  • "Great little cottage."

Warm, well equipped, good sized bedrooms, Very good position for doing 3 Peaks, near the station. Only issue is its a bit dark so need to keep lights on, and a too small fridge. could do with bigger one. had very enjoyable stay. Morrisons do deliver there.

  • "Well equipped, but rather small kitchen."

Bedrooms comfy. As others have noted, the lounge / dining room is rather dark. Nothing that lights can't solve! Friendly owner. Good location for three peaks, and the proximity of the railway station is handy for one way walks. Easy to get to Settle for food shopping and anything else you might need.

  • "Poppy Cottage is a perfect base for the Yorkshire Three Peaks."

Five of us stayed. Plenty of room and all very comfortable. The only thing is that the living area is very dark (lights on even in July), but as we were out walking all day that didn’t matter, but could be a bit gloomy for a full week break.

  • "Perfect base for walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, which we did over a more leisurely 3 days."

Asda will deliver shopping here which simplifies self-catering. The Kitchen worked perfectly to prepare six meals. Everything was clean and well maintained. We tried both local pubs. The Crown is up for sale and terrible. Next one (Golden Lion) is awful too. Avoid these and head for the Helwith Bridge Inn 2 miles away for a decent drink and meal. Cottage owners are local and really friendly and helpful.

  • "Poppy cottage is a wonderful cosy home from home cottage."

There is everything you need, It was clean and the beds were very comfortable, Other peoples feedback regarding the fridge freezer were unfounded as we as five adults managed really well, The golden lion pub is ideal for refreshing pint and a meal. The station is a 3 minute walk away perfect for travelling either way with reliable trains. The views of pennygent are amazing along with brilliant riverside walks and walks to Ribblehead viaduct is not out of the way. The only thing we found strange was the lack of a welcome pack as every cottage we have stayed at have provided a little something also intermittent internet when needed at times, but this is obviously due to the location and weather conditions. Overall a very lovely cottage with a very enjoyable stay. Thank you.

  • "This is a lovely cosy cottage which is brilliantly situated for some of the best walking in the Dales."

The cottage is good value and very well equipped. It is also lovely and warm, it snowed the week we were there. The owners live nearby and are helpful but not intrusive. The village has two pubs but doesn’t have a shop anymore. However, you can always drive or hop on the train to Settle for shopping. The train line is also helpful for getting to places like Ribblehead and Dent for even more walks. Finally, one of the bedrooms has a lovely view of Pen Y Ghent. I’d really recommend this cottage.

Could do with an outdoor sitting area and also washing line . The fridge was also a tad small for 4 adults and would have struggled with 6 people . All other facilities were very good with the owner on hand if needed . Pubs in village okay for eating but cafe now shut . Easy start to Pen- y -Gent for 3 peaks . Nearby town of Settle with shops and eateries . Great Italian .

  • "The cottage although cosy, was lacking in some areas."

One of the showers failed to work and the other was very temperamental. The third bedroom consisted of 2 beds, one being a frame on wheels and the other a very slim camp style bed. My adult son had uncomfortable night sleeps in the bed on wheels, which moved every time he did. He would not have fitted into the other bed. We also found old peanuts on the carpet. The cottage is in a lovely location, a short distance from the pub and within a short drive to lots of lovely walks. I feel that it would accommodate 4 adults rather than the 6 stated, due to the bed situation and the downstairs room space. It lacked a bit of TLC.

Slight issue with one of the showers and we couldn't get the internet to work but we reported it to them and I'm sure it will be fixed for the next arrivals. As for the cottage well it was everything we hoped for and more. We wanted a more traditional feel cottage and that’s what we got. It was lovely and cosy yet spacious for a family of 5. It was very well equipped, nice comfy beds and plenty of towels provided. A nice warm fire was lit ready for arrival which was a welcome sight. The owners were lovely, friendly and very welcoming. It was a great base for my husband and daughter to walk Pen-y-Ghent, and for us to visit other places of interest. I wish we had booked for longer. A hidden gem and we hope to return.

There is not much view from the house but once you step outside you can stroll down to the Ribble and see Pen-Y-Ghent. Once we had got to grips with the coal fire we were lovely and warm though there are electric fan heaters if you aren't used to a fire. Easy walking from the cottage, up Pen-Y-Ghent one way or Ingleborough Nature Reserve the other, or all 3 peaks if you are feeling more ennergetic than us. Very friendly helpful owners who live next door if you have any problems.
