"The property was easy to find following the instructions."
The cottage was large and had everything that was needed. The hosts were on hand and very pleasant. The beds were comfortable and the family all slept well. The location is very quiet and peaceful, very little cars and only the birds to wake you up in the morning. Plenty of places to visit, near to the A6 and M6. Not everyones cup of tea, but it was certainly ours.

"Up. The property was absolutely perfect, clean, spacious, we could all be alone within the property if we wanted too, without disturbing each other."
The owners were lovely and attentive, available, polite and felt like we were no bother. They were waiting for us as we arrived good afternoon and met the cars, and a 'good morning' goes a long way, they were able to offer information and advice. The property was a little hard to find at first. But follow the instructions provided and you will be fine. Parking was interesting, because other guests were wanting spaces right outside. The property is in a courtyard and enclosed. Nowhere is further than 50 feet away to park. Its all great. if you know the film Withnall and I, you are around 3 miles from 'crow crag' or Shap Hall, in Wet Sledale. Although hard to access these days, it is there if you want to. good strong water hot and cold. Although a notice of no towels provided was given, there was 1 per person on the beds. Washer, dishwasher, fridge, cooker, oven, toaster, kettle, microwave, tv in every room, books, large dining table, cleaning things, iron, hoover, basically home away from home. Very quiet area, so lovely, slept like logs. Would book again for sure. Down. the wifi is free, but is hit and miss and seems to be a shared system throughout the full courtyard. Some evenings great some not good. This is an issue if you need to plan things on arrival, as the general phone connection in the area is bad to zero. So plan plan plan peeps!. This is however a minor problem and a 1st world one tbh. Overall 9 out of 10. Wifi would have got the 10 for us, but thats our problem rather than the cottages.

"Really loved the stay."
Would be good to have more cleaning facilities I.e. mop, bucket, brooms etc. There were lots of cobwebs. A deep clean is needed to help make guests feel even more welcome. Hosts were very pleasant.

"Really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was a great base for our activities which spanned across the Lake District and the North Pennines."
The cottages was warm and spacious for our group and had a well equipped kitchen. Wifi was hit and miss but didn't affect us too much.

"The cottage was lovely and well equipped."
Despite the listing stating no towels, They were actually provided, as were basics like washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets , and a decent supply of toilet rolls, all of which were very welcome. There’s even a downstairs cloakroom, which wasn’t listed but very welcome More attention needed of the cleaning as we found hairs in the en suite bath plug hole! On the downside, there isn’t a shop nearby if you run out of milk or bread so make sure you’re well stocked up. Penrith is a half hour drive away and has plenty of large supermarkets though. Overall, a very secluded beautiful cottage in a quiet but friendly village. We had the added bonus of beautiful weather the week we stayed too which added to the beauty of the place. Would recommend if you have transport and intend to travel further afield for activities, or if you actually relish being secluded and a bit cut off from the world!

"The house is in a beautiful surrounding."
The owner was easy to talk to and replied quickly. It was great place to get to other towns or cities nearby. The house itself is spacious, clean and good for 5 or 6 people with or without children. We had fun being there.

"A very peaceful situation and a comfortable cottage with everything we needed; I especially liked having a second lounge as it meant having a tv lounge and a quiet room for games and reading."

"The cottage was spacious and clean."
Very well equipped. Lovely views of the country side, very quite location but a good base. WiFi and phone signal hit and miss. Really enjoyed this family break.

"Superb cottage with plenty of room and lovely and quiet."
Ideal base to get about the local area. Great that owner was nearby who was very friendly and helpful. Set in a delightful courtyard away from it all but A6 and motorway only 4 miles up the road.

This stone terraced cottage lies within a courtyard of similar properties in the Cumbrian village of Newby. Stonegarth Cottage is a four bedroom refurbishment adjacent to the owner's home and offers a peaceful location from which to base a family holiday and exploration of the Lake District and the North Pennines. The open plan kitchen has all you need to conjure up a masterpiece, with a dining area alongside.
If your family can't make up their minds as to whether or not to watch TV, there are two sitting rooms to choose from, keeping all satisfied.
On the first floor there are four bedrooms to choose from.
The master bedroom is a double with its own en-suite, while the rest of the family can share a twin and two singles. Stonegarth Cottage shares a courtyard space with four other cottages, but that doesn't mean there is no outside space.
A large dining set on your own terrace satisfies any al fresco dining desires. Newby is a small village, but less than a mile up the road is its fellow parish village of Morland, where you can sample the delights of the local inn. The location is an ideal one as it gives holidaymakers a choice as to which area of natural beauty to explore.
Activities abound with the North Pennines offering some wonderful walks to the east, while Ullswater and the delights of the Lake District are only twelve miles to the west. Ideally positioned to make the most of the beautiful countryside of both the Lake District and the North Pennines, Stonegarth Cottage makes the perfect base for a family holiday to Cumbria.
