"This is a beautiful cottage."
Amazing garden. Comfy beds. Great wifi and smart TV for those rainy days in front of a film. Wonderful open fire with fuel provided. Comfy beds. Could do with some modernisation in terms of shower and furniture. But a really good base for us fell walkers.

"The location makes this cottage superb for walkers."
Excellent, modest-scale property, comfortable, cosy even in winter (with central heating supplemented by open fire, with copious supply of logs and coal). Large enough garden with pleasant view. The property is extremely difficult to find, down winding, extremely narrow, back alleys, and barely has room for any parking except tiny car. National Trust car park nearby (free parking for NT members), or village hall parking. Would readily stay again.
We are pleased that you enjoyed staying at Thwaite How. The narrow and winding lanes do take some getting used to, but that is the Lake District designed before the motor car.
Visitors with a very large car will find two car parks about 1min walk away, (pay).

"What’s not to like: a gorgeous, cosy cottage, set in beautiful surroundings with excellent access to stunning walks and a fantastic pub 150 footsteps away!"
We loved Thwaite How with its characterful rooms, lovely furniture and fittings, warmth, space, usefulness and comfort. It was perfect for our two teenage children and us. Space to store away walking gear, a great kitchen, a spacious bathroom, nice bedrooms and plentiful living space to spread out in. Warm, comfortable and beautifully kept; just what’s needed as a base for a Lakeland adventure!
We are are very pleased with your positive feedback.
Thank you.

"We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay at Thwaite How."
The garden was ideal to both sit in and let our collie out into without her escaping to explore! Next door’s collie seems to be a regular visitor to the garden by the way, especially first thing in the morning.
Otherwise it was a great base to head off for walks and the Yew Tree was a great destination for an early evening stroll.
We are pleased that you enjoyed the stay at Twaite How. We keep the garden secure as we bring our own dogs when visiting, the dog visitor will probably a farm sheepdog, they can jump over most stone walls.

The property is spacious and comfortable with a nice garden. There are lovely walks nearby and Keswick is well worth a visit. If you like beautiful scenery, nice walks and watersports I recommend this property. There is also an interesting tour of local slate mines in the area.

"Really nice and comfortable cottage surrounded by amazing views."
Direct access to hills and river streams for walking. Cottage has everything needs for family and clean and tidy . Nice decent size garden. Garage was more than enough to park medium size car. Needs some skills. Everyone enjoy our time in Thwaite house. 100% recommend. Thank you.
We are very pleased that you enjoyed the stay at Thwaite How, it is in a beautiful location. Earlier this year we enlarged the off road parking area to allow larger vehicles better access, it leaves an option to the visitor about using the garage. I will pass the comments on to our housekeeper that her work is appreciated. Thank you.

"Excellent cosy cottage with good facilities."
The weather was typical Borrowdale weather, with some localised flooding, but the cottage always provided a warm retreat. There was plenty of logs and coal supplied to keep the fire warm and the radiators always kept the temperature comfortable. We had 6 adults and two dogs but never found the cottage too small. One room is small with bunk beds but I'm 6ft and managed a decent night's kip. The garden is secure and has great views, would be excellent for a summer BBQ. We had three vehicles with us including a campervan and didn't find parking in the local area difficult. Hopefully will return in the near future.
Thankyou for the feedback, always nice when visitors appreciate the lovely location and comfortable accommodation.

"Great location, although view somewhat blocked by adjacent buildings."
Quaint cottage; accomodation tight for six, particularly kitchen. Stairs need care. Night storage not ideal, and hot water ran out. No good areas for drying wet walking gear. Both waste bins full; can't have been emptied for some weeks. Excellent dog-friendly garden. Good local cafe. Parking and access for cars is poor; village car park does not allow overnight parking, so listing should be amended accordingly. Why not knock down the garage, replacing with car port (there is space for two cars) and extended kitchen.
Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback following your stay at Thwaite How. We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable holiday in our quaint rural cottage, the cottage is located in a village setting amongst beautiful, breath taking scenery the views are outstanding from most aspects of the house. Please accept out apologies that you had some concerns during your stay, please be assured that had this information been forthcoming during your stay we would have investigated and rectified any concerns you raised, we hope however this did not detract from your enjoyment of the Lake District and hopefully look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

"Great cottage , ideally situated for exploring the borrowdale valley."
Parking tight , but this is covered in the advert. I found it easier to pull in tight to the garage rather than park in it.
Garden enclosed and a lovely spot to enjoy a few moments of relaxation.
Kitchen is well equipped but ensure you stock up on way to rosthwaite as the nearest shop is in keswick , a 20 min drive, although the flock inn does sell some essentials.
2 pubs within walking distance .
Overall thwaite howe is a comfortable well equipped cottage . 2 fair sized double bed rooms and a smaller room with bunkbeds. Ideal for a young family or small group of adults. Living room comfortable with ample seating for 4- 5 adults.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at thwaite howe.
Only holiday cottage I have rented where there was no welcome pack - not that this is essential but would be a nice touch .
Thanks for the feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed the location in the Borrowdale valley. We are hoping to enlarge the parking area.

"This was a very pleasant cottage with a lovely little enclosed garden."
There was plenty of space for two of us plus small dog. I am sure it would have been okay for four, but six might have been a bit of a push, especially in the rather small dining room. The location in the hamlet of Rosthwaite in the beautiful Borrowdale valley is wonderful. Disappointingly, unlike many of the rental properties we have visited, there was no welcome pack, not even a couple of tea bags and a drop of milk for a cuppa after a long journey. Remember to take your own, However the property has one very big drawback, the on-site parking. Although the instructions blithely say you can park in the adjoined garage, this is in fact a VERY tight space even for our relatively compact car, with stone walls very close indeed and severely restricting turning space to get in and out. I would only recommend this for drivers who are very confident to manoeuvre their vehicle in unfamiliar and intimidating tight spaces. There is however a small car park a short distance away if you are content to park off site. This should be made clearer on the property details rather than simply promising on site parking. Sadly for us continual worry about the parking rather marred what would otherwise have been a lovely holiday.
Thank you for the comprehensive review. The parking is described in our literature and there is a photograph of the garage area, only suitable for a small or medium sized vehicles. For many years our large Volvo estate car was parked in the garage. A public car park nearby(NT) is suitable for larger vehicles.
We hope that you appreciated the wonderful scenery on the doorstep of our COTTAGE.

The car parking was really difficult, as so snug and not really suitable for a big car.
Yes the garage is not suitable for very large cars, we will advise visitors. Car parks are available nearby.
