  • "This is positioned very central in the village and tucked away in a courtyard area."

The accommodation is spread over 3 floors and is very cosy with the temperature inside adequately maintained by the central heating. Shower is excellent and the beds are very comfortable, the Wi-Fi is excellent. In terms of surrounding accommodation and restaurants it ticks all the boxes, but the only downside we had was the level of noise from the Spice Restaurant and the property behind the lounge. We have a small dog and he is sensitive to noise which was not ideal given the proximity of these properties. Overall a nice stay over the festive period and good value for money

The property

This Grade II listed stone built townhouse (built c.1650) is set over three floors in a quiet courtyard in the centre of the popular market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, offering a warm and friendly atmosphere in both the daytime and the evenings, it's a vibrant town with lots to explore at all times of the day.

Within a short walk of all the town’s amenities, this delightful cottage has been recently renovated to provide a stylish holiday home of considerable merit.

Full of character throughout, combining many of the original features, old beams, a stained glass window and feature fireplace with a careful selection of soft furnishings to create a mix of vintage and contemporary to this quaint holiday home.

A perfect blend of the old and the new.

From the courtyard, guests have a choice of entry, the stable doors lead into a modern, well-equipped kitchen area and the external stone staircase leads to the first floor sitting room.

The sitting room gives access to the kitchen and the upper floor dining area and provides a lovely place to sit and relax and take in the many features of the room, such as the old beams and the feature fireplace.

The top floor provides a spacious master bedroom with king size bed overlooked by two Velux windows which provide a lovely light throughout the room.

A second smaller bedroom, with a double bed provides flexible sleeping arrangements and the cottage is just perfect for two couples or a small family to enjoy this wonderful, historic old town.

A modern bathroom with large walk in shower complements the two bedrooms.

Outside, there is a small sitting area, ideal for sitting out with a relaxing drink and taking in the beautiful gardens.

Courtyard Cottage is at the heart of the action, its shared courtyard hosts access for four dwellings, with a cafe next door to the cottage you will awaken to the smell of freshly baked goods.

A ginnel leads from the courtyard which opens directly onto the high street, where you can find the Snooty Fox pub opposite the cafe.

The Town Square, fronted by the Royal Hotel, is just a few strides in the other direction.

The private Courtyard shelters you from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding local area, yet the sounds and smells can catch your senses on the breeze when lounging in the courtyard having a well-earned rest.

In the town there is a lovely park, the famous Devils Bridge, Ruskins View and the River Lune meandering its way down the valley.

For a perfect day trip, head off to the Lake District or the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, explore the Three Peaks, visit the ever popular Skipton, the bustling towns of Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside, both situated on the shores of Lake Windermere.

A great base for couples looking for that something very special, a great holiday cottage to invite friends and family along and explore this fantastic area.

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country’.
