  • "Lovely quaint wee cottage had every thing."

For our 6 day stay. Loved the wood burner n looked forward to getn back to get it on. Very well equipped with all utensils need for a stay away from home. Situated in a quiet wee village, well positioned to visit historical and interesting places, great wee cafe in High Bentham for breakfast and local shops for quick shops. Brilliant stay cosy comfortable cottage Only negative aware that its dog friendly as we had our wee chorkie and that the previous people had left the day we arrived but found it difficult to settle with the stains on the carpets would recommend purchasing a spot washer for accidents vx

I'm glad you had a nice stay af Cobble Cottage, Unfortunately with the carpet being light in colour it can get marked from time to time,I think the area you are referring to on the carpet is where it was spot cleaned by my housekeeper and it looks a slightly different colour which is to be expected when the whole carpet isn't done at the same time. I regularly check the property and I have a very good sense of smell and I would have noticed if there had been an animal accident as the smell is quite distinctive and would only get worse if not dealt with accordingly, Not all pets are happy when then are taken into a strange environment and I don't think that would indicate that there is something wrong with the carpets ,I have had no complaints from any other guests about this issue Property Owner

  • "The cottage was very clean on arrival and comfortable with quality furnishings."

On perhaps a less positive note advertised parking is not brilliant being on the road which is somewhat narrow and just after a bend meaning a parked vehicle may not be readily visible and could be sideswiped. I parked in a free car park just off the main road through Low Bentham. Lo0cation, down the hill, turn left and about maybe 100 yards up on the right.. The cottage is elevated from the road and access is via a rather steep poorly maintained cobbled drive ; a rail is provided on the low wall to provide a firm hold. Other than those two proviso's we were very happy with the cottage and recommend. Note that most pubs in the area finish serving food at 8pm but that is no reflection on the accommodation.

I'm sorry if you were disappointed about the parking, the property description does clearly state that parking is on the roadside which unfortunately I can do nothing about,Alot of the cottages and houses in the village do not have parking as the cottage dates back to 1875 before cars were about ,With the cottage being set off the road I can't do anything about the cobbled approach which is shared with the other 5 cottages, I'm glad you had a nice stay Property Owner

We were provided with everything we needed even a packet of welcome biscuits and tea, coffee and milk for us and some treats for the dog - very nice gesture. The cottage is small but was completely adequate for our needs with lovely fittings and furnishings. Quiet location with a great pub at the bottom of the hill (although opening times were a bit hit and miss)! Will definitely return. Thank you.

Ideal for long walks and many from the front door. The cottage was clean and tidy. Comfortable sitting room, excellent bathroom and well equipped kitchen.... as "foodies" the only thing we could have done with was a garlic press. The stools in the kitchen arent the most comfortable if you want to spend long over a meal, but having the choice of a comfortable sofa to relax on after food was great. The back yard could do with a little sort as some of the plants arent too happy. The table in the back yard was a perfect spot for breakfast outside. The sunny bench in the front of the cottage was a lovely spot for an early morning cuppa.

Great little pub at the end of the road and more facilities just 1.3 miles away in High Bentham. Cottage is lovely, cosy and well equipped with all you need for a home from home stay away. There is a lovely little patio area at the rear which will be a great space for relaxing and enjoying the sun in the summer months. The only downside was there was no washcloth or pan scrubber for washing up on our first evening which was a little inconvenient but resolved the next day with a trip to the Co-op in High Bentham.

Tricky to get up path from road if you are less able. But it's perfect. Bed comfortable, shower lovely. Kitchen well equipped. We arrived later than expected due to a breakdown. So we're exhausted, welcomed by lights and heating on. Had Christmas Day in lovely surroundings and very relaxing. Cobble Cottage is probably one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Small yard in back. We had 5 of the stormiest days at Cobble. So snug.

The rooms of the cottage were all comfortable and and pretty. It was very warm with the windows only being able to open a little way, so it can get hot! The cottage is extremely small. The single bedroom has no facility to hang clothes and the wardrobe in the double room was part of the chest of draws. To cook and eat in the kitchen was a logistical exercise. For dog owners - the area isn’t very dog friendly. Decent walks a a car ride away.

I am sorry Eric if you felt the cottage was too small but we feel the pictures depict the true size of the cottage and have had many positive comments of the character of the cottage and how cosy it is ,There is a chest of drawers in the small bedroom and the pictures clearly show that there is no wardrobe or hanging space which if that wasn’t what you required it was still booked for your holiday, In the main bedroom there is a combi wardrobe with shelves and drawers,I don’t quite understand your issue with the kitchen as there is plenty of worktop space and a table that opens up to give you more space when eating ,Cobble Cottage is in a lovely friendly village and is very dog friendly with lovely walks directly from the door and a riverside walk close by there is also a dog friendly pub at the bottom of the road,I spoke to you a couple of days into your stay and asked if everything was ok for you and nothing was mentioned if you were not happy . We had a relatively short and pleasant journey to Cobble Cottage from the Wirral. From walking through the front door until the moment we sadly left we enjoyed an absolutely memorable stay. Cobble is beautifully appointed, comfortable and cozy. I had an absolute labour of love with the log burner. Gas combination boiler was also a real plus providing a heating alternative and instant hot water. All of the appliances were modern, reliable and user friendly. Rooms beautifully furnished and beds were so comfortable. Slept like logs. Adored the stable door in the kitchen. To say the Welcome basket was generous and contents of high quality is an understatement. Fabulous property. Also, great pub with lovely hosts The Sundial Inn is a few minutes walk away. Also special thanks to Sykes staff for reinstating the original booking due to an error with my bank. Professionally handled with courtesy and understanding. No surprise there then! Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Just a few minor points would make a difference. There were enough plates, bowls, glasses etc to throw a party yet only 2 mugs! which is what you would use most, just a bit of a pain having to wash them after every drink. Also some hooks on the small bedroom and bathroom doors would be handy for hanging clothes. The biscuits and milk left for us was much appreciated. There was a small yard at the rear which was a suntrap. Unfortunately it was impossible to enjoy the tranquility of the place because of the building work going on next door and also there was a building site just up the road which was very noisy. I think we should have been made aware of this beforehand as it spoilt our stay. Apart from this the cottage /village was lovely, just don't go on holiday to be disturbed by building noise

Thank you very much for your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Cobble Cottage, I apologise for the lack of mugs as breakages do occur but this issue has been rectified, I have spoken to the owners of the adjoining cottage and they have assured me that they were only doing work there for 1 day that particular week, the renovations to their cottage are coming to a close now with only decorating and garden work to be completed. There is a small redevelopment of the former village primary school which is not directly adjacent to the property but higher up in the village behind another row of cottages, the village is quiet so sound will carry and I'm sorry if this spoilt your stay. Quiet little village. Clean and nice kitchen. Beds were comfortable. I came here with my nine year old boy. We had a super time. Walked the three peaks together. Even climbed up gordale scar waterfall in malham. Adventurous week and a pleasure to come back to the cottage to cook and relax. Off to the local for pub meal tonight. Very friendly. Would love to come back

Few very minor little things I could point out but the new owners are dealing with these. Beds very comfy, and beautiful clean bedding and plenty of towels. We enjoyed the wood burning stove though you do need ALOT of wood
