  • "Fabulous apartment Bathroom was wonderful"

    Reviewed by Eliza5.0Sep 2024

  • "The location was fantastic, a wildlife paradise."

The kitchen was very well equipped. Unfortunately there were a few other issues, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in the main bedroom, the bathroom had black mould growing on the panels, the shower door leaks so much the bathroom floor floods and the plug still doesn’t fit the bath. The boiler noise was the worst.. like a dragon waking up from 3:30am through to 7am … ruined our sleep each night.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear you had issues with the bathroom and the boiler noise. The owner has now replaced the bathroom and also the noise was the water tank heating the water at night but the water tank has now also been removed. We hope you wish to return in the future to see the improvements to the property. - The owner relations team. Property Owner

  • "It's a lovely place."

The plug in the bath is too small for the hole (it's the same plug that was there last year!) which makes it difficult to have a bath. I broke my arm on the Sunday making a shower impossible. A plug that fits would be great. Otherwise, a warm, comfortable stay.

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that the plug hadn't been sorted, however we have now raised a work order for this to resolved. We are glad that you enjoyed the property and all that the area has to offer. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

  • "When we arrived the place was lovely and warm, very clean."

The view from the lounge and the bedroom was amazing. The place had everything we needed for our stay. The setting of the place was fantastic for us. Not very far to Windermere or Coniston, or lots of other routes to the Lake District. There was a short walk to the local pub, which was nice. The service there was fantastic, so was the food. The walk back is up a steep hill but easily managed. We would definitely recommend puddle duck cottage. Thank you

  • "A previous reviewer said "not at all plush"!"

Well, maybe if you've just come from a week at the Savoy your point makes sense; otherwise it's nonsense... Let's be clear: the property is EXTREMELY comfortable - plump sofas, pampering beds, heavy fabrics, swaddling towels, fully equipped kitchen, tasteful decor... The French windows onto the patio offered a relaxing place to unwind and take in the view of the gardens and the distant hills. The setting was delightful, both the estate itself and the positioning of the property within the estate. We have been staying in the Lake District for decades and this was the most appealing place we have stayed at. A couple of minor issues: * Hot water from the kitchen tap is little more than a dribble * The whole tap housing swivels and has obviously come a bit loose * The partition for the shower lets water out onto the bathroom floor All very minor stuff which didn't affect the enjoyment of our holiday in the slightest.

  • "Clean, airy, lovely views, mainly peaceful."

Pool was closed all week due to a maintenance issue. Great weather so other people sitting outside on balconies late at night were quite noisy at times but didn't really disturb us much. Also some noise from people in flat above us coming in late at night, but again not really a problem. Lovely wooded site with birds and red squirrels. Plenty of good walks from the door.

Thank you for your kind words. I am glad that the noise from neighbours wasn't an excessive disruption and that you were able to enjoy all the area has to offer. Heart of the Lakes Owners Team Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our visit to Puddleducks, the apartment and equipment were good and my husband enjoyed the sauna and swimming pool."

It was lovely seeing the birds though I had to get another feeder for the tree. I always feed the birds when we stay at Neaum crag, it is lovely watching the large variety of birds. We also saw deer in the woods near the car park. There are so many wonderful walks from the door, particularly Loughrigg tarn. There are a few things that could be improved - the shower screen leaks as it is too far over, we had to wedge it over towards the bath or it leaks all over the floor. The tap in the bathroom doesn't always go off properly and needed lifting slightly to stop the drip. When we arrived the hot water had been switched off so we put it back on. It is however rather noisy from about 5am when it comes on to heat up the water. Hope that is helpful, we have stayed at many of the apartments and would certainly choose to stay in this one again.

Thank you for your kind comments, we are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We take all comments on board, and will be looking into the points raised. We hope to welcome you back. Property Owner

  • "We love this little apartment, the location is perfect for our needs."

The apartment is always spotless and facilities are really good except for the shower. The shower is poor with only just enough water flowing to wet you enough to wash yourself adequately. I’m not sure I would return due to this problem as washing your hair is not as easy as it should be and there are other holiday cottages where this isn’t a problem.

The location is perfect for exploring without your car. The accommodation is very comfortable. The only thing I’d say it needs is a few of the basics in the kitchen. Cooking oil, tea and coffee (at least for arrival) etc. We’ll happily return in the future.

Easy location for Ambleside and Grasmere. Watching birds flying, feeding while eating breakfast. Just a pity canopy of trees doesn’t let sunshine through, but that’s nature!

Surroundings & accommodation were fab and just what we needed. Out of the way, peaceful and idilic. Extremely friendly little dog that came to visit every day that we called Oscar ( not got a clue what it was called LOL). Pool was an added bonus and very relaxing. Overall it was a 10/10 from us. • "This is a lovely place to stay - and we have stayed twice before."

However, we were really disappointed that the pool facilities were not available. They had been listed when we booked and were a key reason why we chose this property. No discount was offered and we were only informed at the last minute the pool would (still) be closed. We also understand that this is beyond the owners’ control. However pools have been reopened elsewhere for many months and we were very disappointed not to be able to use those facilities. Also, having stayed twice before at Puddleduck were were surprised by the considerable price increase this year. This feels gratuitous and I doubt we’ll book again.

The only disappointing thing is that we weren’t able to use the facilities at Neaum Cragg such as the pool etc. I was there with my daughter and 2 grandsons who would have loved to use the facilities. Especially disappointing as pools around the country have been open for some time but I appreciate this is out of your hands and the hands of the owners of Puddleduck who I’m sure are equally disappointed. Thank you for a lovely break! Neaum Cragg is so wonderfully peaceful and a fabulous retreat from all that is going on in the world right now.

The worst thing though was the hot water pressure, which was non existent. It took about half an hour to run a bath and the shower was very poor. There were some lovely walks straight from the apartment, which was lovely and it was nice not to take the car out a couple of times.
