"Excellent accomodation but this holiday was chosen because from the information on the website we were led to believe there was an enclosed garden for the dog and this is not the case which could have caused a problem, other than that everything was great including the location."
-
"Lovely cottage with good facilities."
Very cosy and comfortable Lovely stay
Thank you, glad you enjoyed your stay Property Owner

"This was a comfortable and well equipped cottage and the hot tub was a blessing after a day of walking, with beautiful views of the Fell."
The location was stunning although the road to get there was interesting. Be aware when taking your dog that there is not enclosed area so be aware that there are sheep wondering free by the property. The garden area was not as the photo so a little surprised.
There is no garden, there is an enclosed decking area where the stone chippings used to be. There are sheep around as it is a working farm. Thank you Property Owner

"Absolutely stunning location and cottage."
The cottage is fully equiped with everything you could possibly need. The hot tub is an added bonus which we took full advantage of in the evenings, it is beautiful seeing all the animals roaming too. I would highly recommend this property it is quite central to most locations, we tried the local pub that is recommended in the welcome book and couldn’t agree more, had a lovely meal in the three shires.
Thank you, glad you had a nice stay Property Owner

"The cottage is in a quiet position next to the farm on a well maintained road near footpaths."
It is comfortable, charming and pretty with every modern facility including new bathroom, kitchen and efficient heating. Good wifi and Freeview TV. Spacious bedroom with lots of hanging and drawer space. Although the welcome folder had all the basic info with emergency phone numbers etc it was very untidy and should be refreshed. The walking maps were unreadable. 4 adults may find the cottage a bit of a squeeze - the second bedroom has a very low sloping ceiling and the layout of the main room, although spacious, does not leave much room for the dining table. It is perfect for couples and families with children.

"Jewel in a crown experience!"

"We loved the cottage and it was perfect for what we wanted."
Great position to get to everywhere we wanted, and fab walks on the doorstep. Hot tub a definite bonus after the long walks.

"We had a wonderful stay at Tilberthwaite Cottage."
We arrived to a warm, clean, and welcoming cottage with a fire ready to be lit. The cottage was great, it had loads of amenities, and we very much enjoyed the hot tub. The local area is full of walks right from the doorstep and you're only a short distance from Coniston where there are shops and pubs. Would definitely recommend, we had a fantastic time, thank you!

"Cosy and clean, facilities including the 'hot tub' where excellent."
Road to the cottage is narrow and leaving after a night of a bit of snow took care. It was a great break, thanks to the owners.

"Lovely cottage in a fantastic location."
Clean and well presented on arrival, everything you could need provided in the kitchen. Hot tub a real positive after a day of walking and has great views of the mountains and countryside around.

"Children loved seeing the sheep they would sit and look out of the window"

"Such a wonderful property on a working farm, really lovely people in a really lovely place with all you could need in the property."
I really appreciated using the hot tub after being on some long walks, it's a fab place and I'm looking forward to returning. Thank you.

"The cottage is very cosy and location is excellent."
A lot walking trails right outside the doorstep. The scenery is magnificent and you can just sit on the bench outside the house to see the world go by. Only drawback are extremely poor mobile network and wifi but these haven’t spoilt our holiday.
Thank you very much for the review, Stephen Property Owner

"We loved our stay at the cottage."
It has everything that we needed, it was super cosy and the location was perfect. We did an online shop to arrive the day we arrived which was a good idea as there are no big supermarkets nearby but the local shops in Coniston have all the essentials that you need. We would definitely recommend to anyone who loves the countryside, walking and peace and quiet. A fantastic holiday.

"We have had the most wonderful week at Tilberthwaite farm."
It’s been our first holiday away from the coast with our sons aged 11 and 14 and it didn’t disappoint. The cottage is so comfortable and very well equipped and the hot tub was very welcome particularly for our youngest son who loved it after a day exploring the beautiful area and amazing caves that all start right from the doorstep. Wi-Fi is temperamental and we had no phone signal but that isn’t always a bad thing when on holiday!
Thank you for the review Property Owner

"Our 3rd time back to the cottage and won't be our last!"
So peaceful in such a wonderful location! Our 3 year old loved watching the lambs playing in the surrounding fields. Hot tub was amazing in the sunshine too! Lovely and clean as usual.
Thank you for the great review Property Owner

"This is a very rare to find remote cottage in a stunning area of the South Lakes."
You can easily park your car on arrival and not have to use it until you leave! There are so many stunning walks and cycle routes in all directions from the cottage doorstep. The hot tub is the game changer for us, it’s so nice to be able to ease the aches after a long hike on the fells. Ordering an online shopping delivery (we use sainsbury) to arrive when we first get there is a bonus. We’ve loved our annual week here and booked for 2024. Our only request for changes…. Maybe update the televisions as current formats are not really user friendly.

"The location of the property is amazing and the cottage itself is beautiful , spotlessly clean and with excellent facilities."
The garage pictured is now used for storage so parking for a second car might be an issue. Also worth knowing, the hot tub is at the rear of the property and there is no rear door so you have to go around the front which is on a footpath so in the interests of modesty and warmth a robe would be a good idea. There was no welcome pack ( the folder said due to covid ? ) not even salt and pepper so make sure to take essentials .
Thank you for the review, sorry the salt and black pepper grinders were empty we have re- filled and put back in the kitchen cupboard. We leave a starter pack for the multi fuel stove, cleaning products , cloth tea-towel etc and a welcome folder. We find most guests prefer to park in front of the cottage with any extra cars at the side of the cottage but will review if guests prefer the garage its just a little awkward to reverse into. Thanks Stephen Property Owner

"This was a perfect cottage for our needs."
Brilliant walks and views around the area. The hot tub was a total luxury after a long day out. All the communication and facilities worked perfectly. There is a great pub in Little Langdale which is about 45 mins walk away and the Landlady was very friendly and attentive. Great for dogs, our Cockapoo loved it and the farms dog ‘Mouse’ was very sociable. The whole cottage was well laid out, presentable and very comfortable. Brilliant place and right at the foot of Weatherlam which is easily accessed via the road and car park. We had views all the way to the coast from the summit. There is a superb walk to Blae Tarn via fell foot farm from the cottage which you can then take to Great Langdale, the Sticklebarn National Trust pub (Tea and Cake). Go along the Cumbria way towards Elterwater and back through the woods to Little Langdale then across the River Brathay to Tilberthwaite. 11 odd miles and stunning scenery.

"Beautiful little cottage."
Hot tub was amazing and just what was needed after a walk in the local hills

"We loved our stay at High Tilberthwaite."
It’s the most beautiful spot in a seemingly remote valley, but amazingly close to lots of the best bits of the area. We could have walked from the door every day. The cottage is just right for a winter or summer break, with everything you need for a really comfortable stay. And the hot tub was a delight after a day on the fells. Bliss.
Thank you , Stephen Property Owner

"Tilberthwaite Farm Cottage is well-situated between Coniston and Ambleside, and is placed perfectly for many local walks and fell runs."
The hot tub (not shown on photos on the listing) was excellent, clean and in good working order. The only downside of the cottage is that the WiFi is very temperamental (often not working at all) which meant we had trouble planning things to do and we had to cancel some work-related meetings (what a shame!). As an additional word of warning for anyone considering bringing work with them, there is no 4G nor phone signal in the cottage itself either. Everything else with the cottage was great: with comfy beds, and plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils for cooking.
Thank you for the review, yes WI FI is slow in the valley, Stephen Property Owner

"Lovely setting - perfect for us"

"The cottage was in the best position for the eager hiker, so spot on for myself, hubby and r Border Terrier Bertie."
You stated the cottage was dog friendly but your information manual requested the dog to sleep downstairs for r own comfort. To separate Bertie at night from us would have coursed a very disturbed night. We brought r own covers for the bed and sofas. We could tell you had redecorated and undertook replacing the bathroom suite, which l thought was to modern for the lovely little cottage ( but this is a very minor thing plus very personal to individuals taste) The main bedroom suite was alovely colour , one problem unable to use the dressing tables mirror because my hair dryers lead did not reach and the mirror was screwed down. The colour throughout the cottage was cream, it may have been a nice idea to have selected a more suitable colour for the main bedroom. None of the above hindered r amazing holiday. Loved the log burner and hot tub. The sofas were ideal to snuggle down at night after a long day hiking.
Thank you for the feedback , We are pleased you enjoyed your stay , yes the decor is neutral and the bathroom is new as shown on the photos. Property Owner

"Exceeded expectations in every way."
Such a warm, cosy property and much bigger than it looks too. Fantastic location - isolated enough to get away from everything but close enough to civilisation if you want it! Amazing views and scenery, constantly changing in the different weather conditions. So many paths to discover right on the doorstep. We stayed over Xmas and arrived to find a tree up and decorated, which was so lovely and welcoming. An absolute treat to have access to a hot tub in the middle of the fells! A great way to start and/or end the day; we were in there most mornings before walking, and on return; stargazing at night, feeling smug in the rain, and at times icy sleet! We will 100% be back. We actually miss it already. Thank you so much

"Second time back to the cottage."
It is just simply beautiful! Amazing scenery even in some wet weather! Hot tub is perfect for chilling out in. Only thing is the WiFi can be abit poor at times but everything else is perfect!
-
"Lovely cottage in a fabulous quiet location."
Loads of walks straight from the door so hardly used the car.
-
"Lovely setting."
So much to explore. We ve walked. Discovered caves. Slate mine history. Open top bus to Grasemere. Alan Bank is a favourite visit. Coniston just a walk away with everything for everyone. Sit by the lake and / or partake in water activities. It is our fourth visit to the Lakes. It is the best stress relief.
-
"This was our second visit to Tilberthwaite Farm Cottage, we love it there."
It's fantastic for what we need and a great base for getting around the Lakes. Amazing to see Mouse again and to meet the new addition, Pig (what an absolute cutie). The cottage is comfortable, well equipped and relaxing in the hot tub at the end of a day of hiking and exploring is an absolute bonus. Thanks for having us again, we hope to come back again soon.
-
"Perfect place for relax, looks little different like on the pictures ."
We spent here lovely week. Lovely and quiet place, away from noisy cities. In cottage you have everything what you need, plus hot tub as something extra (used everyday). Broadband was very poor but for as that was benefit. We walk around all days, views was amazing. We thinking about coming here again next year. Just don’t believe navigation, read description how to go there and drive carefully. If someone thinking about going there, advise: stop thinking just go !!!

"We absolutely loved our stay at Tilberthwaite, and the photos don't do it justice."
The cottage is great, and the views from the hot tub (not pictured online) are absolutely stunning. It was the perfect way to unwind after a long day out. The location of the cottage is amazing, with loads of things to see and do near by, and great walks from the doorstep. I must admit I noticed a slightly odd taste to the water and so bought bottled water. My partner initially drank the tap water and felt a bit unwell afterwards. I don't believe it's a mains supply, so perhaps should be advertised as 'not for drinking'. My only other criticism is that there wasn't enough toilet roll, soap, or kitchen roll, to last a week, so we had to buy our own. This was not the end of the world, but I've never had to do that before in a holiday cottage, and it does seem a bit of a shame when you've paid so much money to stay. In any event, neither issue really affected our stay, and we would definitely go back.
-
"Amazing cottage and wonderful little break."
Cottage is immaculate and has everything you need! The hot tub was amazing and location was so peaceful and secluded but with plenty of great walks from the doorstop. Would definitely stay again!
-
"3rd consecutive visit to this cottage which says it all."
Normally I never like to go back to the same place however there is absolutely nothing out there (Inc other websites) that comes close to matching Tilberthwaite Cottage. It’s a culmination of the cottage, it’s remote and beautiful location and the amount of stunning walks/hikes on offer from the doorstep. Recommend a visit to Yew Tree Farm round the corner which sells renowned meat produce reared on the farm (Heritage Meats), I’ve never tasted steak as good as that! We also used an app called footpath route planner which helped us to discover walks we never knew existed. Starting and finishing every day in the hot tub with its resident sheep and awesome backdrop is so memorable.

"With beautiful, scenic surroundings Tilberthwaite Farm cottage is the ideal place to stay."
Plenty of places to visit, walks to do and pubs with great food. The cottage is spacious with a warm cozy feel to it and had everything we needed in it. The hot tub was lovely bonus. I definitely recommend staying here.

"Idyllic cottage in stunning surroundings."
Really relaxing place to stay. Several walks right from the door, from easy to strenuous. Walk to Little Langdale particularly recommended. Easy access to Coniston, slightly further to Ambleside. Visited in Christmas week and owners had thoughtfully decorated a Christmas tree in the cottage. Thoroughly recommend.
Thanks for the great review ,Stephen Property Owner

"A great place to kickback and relax."
No passing traffic or neighbours, the animals on the farm are happy and quiet at night. Great dark skies for star spotting. The cottage is small, warm, cosy and clean. We took slow cooker with us so we could return to hot and tasty meal. Great walking from the door. Lovely to return to with a glass or 2 of something in the hot tub to ease our muscles and improve our appetites then indoors for hot food, hot log burner and a gentle baste with more beverage! Then off to the comfiest bed and sweet dreams. Would definitely return, can't think of anything to improve this place. If you want crowds, noise, nightlife then don't come here. Leave it free for us please. Resident retired sheepdog Mouse became a great friend.
Thank you very much for the kind review it is appreciated, Stephen Property Owner

"What an amazing place to stay."

"We had a fabulous week at Tilberthwaite Farm Cottage."
The cottage was in a perfect location for walks and was extremely comfortable. My husband and I have never felt so relaxed on a holiday or slept so well. We would really recommend this gorgeous holiday home.
-
"Lovely place and good base for exploring this part of Cumbria."
No phone signal and limited wifi was a bonus for us to really feel like we were on holiday. The hot tub was a real bonus and the resident sheepdog Mouse was a hit with the kids.
-
"Stunning location, lovely clean and well maintained cottage."
Will definitely return!
-
"The cottage is well located for walks in the area."
The bedrooms and bathroom work well. The facilities are generally good. Despite repeated requests to fix it, the wifi did not work all week. It is only a signal booster from the farmhouse anyway and not a proper wifi network so the listing should be amended to reflect that. Because it is a farm, there are a lot of flies. It would have been useful to have a fly swat. The farmer could be a bit noisy very early or late when returning from the pub. He was our main contact about the cottage but seemed too busy or uninterested to sort the only concern we raised.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback for your stay. I can confirm that the WiFi providers are fixing it but as the property is in a rural location, the WiFi connection will not be as strong as in the city. Property Owner

"This cottage has the best location for a relaxing family holiday."
There are so many walks nearby. We had an amazing time and I’ve already recommended this cottage to some of my friends.
-
"Amazing cottage in a secluded and beautiful spot."
Lots of walks right on your doorstep. We took advantage of Sainsbury’s and timed a delivery on the first evening which I’d recommend to anyone. The cottage itself is beautiful, has been renovated to a high standard and the bedding and towels are clean, comfortable and luxurious. Everything you need for a fab getaway to recharge your batteries. Highly recommended, would definitely return.

"This was our 2nd visit (1st in 2020)."
We absolutely love the cottage, it’s remote location, the scenery and the incredible walks available from the doorstep without having to drive. It’s well placed if wanting to venture further afield (an hours drive to scafell pike, less to helvellyn). Amenities are great at the cottage, glad the tv reception has been fixed, recommend the online Sainsbury’s delivery which saves packing all the food/drink. Hot tub is the star of the show at the cottage though it’s in need of some maintenance to get all the controls working (some jets not working). Highly recommend this place, look forward to our 3rd visit
-
"Wonderful cottage nestled in a beautiful valley on a working sheep farm."
We stayed in April just as the government restrictions eased. The hot tub was a fantastic addition to the holiday, perfect for soaking after a long day walking. We traveled with our 18 month old, the cottage was well equipped for small children with a high chair, cot and stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs. Would echo what others said about the wifi signal being a bit patchy but wasn’t a big problem for us. Thanks for a fantastic stay!
-
"The surrounding views and walks were absolutely breathtaking - a perfect place to get away from it all and even better than the pictures."
We also really enjoyed being greeted by the lovely sheep each morning - very sweet! It was nice to be on a working farm. A very short drive away from many of the lakes and local towns. A very comfortable bed. It was dog friendly as are many of the local pubs, cafes etc. The cottage had everything we needed and we felt very safe as everything had already been thought about in light of the current circumstances of the pandemic. Thank you so much to the owners for their care and preparations in anticipation of our stay. We had a great time!
-
"Amazing walks and scenery just outside your door."
No light pollution there so fabulous view of the stars. Well worth a visit. It is worth mentioning the sheep can literally be on your doorstep if you are taking your dog. Comfortable cottage with lovely hot tub. Would be happy to return
-
"Beautiful location."
-
"Lovely, cosy cottage - very clean, comfy beds and big fluffy towels."
Fabulous walks right from the doorstep. Would definitely recommend this cottage.
-
"Soul Cleansing."
The cottage has everything anyone may need, it far exceeded what we expected and was better than the photos suggest (new hot tub and decking to rear of garage/house). Set on the farm, sheep are regular visitors as they pass the front door. There are so many walks to do from here there’s no need to drive anywhere. Well done to Danika and Stephen, this is a hidden gem.
-
"Loved it! Would definitely come back!"
Perfect location, dog friendly which was a bonus. Bed was very comfy and the hot tub was fab!
-
"This is a fantastic place to stay."
The cottage is well appointed and warm and cosy. Loads of walks from the door step and fantastic to watch the workings of a Lake District farm.
-
"Fabulous cottage in superb “get away from it all” location"
-
"The Cottage was perfect."
As a couple, we wanted a quiet getaway for a few days without the kids! We had our dog with us, and the cottage was perfect for a dog walking weekend in the lake districts. There were walks on the door stop but also everything in the lake district was within ~1hr drive. The hot tub was great, even in January! We sat out and relaxed under the stars (0 light polution so perfect for this). There weren't any pictures of the hot tub but it was large (6 seats i think), modern, on a private decking overlooking the sheep and fields, and running all the time (always warm). We were met on arrival by the owner (who lives next door), and she was welcoming, friendly and recommended a great pub in the local village (Sun Hotel Coniston) 5-10min drive. Overall, we were really happy with our booking.
-
"A really nice cottage in a lovely secluded location which has immediate access to some nice walks, especially for a month old puppy."
The cottage itself was lovely and even though it's a working farm, there was no disturbance whatsoever. The lemon drizzle cake waiting for us on arrival in a tin on the table was a really nice touch and we'd definitely recommend staying here.
-
"A delightful clean cosy well equipped cottage in a peaceful location."
I cannot speak highly enough. Views from the cottage are wonderful. Footpaths to beauty spots are from the doorstep.
-
"Lovely cosy warm cottage furnished to a good level friendly owners next door if a problem dog friendly with dog bed and bowls, lovely walks straight from the door amazing views enjoyed the holiday."
-
"An excellent property in an ideal location."
-
"The cottage was in a perfect location."
It was very well presented, clean and comfortable. Hottub was a bonus and great after a long days walking. Welcome home made cake and biscuits were delicious! Thanks
-
"This is a fabulous location real rural living, super cosy comfortable cottage with the added advantage of a hot tub in the garden, which is really a field with sheep all around, very tranquil and delightful."
The owners have really made a real effort with this cottage which is not easy as you are on a working farm! The views from everywhere you look here are simply breathtaking. I would highly recommend this cottage and can’t wait to go again to recharge the batteries. P.S loads of walks right from your front door and great local pub but a fair trek if your walking.
-
"A Super break in a great location, cottage was cosy with everything that you needed."
Lots to explore right on your doorstep. Highly recommend to all like me. Who have never visited the lakes before stunning.
