is covered in so you can't see into next door. Although the house was clean on the surface it could do with a deep clean. The cottage was well stocked with appliances and it served as a base. The 2 small chairs were well worn and very uncomfortable to sit on. We are aware that next doors patio is not the owners fault of the cottage we rented but needs to be looked at before Summer as it would only attract flies not good.

  • "The cottage was lovely and we had a very nice time but the garden was not quite as expected the photo appeared to include the grass at the side, which is why we chose it for our dog, also the description said off road parking, but it would have been nice to know that meant not directly outside the cottage!"

The picturesque Dales village of Clapham is situated in the heart of the famous "Three Peaks" country. Surrounded by spectacular limestone, the Nature Trail at Clapham passes by a lake and mature woodland before reaching Ingleborough Show Cave - spectacular whatever the weather! Follow the footpath further and wonder at the magnificent Trow Gill, before continuing past Gaping Gill (Britain’s largest discovered pothole) on the way to the summit of Ingleborough. The nearby White Scar Caves are also well worth a visit and there is a superb four-mile waterfall walk in the village of Ingleton.
