• "Mill End suited our needs perfectly."

  Very close to Penrith and its facilities but on a cul de sac in a village setting. Being so close to the M6 we had concerns about the possibility of traffic noise. Fear not, because we never heard any road noise but only the gentle babble from the river next to the property. As we were on a motoring holiday due to mobility issues we were within easy reach of most of the lakes but some of the routes were a bit challenging. However, as we had visited the area before we knew what to expect. but beware potholes! We would rate Mill End as one of the best properties that we have had as a holiday let. The owner lives next door which is handy in case of any issues that you might encounter. (We couldn't work out how to get the TV system to work to begin with.) Nothing has been overlooked to make our say comfortable and pleasant. A home from home.

• "Such a lovely house in a great location, nice and quiet, the sound of the river at night is amazing."

  It was super clean and really well equipped. Despite some rainy weather we had some great walks (Lowther castle loop not too far away) and Pooley Bridge/Ullswater only 10 minutes drive away. The dogs loved the garden too. Owner friendly and local but not obtrusive. We would definitely return

• "The property was a fantastic place for ourselves and the dogs everything was perfect and a lovely welcome pack awaited us on arrival, a great location with the river Eamont running alongside the garden and a lovely quiet lane to walk the dogs."

  The locals who we met when walking the dogs were very friendly and helpful. Lots of places to visit within easy reach, Penrith, Pooley bridge, Glenridding, Keswick to name but a few. Trevor the owner who lives near by helped us understand the TV instructions de to us being techniphobes and said he was available if there was anything we needed. Would recommend Mill End to anybody looking for a great holiday rental. 5+ stars .

• "Where to start with this property it was incredible."

  I almost don't want to tell people how good it is lol. The house was absolutely spotless, the cleanest place I've ever stayed. The house is decorated to a very high standard and not a scuff or mark on any of the walls. Soo many glasses (great choice) and mugs, plates etc. I spent alot of time in the kitchen it's absolutely stunning. This property had so many tvs as well, not that i personally watched anything. Sofas are so comfy and soo much room. Beds were very very comfy, if I had to say one negative thing the pillows are a bit firm and uncomfortable but that's minor. The garden is so beautiful and to hear the river was just heaven. Mill End really is such a special place that I've fallen in love with. All very secure for our dog as well. The owners Trev and Heidi are really lovely and helpful and friendly. Although they live across from the property you don't feel like they are on top of you like I've felt in pervious holiday homes. I can not wait to come back, I was really sad to leave, it's deffo stolen a piece of my heart. Thank you ever so much and we will see yous again xx

• "Just got back from a stay at Mill End, fab weather which meant the dogs could enjoy the wonderful enclosed garden!"

  Owners were very friendly and was great knowing they were next door if we needed them. A great location and very close to some fab walks. I can highly recommend Mill End - a real home from home and lovely and spacious!

• "We had a fabulous stay at Mill End."

  The house is beautiful and finished to a very high standard with all mod cons. Kitchen has everything you need. Generous welcome basket. Very comfy beds. Falling asleep to the sound of the river and waking up to the sound of the birds singing. Ample parking. Enjoyed the garden overlooking the river. Our dog absolutely loved it. Great location just off the main routes. The owners are nearby and lovely, on hand to help with anything. Would definitely return. Thanks Heidi and Trevor.

• "A well designed, spacious house, with a high standard of furnishings and fittings."

  It was spotless, well equipped and very comfortable. The garden is large and enclosed, and there are areas nearby where you can walk your dog. Absolutely no complaints; we enjoyed our stay. We have been on self catering holidays for many years, and this was one of the best houses we have stayed in. It is located in a small, quiet village near Penrith within driving distance of the main attractions of the Lake District.

• "Property was clean and tidy."

  Beds were comfortable and clean. Kitchen had everything you needed, they really did think of everything. Lovely personal touches. Well cared for property. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

• "Mill End is ideally located for exploring the Lake District."

  It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen is spacious with a huge island to sit at. The Easter welcome basket was a thoughtful treat. The lounge was very comfortable with a cosy electric fire. It was lovely to sit on the patio listening to the river rushing by. We would definitely return to this property.

• "What an amazing Christmas break we had at Mill End."

  The owners were amazing. Thank you to the owners for making us so welcome you had thought of everything. The owners met us when we got there & said don’t hesitate to ask for anything. The house is at a very high standard & loved that they had decorated the house for Christmas. They had left a very generous welcome basket. A very lovely touch. I have already booked for this year!!!

• "Lovely house and lovely area."

  We arrived on the Monday we had that sigh of relief you have when you arrive at a strange location you’ve booked online, when you drive through the local area. Town of Penrith was on the door step and the villlage the house is located is somewhere you can walk through at night without fear. Virtually crime free. The house is located next to the river which gave a nice relaxing sound when you sleep. No need for Alexa to play relaxing sounds! The house is beautiful. We brought everything we need from tea towels to Salt and pepper but there is no need as the owners had stocked the house with all the essentials, even a welcome basket. Kitchen is a huge cooking and social area with a kitchen island and massive fridge/freezer. To our delight, we forgot to bring ice however the fridge dispenser had an ice option ( took the heat off me!). Living room comfy with electric fire place and the bedrooms where well set up with plenty of places for guests. The garden is fully sealed in for the dog to run around with no worries. We had a brilliant week at Mill end house. Top tip, try the crown pub in the village. Michael the landlord is a great character and does a mixture of English and Thai food. My only negative ( and this negative is only small) the pillows were a little bulky and hard. We would book again and bring those with us.

We use high quality medium pillows to try and suit as many people as possible. I’m glad you felt safe in the area too. I’ve lived in the village all my life and like you say I can’t recall any incidents at all which would make me feel unsafe day or night. • "What a fabulous find couldn’t of wanted for more."

  Everything you would need with a great location and good views of the river. Didn’t want to leave, the pictures do not do the property justice. We stay away a lot all over the country but have family in Penrith and have stayed at a few cottages but cannot praise this one high enough very thoughtful owners have thought of everything to give you a home from home. Sadly there’s only five stars would of like to give them 10.

• "Mill End was everything it promised and more!"

  Excellent welcome pack was provided. Property was spotlessly clean, comfortable and everything we needed was there. Neat and tidy secure garden .. perfect for us and our dog. Communication with owners was excellent. We wouldn’t hesitate to return on any future visits to the Lake District.

• "Mill End is a lovely house in a beautiful setting."

  The sound of the river was most relaxing, and it was wonderful to have a 'resident' heron. The house was extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated with everything you could want, extremely clean and a well-stocked welcome pack, including milk in the fridge - most welcome as we were desperate for a cup of tea when we arrived and had not brought milk with us! The owners were lovely and most approachable. Would be very happy to revisit at a future date.
