"A 5 star rating."
Very personable hosts who have spared no expense in presenting a fantastic cottage property for enjoyment - a Home From Home experience. Every last detail has been thought through. From a wonderfully equipped kitchen to a fabulous interior design with bags of character. Brilliant Fibre WiFi, very comfortable beds and Premium Netflix availability. Our 96 yr old Aunt also loved her time at Owl Shack. Congratulations to Julie and Chris.

"Garden is not enclosed !"
! Should place a gate at the decking because of stream and make clear not enclosed for people with dogs in your description Did not cater for disabled people! At the very least there should have been hand rails at the hall steps, in the shower / bathrooms Beds way too hard. We use a hard bed at home but these beat it Did not appreciate the email from Lakelovers on Monday morning telling us to pick up after dog in garden, set the dishwasher night before, very condescending. Consider re-wording as we found it very insulting as principled respectful holiday visitors
Thank you for the feedback. The decking is not enclosed but the surrounding area is: It’s fenced off from the Pastureland on one side with the Riverbank on the other. Many guests appreciate the open, easy access to the river bank and picnic area. The building is not advertised as suitable or assessed for significant-disability accessibility. The building is accurately described as a single story building with only 2 interior steps (total rise 37cms) so does suit and is frequently used by guests with limited mobility. Thank you for pointing out the beds were too hard for you - the first guests out of perhaps 750 to have mentioned this to us. We’ll certainly look into this. The email from Lakelovers was a generic email sent out to all departing guests asking for help to enable speedy changeovers between visitors. Arriving guest benefit from this. In no way was it meant to be condescending and most guests are happy to help. Sadly, we do get irresponsible dog owners who do not clear up after their pet so the email’s purpose was simply meant to be a gentle, diplomatic reminder. We’re sorry you did not see it as that. "An amazing place, beautifully designed, furnished and all the items anyone could want."
We had such a relaxing stay and loved the location, quietness and how comfortable everything was made for us.
-
"The only downside of such a lovely place was the flies that always came in if we opened the doors to the patio."
Other than that the whole experience was the perfect family break- thanks again.
Hi Mike, Thanks for taking the time to leave comments. Like everywhere in The Lake District, on rare occasions in mid-summer we can get flies particularly when it’s hot and after a deluge of rain. We recommend in our Guest Information book during those times to keep the patio door closed when on the decking and spray the room with the fly spray provided before you go out. That usually sorts it. Thanks also for leaving us 100% feedback – we really appreciate it - and are pleased you had the perfect family break in The Owl’s Shack. All the best Chris and Julie Property Owner

"An exceptional accommodation, beautifully and thoughtfully decorated with every amenity you could wish for."
The location was so tranquil you feel detached from the hectic world outside - a true escape. A wonderful welcome from Chris the owner and a very thoughtful welcome pack with a lovely vase of fresh flowers.

"This is a truly wonderful property, decorated and furnished to an extremely high standard."
There is nothing that Chris and Julie haven’t thought of, so many loving touches, it was a sheer delight to call this home for a week and to escape and relax. The setting is idyllic, a tranquil haven away from the busyness of the world with a river babbling away in the background and rolling hills and sheep to complete the perfect views. A very warm welcome awaited us when we arrived from Chris, a guided tour of the property and history as to how it came into being. It’s set in a fabulous valley with easy access to many places to visit nearby or simply take a walk. Thank you so much for the wonderful welcome pack, the cake was delicious and the doggy treats very welcome too.

"We absolutely loved staying here."
The Owl’s Shack is absolutely PERFECT! Beautiful views, you can hear the water nearby which is so relaxing. Every single detail of the shack has been thought about which made our stay incredibly easy. Usually when we go to places in the uk, we will take lots of utensils etc as most places don’t stock much, including lots and fire lighters etc, but this place literally had EVERYTHING. We didn’t need to take anything for the kitchen as it had it all. The smart TV was excellent and easy to use. The showers we really great and worked easily. We arrived to a lovely hamper it the kitchen including a gorgeous coffee and cake! The fire was also great, with enough logs to last us the full week. The only thing was it says enclosed garden on the site. We brought a dog who can’t be let off the lead. The garden isn’t fully enclosed but this really is the only thing that bothered us but we worked around it and it was fine. I would highly recommend it. And we would love to come back and stay again. It’s such a wonderful place. Thank you for such a lovely stay!

"Our stay at the owls shack was amazing, and very relaxing."
We had a very nice pamper pack and a welcome note which was very thoughtful and nice of them to do. Everything was on point, and our favourite feature of the house was the open wood fire in the lounge, it was very cozy and beautiful. The layout and decor is carefully designed with love for sure. Perfect for instagram pictures
Thank you for such lovely comments, we are so glad that you enjoyed the property and all that we had to offer. Property Owner
