  • "We loved our stay at the Hayloft, and didn’t want to leave!"

    It was the ideal place for a family get together. The upstairs open-plan dining and living space is stunning, with lovely views and a handy patio. Host Neil was easily contactable for any queries or a friendly chat. The place itself has been renovated to high quality and we had all of the facilities and amenities we needed. We hope to return again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!

  • "We had a fabulous time in this cottage."

    The hosts were lovely and on hand to support and answer any questions. Within the cottage there are lots of facilities and the walking up and down the hills was amazing- right outside the door. Although the cottage is in a remote setting we visited many places and enjoyed our time- luckily the weather was very kind to us too. Overall, we had an amazing holiday in the Hayloft and would thoroughly recommend it. If you had a larger group there is the 4 bedroom and then next door is a 2 bedded cottage so perfect for larger groups too. Our only feedback would be it would have been nice to have a welcome hamper ( I understand it’s another cost). Maybe just some milk and bread as nearest shop was a drive and when you travel at night the last thing you want to do is go back out for supplies.   • "Stayed here over the New Year."

    Was given a warm welcome by the host when we arrived and had a great stay. Plenty of room, modern facilities. Kitchen well stocked. Owner was easily contactable when needed . Took our dog with us and would recommend it for dog owners. Only took 5-10 mins to get to Appleby and a good base for other sites. Property was warm throughout and we would definitely stay again.

  • "Lovely barn in a great location."

    The en-suite bedrooms are very nice. The owners, who live just across the yard, are very helpful and attentive. The accommodation would perhaps benefit from a few more pots, pans and crockery if you're cooking for a group of people. We had a great time.

  • "The location and the property are marvellous."

    The property was ultra-clean, modern and well equipped. It is situated between the beautiful villages of Dufton and Murton in very peaceful, rural settings. It’s a great place for keen hikers. We hiked directly from the property on 4 days of the week stayed and could have done more. Highly recommend the Stag Inn at Dufton for cask ales and home cooked food. Also the 7EVENTY1 for great Indian food in Appleby. Wonderful week’s stay.

  • "We recently had the pleasure of staying at Neil & Kerry’s stunning property, and it truly was lovely."

    The property itself is well furnished, with ample space and impeccable cleanliness. The grounds are beautiful, with well sign posted walks into the local village. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The hosts stopped by to introduce themselves and were always on hand when we needed assistance.   • "Fantastic spot, quiet and peaceful."

    Stunning property and scenery. Near to local village. Host’s very accommodating and happy to help with everything. Just a few bits needed like hoover, extra tea towels/ bigger bath towels , and possibly shelving in bathrooms for toiletries. Pet friendly and our dog loved it! Great stay!

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. Appleby has a wonderful selection of quality independent shops, cafes and delicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts.
