  • "A warm, comfortable cottage excellently situated for exploring the southwestern areas of the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland."

The welcome goodies (bread, cheese, milk, wine) were much appreciated and the owners are on hand and helpful. The cottage itself has a fascinating history and a few quirks that you’d expect from a property of its age. All in all a nice quiet spot for a week of outdoor activities.

  • "This cottage is exceptionally well presented, with everything you could need and more than you can expect."

It has been thoughtfully set up and the owners who live next door are available but not in any way intrusive. They quickly resolved a minor issue with the WiFi and everything else was perfect. All you need to do is turn up with your food and clothes and you’re ready to go. The location is very handy being just off the A65 with good access to lots of interesting walking destinations, the railway or places to potter and go on visits. The house itself also an interesting history in its own right and is worth staying in for that too. Fantastic!

Property was spotless throughout with everything I could possibly have needed for a comfortable stay. Honestly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, so much that I made a note of the mattress make before leaving! Huge thanks to the owners for such a lovely stay, I will definitely be back.

The welcome pack was great touch with some lovely local things to eat bread , butter, cheese, biscuits and even bottle of wine. Owner was brilliant too weather was patchy despite being August bank holiday week so checked multiple times we were warm enough even putting heating on to help warm us up. The cottage contained so many nice touches and everything we needed and more. Can honestly recommend to anyone.

Exiting the property (in car) needs care as corner is blind - but no actual problems experienced. Cottage historically most interesting, well equipped and owners very welcoming. Ideally situated for either the Dales or Forest of Bowland. Railway adds further interest. Log fire much appreciated by later evening.

The location is great for walking, and as a cosy base to come back to at the end of the day. Cannot speak more highly of the property of the hospitality and friendliness of George and Elizabeth next door. And also a recommendation for the Old Sawmill Cafe in Clapham, and definitely a place to stop whether for coffee and cake, or something larger!!

The cottage was very clean and well-furnished, and we had everything we could possibly need to hand. The owners were really welcoming and helpful. We selected Wenning Bank because it's close to all three Yorkshire Peaks which we wanted to walk - it's a perfect location if this is in your holiday plans, but there are plenty of other activities and places to visit close by.

Wonderful hamper left for us on arrival, with fresh bread, Yorkshire butter, milk, biscuits, cheese and wine. What a lovely surprise. Peacefully situated with plenty of private off road parking. Views are stunning. Owners live next door and are friendly and helpful. All the comforts of home can be found in the cottage. You don't need to bring anything but food and drink, as the kitchen has everything you need including condiments, foil, washing up liquid, tea towels etc etc. Lovely comfortable bedrooms. Wonderful surroundings with lots of great places to visit. Only half hour from The lake district too. Fabulous bakery in Ingleton village called Seasons. The cottage is close to the railway station, but we weren't bothered by any noise as trains only run every two hours. A car is necessary to visit shops etc, but they are only a short drive away. Highly recommended place to stay.

  • "We loved our stay at Wenning Bank."

The surroundings are beautiful and although the cottage is very handy for the A65 and the railway to Morecambe and Skipton, you are not bothered by either. The accommodation is very good, although the second bedroom is a little small - not that this would stop us coming back. The cottage is clean, and the locally sourced bread, butter and cheese (and wine) a very nice welcoming touch. TV signal and WiFi are both pretty good, and the unlisted DVD player a bonus (First World entertainment problems sorted). There are nice walks to be had in the area, or within about an hour’s drive, most of the highlights of the Yorkshire Dales area are easily reached. The owners George and Elizabeth are friendly and happy to let you know some tips for trips or walks from the cottage. Their two lovely dogs, cat and 4 chickens also provided brilliant distractions for us.

  • "This was my second time at Wenning Bank as I have friends who live nearby and it was just as lovely as I remember."

George and Elizabeth were very welcoming as was the welcome pack. Very convenient for the A65 to explore all that the Dales have to offer . The only moan is the paintwork is looking a little tired and worn in some places and in the main bedroom although it is a listed property, decor is a little dated and could use a modern but sympathetic update . Very quiet and stunning views. It has all the comforts away from home . I would definitely stay again.

We visited with young children so for us this was fantastic being able to explore so near to the cottage. The cottage itself is superb. Everything is neat and clean. Great beds, bedding, towels etc. It has everything you need and more. I would say that the kitchen has all utensils and convenience you possibly need. We were able to cook a bit more elaborately and bake a cake using all utensils that were available. There was a welcome basket which we found being such a thoughtful gesture. Thank you! Cottage is nicely decorated throughout and has a lot of charm and cosy atmosphere. About the location

CLAPHAM

Ingleton 4 miles; Settle 6 miles.

The picturesque Dales village of Clapham is situated in the heart of the famous "Three Peaks" country. Surrounded by spectacular limestone, the Nature Trail at Clapham passes by a lake and mature woodland before reaching Ingleborough Show Cave - spectacular whatever the weather! Follow the footpath further and wonder at the magnificent Trow Gill, before continuing past Gaping Gill (Britain’s largest discovered pothole) on the way to the summit of Ingleborough. The nearby White Scar Caves are also well worth a visit and there is a superb four-mile waterfall walk in the village of Ingleton. Clapham offers a village shop, a vintage gift shop and a bespoke wool and handicraft shop, as well as a pub, a bar and cafes. The village is an ideal base for walking, climbing or potholing and horse/pony trekking, as there are numerous bridle paths in the area. An excellent centre for touring the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland, with easy access to both the Lake District and the west coast.
