"Amazing place, such a lovely, clean, spacious cottage with amazing views and lots to do around."
Will definitely be back!
-
"The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed."
The beds were very comfortable. We would definitely recommend it. The only slight disappointment was that the village shop had closed down, so we had to go out of the village to buy bread and milk.

Very nice and clean but next time it may be possible to leave the mop & bucket in the conservatory as it made the downstairs a bit smelly

"Beautiful Cottage - very clean!"
All amenities were in good working order. Everything we needed to make our holiday enjoyable - easy reach of everything… we loved our stay and the real fire was a treat for us all during our stay. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location only the sounds of the countryside close by. The cottage has 3 bathrooms which is an extra feature that’s needed especially when your a family of 5 :) We would recommend this cottage and will definitely stay again.

"We had a lovely stay at Briarcliffe!"
Bedrooms and bathrooms immaculate and the beds extremely comfortable, the only negative which I am reluctant to state but feel it is only fair is the condition of the three piece suite which is well past its best and rather uncomfortable plus has a stale smell to it, which is a shame because it takes the shine off what otherwise was lovely stay.
-
"Briarcliffe cottage, was an excellent place to stay, comfortable, spacious, very clean, beds were very clean, linen provided was lovely & fresh, also the beds, were very comfortable, 3, high spec bathrooms, were a bonus, the down stairs loo was another great bonus."
We would not hesitate to return here if we are up that way again. Highly recommended, if you like peace and quiet, and not too far, from all the tourist attractions in this location. PS: The over zealous pair of cockerel's you could hear did not bother us!!! Regard, from Julie, John, & grandson Caden @Nottingham

"Briarcliffe was an excellent base for our holiday."
It was well equipped and had everything we needed. The additional bathrooms worked well for our family. My only suggestion would be to consider updating the sofa as it was a bit uncomfortable after a long days walking. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend Briarcliffe.

"Lovely property, which had, in fact, been previously owned by my grandfather and was my father's childhood home."
The owner was helpful and accessible. Very quiet, save for an over zealous cockerel! In a wonderful position for walking and travelling to the lakes. Also very warm. Well recommended!
-
"I do nt have any complaints."
The owner was easy to contact before arriving and prior to leaving. I would like to add that an improvement to the quality of cutlery, it was not in keeping with the rest of the cottage, i.e. it was poor quality and uncomfortable to use. I would like to see a set of 6 matching wine glasses and other glasses for use in the cottage, we couldnt match 3 wine glasses.

"Great cottage in a lovely location"
-
"Only 2 of us stayed, plenty of room and comfortable for 6 people."
All very satisfactory except for the suite (2 sofas & chair) in lounge very uncomfortable as seat padding has been worn down. Otherwise had a lovely visit.
-
"Great space."
Comfortable and handy for shopping etc
-
"Well equipped home."
Lovely having a bathroom for every bedroom with additional WC downstairs. Good size rooms. Great location. Property as described on Sykes website. Friendly owners. Would recommend.
-
"Briarcliffe cottage was absolutely fantastic!"
Much larger than we thought, spotlessly clean, comfortable, with so many extras, everything was catered for! So many toilets make things so much better. A pleasant garden to sit out in and lovely positioned in an off the road back lane. We loved it! Thanks so much

"Great location, beautiful house, clean and spacious."
Owner is a gentleman, I left a few things and he contacted me and got it to me. Definitely recommend, lovely family holiday
-
"We all were sleeping peacefully in that evening with my one year old baby the day before we leave the cottage."
Suddenly we heard someone banging the door. My one year old boy woke up and start crying. I went to the door to see who was that . There the owner with blue IKEA bags to tell us to put bedding in the bag before we leave on the following day. We were so upset. Simply they could have left outside with note. Other than that all the others were good.
-
"Lovely cottage with great facilities."
Although it had no effect on our holiday we had cause to contact the owner of the property on the day we were leaving.
-
"This is the nicest property we have ever stayed in."
The owner has adapted it so well so that it has all the features of a hotel (en-suite bedrooms, TVs in bedroom etc.) with all the equipment and comfort of a home from home. Spacious and comfortable for 6 people with no sense of being under each other's feet at all. Separate dining room and outdoor eating area were first class. Kitchen well-equipped, downstairs toilet a bonus. For the price, this was an amazing property.
-
"The cottage was excellent and so well placed to tour around the area."
Lovely wee village with a great pub for food and it is a very friendly area.
-
"Photos do not do the property justice, lovely property with everything you could need."
Would benefit from a new barbecue, current one not really useable. Ideal base for exploring South lakes. Had a meal inn the local pub, which was excellent. Property owners helpful but not intrusive.

"I can't think of anything not to like about this property."
It was warm, homely, comfortable, well equipped and more spacious than the pictures indicate. Lindale is a quiet, peaceful little village with one post office (which will be closed by the time you arrive on Saturday and not open again until Monday) and one pub (open Thursday-Sunday). If you like to self cater, the kitchen is well equipped and the separate dining room made us feel like we were eating out! You will need a car - we typically travelled 30 - 60 minutes to go the touristy places around the Lakes, but you can also walk locally and I would definitely recommend nearby Cartmel - very picturesque with some nice places to eat. I would recommend making bookings for any evening meals. We had a nice meal at "The Pheasant" Allithwaite, a short drive away. We went in October, so not warm enough to sit out, but the courtyard garden looked a perfect place to sit. As we went as two couples, it was great that we both had en suites, and an additional family bathroom with bath and a downstairs toilet. Plenty of space in the "garden room" for hanging coats and leaving boots. Thank you to our hosts and Sykes for a great holiday.

"Very clean and we had a wonderful week"
-
"This is a beautifully clean, extremely well equipped and most comfortable cottage."
To be on Morecambe Bay with easy access to all the South Lakes has to offer makes a wonderful holiday, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
-
"We really enjoyed the cottage."
Come prepared to self cater as there is now only one pub open Thurs to Sat. There is a brilliant butchers and take away sin Grange over Sands. We will be coming back here as it is a great base for exploring the Windermere area. The Cottage is great with a very comfortable lounge, large kitchen and nice patio area.
-
"This is a perfect property for a family (3 generation) holiday - plenty of space, great facilities, nice bedrooms, 2 with en suite, well equipped house with all that you need."
Lovely outdoor space too. Property owner was really responsive when we had a query too - thank you!
-
"The Barbecue was not clean and not fit for purpose."
out side table and chairs not very comfortable. Kitchen could have been cleaner, especially with the Covid virus situation. Glass chopping board needs binning as it is a health hazard. Sink bowl is too large for the size sink. it was hard to lift out and empty. recycle bins were full when we arrived. No linen bags to put bedding in when we left. It is a lovely cottage on the whole but just needs the points raised sorting out. There is only one pub and its not 3 min walk. it is only open 3 days The lindale inn is no longer there it is now a car garage . When renting places out you need to let people know what is around and changes. That is a big factor when people are booking.

"The property is as stated, it has many useful gadgets in the house."
2 en-suites, family bathroom and down stairs toilet are great when there are lots of people there., There is enough space that you don't feel on top of each other. There is actually room for 3 small cars on the drive way - you do have to pull in tightly as the parking is against a road leading to a farm. It is in a good location with many great places to visit within an hour. I felt the beds were small - but I am used to a king size - my feet hung off the end (I'm 5ft 4!). The towel rails get really hot - I nearly scaled myself when I touched my arm against it - be aware if going with small children. There is also currently a very loud cockerel at the farm up the lane, he started from about 3.30am so wasn't ideal for uninterrupted sleep. There is a pub 10 minutes up the hill and the local shop has everything you would need. Grange-over-Sands is only 10 minutes away for more local amenities.

"Lovely house, very comfortable home from home."
We all enjoyed our stay very much, beautiful area and very peaceful. Property has everything you need and more. Very nice owners and on hand should you need anything. Great area of the Lake District and an excellent base for visiting other places such as Windermere and Morecombe. Would highly recommend.
-
"Everything was great even had Christmas tree and decorations."
. A perfect base for a holiday.
-
"The cottage was beautiful with everything you needed."
Lovely size and really comfortable. The location was just right, with everything we wanted to visit no more than half an hour away. Very peaceful and relaxing with such beautiful scenery.
-
"Lovely cottage in great location."
All the facilities you would want in a holiday home.
-
"We (6 adults) had a fantastic few days here - a beautiful cottage, extremely comfortable and well equipped."
It really felt like a home from home. Lindale is a lovely little village, providing easy access to the coast and Lakes; a perfect location. We couldn’t have asked for more.
-
"A very well appointed and clean cottage."
-
"Great cottage, with a nice pub about 400m away."
-
"A small hiccup at the start of the trip, as the owners were not expecting us and the key was not in the key safe."
However, this was quickly sorted with a call to the owner. Cottage is spacious, with 3 double bedrooms (two are ensuite), a bathroom, sitting room, dining room, kitchen, conservatory and cloakroom. Also a small garden and parking for two cars. Facilities were fine, including WiFi. Dishwasher tablets were supplied so we used that every day, but we didn't have any washing powder so we were not able to use that. Grill and oven could do with a thorough clean. There is a small post office two minute walk away, stocking basic food stuffs. For bigger shops you can drive to Grange over Sands (10 minutes away) for Tesco Express or Co-op stores. Cottage is in the southern end of the Lakes, close to the bottom end of Windermere and also not far from Coniston. Bit of a drive to get up to the northern lakes. It provided a comfortable base for our stay.

"Cottage and area was great ,cottage even had free wi, all bedrooms had TV."
So would recommend this cottage
-
"A lovely cottage with plenty of room and good facilities."
A great location less than 10 mins to Windemere in one direction and the coast at Grange in the other.
-
"A lovely cottage in a nice village."
Good for exploring the area.
-
"Cottage well presented and clean."
In a lovely location not isolated but nicely private. Neighbours all friendly and when walking around village many people said Hello. Had a great week and will certainly return

"Wi-fi problem XXXX Owner Response XXXX The fault with the WiFi has now been rectified."

"The cottage was lovely and set in the small village of Lindale."
Great gastro pub - Royal Oak only 10 min walk away. Cottage is very clean and had everything you could really ask for. Only two issues:- Wifi was very patchy on occasions and would work for say 15 mins with great speeds but then suddenly crash - just needs sorting and is a common theme in the reviews. We are used to a 5.5 foot bed and the standard double is just not big enough for us. Plenty of room for a larger bed in the master room though. If these two points could be rectified we would be delighted to return.
-
"A fantastic cottage."
Felt like we were at home. Children didn't want to leave. Thank you again.
-
"It's was not clear that the open fire had a starter pack and would have to be maintained by the visitors."
It's not ideall since for us were not familiar with the surroundings and did not know we're to get the logs/coals from so that was not good! Plus it requires a car.
-
"Very good with accommodation as required."
Only drawback was the Lindale itself does not have shops so a car is required.
-
"It was a great holiday the WiFi was disappointing and tv didn't work for the first two days but the house was lovely"

The property
A fabulous, stone-built, semi-detached cottage, quietly nestling in the traditional Lakeland village of Lindale, on the scenic and largely undiscovered Lakeland Peninsula.
Lovingly renovated in 2007 to provide a superb blend of original character with contemporary style, Briarcliffe Cottage is spacious and stylish throughout, boasting an open fire, two lavish en-suite bathrooms with underfloor heating and a charming summer room leading to an attractive courtyard garden.
There are many pleasant walks from the doorstep, whilst Lindale's quaint, narrow streets are home to traditional dwellings, a shop and welcoming old pubs.
Cartmel, the coastal resorts of Arnside and Grange-over-Sands and mystical Lake Windermere are all well worth a visit.
An idyllic holiday retreat.
About the location
LINDALE
Grange-over-Sands 2 miles; Cartmel 3.6 miles; Windermere 12 miles.
Lindale, a small village situated in the south of The Lake District National Park, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and just a few miles from Lake Windermere, makes the area a perfect holiday destination. Set amidst the charm of The Southern Lakes, this attractive village, with handy gastropub, The Royal Oak, makes an inspiring choice from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area. Just a few minutes drive brings you to Cartmel, a delightful village to wander around, famed for its delicious sticky toffee pudding, 12th century priory, National Hunt race meetings and gourmet restaurants. You could also visit Grange-over-Sands, a charming seaside Edwardian town. Take a stroll on the promenade and return through the quaint narrow streets with some lovely tea rooms and specialist shops including a bakery, chocolatiers, and award winning butchers. The Lake District has so much to offer, there is sailing on Windermere, cycling in The Grizedale Forest, Go Ape Treetop adventures, Birdwatching at Leighton Moss and The Foulshaw Osprey Experience. There are also stately homes at Holker Hall, Levens Hall and Sizergh Castle and a heritage steam railway which runs from Haverthwaite to Lakeside. The Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Beauty is also a short journey away. But leaving the best till last, walking or touring in the fabulous Lake District, with its fells, lakes and tarns is an absolute must, most of which is just a short drive or walk away.
