"This is positioned very central in the village and tucked away in a courtyard area."
The accommodation is spread over 3 floors and is very cosy with the temperature inside adequately maintained by the central heating. Shower is excellent and the beds are very comfortable, the Wi-Fi is excellent. In terms of surrounding accommodation and restaurants it ticks all the boxes, but the only downside we had was the level of noise from the Spice Restaurant and the property behind the lounge. We have a small dog and he is sensitive to noise which was not ideal given the proximity of these properties. Overall a nice stay over the festive period and good value for money

"Superb location stunning cottage everything you could need"
-
"The cottage is very nice and well located, but it was a little disappointing to note that the rule regarding dogs being restricted to the lower floors was only communicated in the book on arrival and not specified on the site prior to booking."
Had that been known, as it has been in other cottages we have looked at on other sites, we would likely not have chosen Courtyard Cottage. Similarly the restrictions with dogs on leads outside.

"Central heating a problem Couldn't turn it down over night"
-
"I would definately stop at Courtyard Cottage again."
It's in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale with elenty of pubs walking distance to choose from. Drop the bags off using the 1 hour free parking out front, but then dont forget to move it to one of the car parks or one of the free parking areas in Kirkby (a map of these is kindly provided in the pack). I'd definately recommend this cottage.
-
"The cottage was well equipped, clean and comfortable."
The beds were also very comfortable. It’s a very quaint cottage in a small courtyard, ideally set very close to the hight street. The only suggestion I would make would be some decent tea towels as you are hand washing dishes the ones provided didn’t do a very good job. We had a lovely week in Kirkby Longsdale. Would certainly recommend this cottage, however be prepared for daily/weekly parking charges.
-
"Great little cottage and very central to the local village shops etc."
Warm and cozy.
-
"Very nice cottage in centre of kirkby lonsdale."
everything provided for a wonderful stay.
-
"Great cosy cottage, great location."
Will definitely stay again
-
"Fabulous cottage, so clean, cosy and comfortable and in an ideal location just a few footsteps away from the main street."
Whilst we loved being out and about in the gorgeous Kirkby Lonsdale, we all looked forward to returning to the cottage. Will definitely return.

"Lovely cottage in a superb location"
-
"The cottage was very comfortable and quirk."
There were lots of steps so wouldn't suit someone with limited mobility but we didn't mind. The location was great, minutes, if not seconds, walk from everything Kirkby Lonsdale has to offer. We used the local car park, paying £18 for the weekend, which was very convenient, in fact we didn't move the car all weekend taking a couple of 6 mile walks from the door in the local countryside. We would definately use this cottage again for a weekend break in Kirkby Lonsdale.

"Had a lovely stay' the property is perfectly situated' we parked the car when we arrived and didn't get back in it until we left thank you for a lovely stay."
-
"Lovely cottage very homely."
We'll worth the money Only seconds from main street. Would definitely go back.
-
"Had a lovely stay at Courtyard Cottage, ideal location, although no parking this wasn't a major issue as plenty of nearby parking."
Our party consisted of myself, my husband, son and Max the dog, we would all happily stay again, highly recommend!
-
"Beautifully furnished and comfortable cottage."
We really enjoyed our stay and it’s been one of our favourite cottages to stay in Kirkby with its quirky design and furnishings. The courtyard location is lovely (although you do get quite a lot of noise from the back of the cafe from around 8am). We parked near the post office to load/unload as you get one hour free parking. Highly recommend breakfast butties from Lunesdale Bakery and meals at Kings, Botanica, Avanti. Also The Pheasant in Casterton and Highwayman just outside Kirkby.

Fantastic property everything we could need for relaxing romantic stay, it was perfect location too for the town and car parks, we will definitely be coming back again to the courtyard cottage
-
"The cottage was lovely, very comfortable and clean."
The cottage is placed in the ideal spot, in the centre of the village and the river. Our little westie Jess really enjoyed her walks down by the river, she also enjoyed going into the shops where she was given biscuit treats by the shop assistant, all very friendly. We all enjoyed our holiday, Steve the owner was very friendly and helpful on speaking with him. Had a great time, thank you so much.
-
"Fantastic little town, friendly and pretty."
Very comfortable cottage with everything we needed. Only problem was TV which we just could not get to transmit. Lovely little courtyard garden
-
"Couldn't get a signal for the TV but had a fire stick so was able to get most programmes."
Maybe you should consider providing one.
-
"Lovely cottage in a great location."
We had a wonderful holiday with our teenage girls and two dogs. Kirkby Lonsdale is a stunning village, friendly with lots of amenities. Dogs are welcome virtually everywhere. You can unload your car outside the place for up to an hour. We then parked our car for free on the fringes of the town about 5 minutes walk from the house. This wasn't a problem for us but thought future guests considering the place would appreciate a heads up on the parking front. I would love to go back.
-
"As first time visitors to Kirkby Lonsdale, we loved the property and its location was perfect."
My only issue, and it wasn't a major issue for us, was the television. There was clearly an issue with its connection to the dish outside the property...we couldn't get live TV but Netflix, BBC iPlayer etc worked fine. I left a message using one of the contact numbers provided but no-one called me back. Other than that we loved our stay at Courtyard Cottage.
-
"Stayed at courtyard cottage a couple of items now and will be back at some point."
Access to TV can be frustrating as can the early morning birds on the window sill but overall an enjoyable stay in a central location.
-
"What a fantastic cottage."
Very quirky and well appointed. Right in the centre of the village close to shops, bars and restaurants. A short drive to The Lakes and The Dales.
-
"The property is in a great position for easy access in to town and is surprisingly quiet given the close proximity of Spice Essence."
However at times neighbour noise could be easily heard and set our dog off barking! (She is spoiled by a very quiet household though, so certainly not a fault of the cottage, but be aware if your dog is with you.) A few minor niggles which we left for sorting including a dripping kitchen tap and no blind on the kitchen door which does make you visible to anyone walking through the courtyard to another property.
-
"Property well equipped central & good value."
Comfortable- my second visit but came with friends who loved it. Great directions
-
"Beautiful cottage in a quiet courtyard yet only a minute away from the main street and the square."
Lovely countryside and great pubs. Would highly recommend
-
"Really enjoyed our stay."
The cottage was very comfortable and everything you would need was provided. Great Central location and easy access to parking and local stores. We will definitely return!
-
"Beautiful cottage, friendly neighbours and a perfect village and that’s not easy for a Cornishman to say about ‘up North’!"
-
"We had such a wonderful stay at this cottage we have booked again for the same week next year."
Lovely town and lovely friendly people. The cottage is adorable. Everything you could wish for. 4 of us were booked but only 2 of us went due to personal circumstances. It was ideally set and it is handy for parking, shops, restaurants, cafes etc. Beautiful walks and scenery too. Best cafe on main street is called No 44 it has the best staff. Food we ate in all places in the town was top class. Booths supermarket is handy too if you need any bigger shopping but we ate out nearly every day and night. Relaxing comfortable holiday and can't wait to return. See you in 2022.
-
"I stayed here in June with my wife, child and dog."
We had the loveliest time staying in this cottage. The size was brilliant. The property was very clean, tidy and well presented. The located is perfect, right in the centre but still quiet. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you.
-
"It's ideally placed for town centre A little oasis Cosy and convenient."
...nice friendly helpful neighbours Perhaps a bit more local info or recommendations from previous guests...but in all in all a very positive experience
-
"Cottage is in a great location for exploring the area or staying local."
Had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay in a lovely market town. Would stay there again.
-
"Having taken holidays in Kirkby Lonsdale for many years now we are delighted to have come across the Little Gem that is Courtyard Cottage."
The photographs do not do it full justice,it is just so full of nice touches and we had a wonderful break there (in spite of the rain)Would most certainly return, thank you.
-
"Lovely cottage."
Stylishly decorated and provided everything that we needed. The cottage was spotlessly clean. Superb location in the middle of the village and we would love to come back when the pubs and restaurants are fully open in Kirkby Lonsdale again. Perfect for a couple. Thanks for your hospitality.
-
"Some really lovely furniture and comfortable."
Kitchen needs some TLC around fixtures, the need to clean the spillage in the oven prior to use and the knife and fork draw. Quite a lot of noise at 5/6 from the cafe staff and when it rains hard it’s very loud on the velux windows and it feels like you’re sleeping in a caravan. Considering the location; the price reflects the quality of the cottage.
-
"Had a fabulous holiday at Courtyard Cottage ."
The cottage is in the perfect location in the heart of the lovely historic town of Kirkby Lonsdale with 7 pubs to choose from and all amenities you could need. The cottage was clean and very comfortable with plenty of amenities. We did some lovely walks along the river and around the surrounding area. A must visit would be Ingleton Waterfalls and a boat trip on Windermere. Would highly recommend this cottage and would definitely return.

"People need to be aware that you can’t get close to the property and having to ..."
People need to be aware that you can’t get close to the property and having to get your luggage to the property can be a bit off a distance you have the Indian restaurant at the back and the cafe as well you get woken up like 7 in the morning the Indian had a smoking area that gets noisy and you should take in account the parking price there is a lot off stairs aswell in the property the bathroom needs updating quaint cottage town is lovely also your asked to take the bedding off when I did there was sweat stains on pillow and stain on the duvet
-
"Excellent location, very comfortable, had everything you needed for a break, would definitely recommend."
-
"The cottage was fabulous, all I would say is that if the owner or yourselves could include directions to the cottage."
Eg: from Main Street turn into Chapel Lane and then go through the metal gate on the right before the dentist, through the next gate and the cottage is there. It would make it easier for guests to find as it took us a while.
-
"A really sweet cottage, with many home from home facilities."
Right in the very heart of the village, so easy to access the lovely shops, bars & restaurants. Pretty walks in surrounding areas with great views & access to the waterfalls.
-
"Our second stay at the cottage and there will be many more."
The cottage is lovely and was nice and warm when we arrived on a cold day, with a bottle of prosecco and a Christmas card left out for us, which was a nice touch. Great location, very nicely appointed and really cosy. Owner contacted us in advance to let us know all ready etc which was good. Highly recommended.
-
"Guide to TV and Heating would be welcome."
-
"Lovely cottage fantastic location."
-
"A great cottage with a fantastic location in the heart of Kirby Lonsdale"
-
"Suggest description should mention the 4 flights of stairs + stairs to front door so that customers who cant manage stairs too well know about them."
-
"We were unable to activate the central heating system as we assume must be remotely controlled."
It would have been more comfortable if the heating been available to us.
-
"The cottage is the most exquisite beautiful quaint little cottage we have ever seen, and set in an idyllic place too."
The children loved all the steps in there and had such fun. The entire holiday was fabulous we will definitely recommend the cottage and we want to come back to stay again.
-
"The cottage and location were just perfect."
Kirby Lonsdale is a beautiful place. The cottage itself was stunning, with everything you need for your stay. Will definitely be returning.
-
"It could do with some fans as the bedrooms got very hot and as it was pouring with rain we were unable to open the Velux windows."
A small welcome pack containing a few essentials would be a lovely touch
-
"The cottage was beautiful as in the pictures."
The bedrooms were lovely too and the beds were so comfortable. The location was also so perfect it couldn’t have been more central, which was great if we need to pop back for anything.
-
"Lovely cottage, close to town centre, but not intrusive."
Loads of eating houses. Obliging locals. Definitely will be back
-
"Lovely cottage with everything we needed."
right in the centre of Kirkby near to all the pubs and cafes. Extremely comfy bed Might be an idea to detail which door the key safe is located at as we couldn't find it for a while. Would definitely return
-
"Convenient, well equipped base for both the town and the region."
Age related mobility needed for the stairs.
-
"We absolutely loved staying at courtyard cottage."
The location is perfect! The cottage is very quaint and beautifully presented. The beds are extremely comfy too which is always a bonus. Will definitely be back!
-
"A really nice cottage which is very centrally located just yards from restaurants and pubs."
The cottage is just minutes away from river walks and the local supermarket
-
"The cottage is absolutely beautiful and so cosy, warm and comfortable."
It's in a perfect location for all that Kirkby Lonsdale has to offer and we'll definitely be back again :)
-
"The location is perfect for getting around the town and the cottage is very homely, comfy, warm and welcoming with great character."
-
"Perfect for four people , this sweet cottage has so much character ."
-
"This cottage is beautiful."
It feels more like a boutique holiday home. The cottage was immaculate on arrival. It was clean and very well presented. There are so many little details that make this a wonderful place to stay. The kitchen is really well equipped with lovely crockery, the living room was really relaxing, great lighting and a good quality Smart TV, the dining room was brilliantly designed and I loved the lighting. The bedrooms were beautifully presented with really comfy beds and the bathroom had a great shower. The location was perfect, tucked away in the middle of Kirkby Lonsdale, which is a lovely place to stay. I could hear a bit from the restaurant nearby but it wasn't really a problem, considering the location it was really peaceful and also fantastic to be able to bring my dog with me. This place is a wonderful place to stay, I loved my time there and would love to return.
-
"Lovely cottage situated right within the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale, location was fantastic, we had a lovely holiday there and would definitely return, the only small negatives is the parking you can’t access the cottage with a car although the car parks not far away it’s costly to park for the week and unloading the car on arrival and packing up when leaving was a bit of a annoyance to be fair this was mentioned when booking the cottage, also no double glazing which is obviously to fit in with the style of the building (which is lovely) so at times it could be a bit noisy, this aside we had a lovely holiday."
-
"Great location for town centre."
Quiet at night. Very comfortable for two people. Maybe a little small for four adults
-
"Brilliant cottage right in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale."
Location was excellent with a car park near by where we could pay for a long stay. Furnishings and general interior design was spot on .Bathroom a little dated but shower was great so no complaints. Dog friendly and not far for a walk along the river to Devils Bridge. Kitchen had everything you need including poo bags for dogs and (nappy bags for babies if you needed them. ) The cottage was spotlessly clean . We did not find it noisy -as some reviews- and all in all it was a great experience and we would recommend it as a great place to stay.
-
"First of all the cottage is immaculate."
The furniture & fittings are brand new and the bedding is of a very high standard. However the outside door to the first floor, which is at the top of the external stairs as shown on the photograph is immediately adjacent to the front door and only exit/entrance to the next door cottage. You can just see this in the photograph however this is not at all clear from the property description. The living room for the cottage is on the first floor and when the occupants next door were coming & going they had to 'slam' their door resulting in a load bang which could be heard throughout the cottage. This quickly becomes irritating. The walls of the cottages are also thin and it is possible to hear the next door neighbours talking, watching TV etc. Much worse though they had 2 yappy dogs which were left alone and barked constantly at their front door on our first evening. This was not at all pleasant for us trying to have a relaxing night in. To be fair to our neighbours they did make alternative arrangements for the dogs after being spoken to however the point is that the walls are thin and external noises can be heard

"Lovely quaint cottage, beautiful decoration which is what attracted me."
Really well equipped, the small kitchen had everything and more I'd expect from a larger kitchen, loved the dining room decor too - worth trekking up a flight of stairs for! Lounge sofa fab and comfy too! Main bedroom very relaxing and bright. Great to be in such a lovely market town. To be honest the noise of the Indian restaurant and bakers (which I hadn't appreciated would be SO close) meant that there was sometimes noise til midnight and then rattling trollies at 6am. I understand why it hasn't been made clear and I guess it should be obvious being in the centre of town, my naivety. It's great that such a beautiful cottage allows dogs but it was tricky as I had no where to let the dog out for a wee first and last thing, the park nearby was no dogs so it meant a trek down to the river. Maybe make it clear where dogs can go then at least you are informed before booking. Minor tips, a couple more towels and more hooks especially in bathroom, struggled drying them out. Fridge not great, at least rehang the door the other way (they are designed to swap) it was a pain, I needed more freezer space but realise it wasn't in the list. Carpet was so lovely and luxurious everywhere, made me want to have ours redone at home... Except the bedroom which was a shame, but I suspect its because of the cute windows.... But I'm nit-picking, without a dog I'd return, I want a green velvet sofa for Christmas

"The cottage was lovely, charming, well presented and in a nice position."
The problem was the neighbouring take away, visible from the back of the cottage. The occupants seemed to begin a party every night late on till 6am the following morning with plenty of talking, noise and music. We could hear this all clearly in the bedrooms and some of our party could not get to sleep until the disturbance ceased. This should be taken up with the local council as a noise nuisance. Other than this the cottage itself and location was a delight.
-
"Great little cottage, in an excellent location for exploring Kirkby Lonsdale and surrounding areas."
Parking is in the public carparks a very short walk away but you can unload at the top of the lane in the library car park if necessary. Comfortable and homely, with nice touches and friendly neighbours! Dog friendly (first floors only) as is the village. Lovely walk through the church grounds to Ruskin's View. We would recommend the Indian takeaway and the Orange Tree for good food with vegetarian options. We will definitely be back.

About the location
KIRKBY LONSDALE
Kendal 9 miles.
An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country’.
