  • "Fantastic huge house!"

    Everything we needed thank you. Bedrooms were huge and beds comfy. Only downside was the settees in the Lounge were very uncomfortable; none of us were able to sit comfortably at night, sorry. Also, lots of ants at the front door which were coming into the room over the step every time you opened the door. We poured a few kettles full of hot water to keep them away but needs proper ant bait stations putting there. Great village but no shop, food in the Royal Oak was beautiful.

  • "Really well maintained property with excellent amenities."

    The second lounge / games room upstairs makes it great for families. A lot of thought and care from the owners has gone into making the cottage welcoming and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • "One advantage for a couple staying in a 3 bed cottage is the additional living space available and that’s certainly the case here."

    The generously sized lounge area with seating for 6 leads onto a dining room with ample space and then the large kitchen with plenty of space for both cooking and eating. Bedrooms and bedding were both excellent. On arrival we were concerned there may be road noise because of the proximity of the nearby roundabout but the cottage was quiet and peaceful. Parking at rear is tight but not really a problem unless you’re driving a monster truck. The X6 bus passes though in both directions around 30 minutes past the hour so it’s no problem getting into Grange, Ulverston or Kendal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Recommended

  • "We had a lovely stay at Portobello,so homely & very warm!"

    !,had a problem with the shower,rang maintenance & it was sorted that day,nothing was to much trouble.Linden is a little village has a pub up the road,which was nice & within easy walking distance,& Linden itself very central,we did loads while staying here,Grange-Over-Sands,Cartmel,9Keswick,Ambleside,Windermere,visit to the Lakeland Museum,& the aquarium & so much more!!! The week went way to quick,highly recommend Portobello,& we shall be back in the future

  • "Overall the property good, a lovely layout, the beds were very comfortable, and excellent quality."

    The seating was clean and functional, tv was good. We couldn’t believe the quality of the kitchen and how it was equipped. The showers were ok, the shower in the bath needs attention, probably the bath needs levelling, and a sealed screen. The on-suit is shower was ok perhaps a new shower head. Both loo seats need refitting, so they don’t move. I am a builder plumber, and I am experienced in these minor details that you may choose to address. Overall we enjoyed the property very much thank you. We will be looking to come again. Regards Richard Gauld

  • "The cottage was lovely and clean."

    The additional seating space in the loft was a great bonus especially for the kids who loved it. We would recommend this cottage to others. Only negative was the parking ,we had two cars and the parking for the additional car was out of sight of the cottage.

  • "Really lovely property with more amenities than we realised!"

    The welcome pack of tea, sugar, biscuits and milk in the fridge was a really lovely touch, thank you! We had the best stay here, thank you. It was perfect for our two dogs and baby and the location was brilliant! We especially appreciated the stair gates which were a real bonus for both the dogs and baby! The bed was super comfy and despite being on a main road it wasn’t noisy at all, we had a really relaxing stay. Just one note - the en suite shower head had quite a bit of black mould around the jets so needs a bit of a clean. Other than that the house was immaculate. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend!

  • "Lovely cottage, spacious, comfortable and the loft room is a lovely bonus area when you have a teenager with you."

    The multiple retractable dog guards are utter genius, made it so easy to keep our dogs comfortable but tidily contained.

  • "We had a lovely week at this property, which had everything we needed, and was comfortable throughout."

    We had minor inconvenience with the dishwasher being faulty and the bluetooth speaker not working, but these didn't really detract from an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

  • "This is a gem."

    It is only 8 minutes from FellFoot on Windermere. The property is quite large. Three big bedrooms and great downstairs living space. Light and airy. The kitchen had everything you could need and a few more things thrown in. Clean and tidy. If you look it up on google maps don't be put off by the road being close. It wasn't loud and we didn't notice it. Will definitely be back.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Portobello, just a shame there was no way to communicate with the owners, as Sykes were well below par in the customer service dept and it did cause us problems during our holiday."

    The kitchen was well equipped and we loved the quality of the decor. Sitting in the garden watching the wildlife was fab and our dog Teddy was so settled. Shame about the football table being broken when we arrived but we could overlook that. Definitely would visit again but not through Sykes and would be better if there was a way to contact the owners nearer to the arrival date. Thanks you.

  • "Well located and spacious."

    The garden is very steep but well maintained (dog could escape if it wanted to). The extra sitting room in the attic was a bonus. Parking for a second car is on the road but not too far from the house, didn’t have an issue as long as you respect the residents spaces. Unusually there were no basic cleaning projects provided so we did end up buying some and no welcome treats, which is always a nice touch. Otherwise though no issues and enjoyed the property, especially as it’s a short drive to Windermere.

  • "The property was really spacious, the room upstairs is really cosy and the kids loved the football table."

  • "Portobello was a spacious and comfortable property that was always a pleasure to return to after a busy day."

    The kitchen was very spacious and well equipped. Books, games, maps and guides to local attractions were plentiful. The two main bedrooms were spacious and light with large and very comfortable beds. The location was excellent for access to the Southern Lakes, being on a quiet side-road and with quick access to the main road. The garden, although steep and terraced, enjoyed sunshine for most of the day with several places to sit.

  • "Extremely well equipped property, very tastefully furnished."

    Felt home from home. Really good for our dog to be able to roam the garden without worry of him escaping. Excellent bathrooms and showers. Bedrooms a very good size and very comfortable. Great selection of books, games and dvd's. We would definitely return to this property.

The property

Tucked away in the picturesque village of Lindale in the Lake District National Park is this characterful, semi-detached Georgian house, Portobello.

Stylishly presented with high ceilings and period features, this stone-built cottage is set over three floors with spacious living areas and a private courtyard, ideal for a group of friends or family of six.

Find an off-road parking space upon arrival to make yourself at home with ease.

Be welcomed into the sitting room, decked with artwork, three plush sofas and a Smart TV, with the warmth of the electric flame effect fire for added ambiance.

Step through into the dining room to gather the family together for hearty meals by the gas stove after the day's adventures; cook books are provided in the book shelf for budding chefs to try something new!

Whilst cooking in the beautiful, well-equipped kitchen, complete with a range cooker, dishwasher and a breakfast table to keep the chef company, you'll feel the warmth of underfloor heating on the porcelain tiles.

Set amidst the charm of The Southern Lakes, this attractive village, with handy gastropub, The Royal Oak, makes an inspiring choice from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area. Just a few minutes drive brings you to Cartmel, a delightful village to wander around, famed for its delicious sticky toffee pudding, 12th century priory, National Hunt race meetings and gourmet restaurants. You could also visit Grange-over-Sands, a charming seaside Edwardian town. Take a stroll on the promenade and return through the quaint narrow streets with some lovely tea rooms and specialist shops including a bakery, chocolatiers, and award winning butchers.
