  • "We were very disappointed to realise that the outside decking didn't get any sun at all, as it was lovely weather we were hoping to sit out, my husband especially who's mobility is limited was quite but out about it also because the sun was never on it the decking it was very slippery with moss, this should be mentioned on the website, we knew the M6 was quite close, but didn't expect it to be so noisy, the facilities on site were superb and we had some lovely meals, but not much lighting to push a wheelchair back in the dark and the signage is very poor, my friends and I would not book this site again or recommend it."

Many thanks for your feedback. We have noted all of your points but the comment regarding no sunshine we do find absurd. The rear of the lodge and decking is screened by trees offering a high degree of privacy which previous guests welcome. However the decking does receive the sun from mid morning to mid afternoon as can be seen on the pictures in the brochure/ web site. Property Owner

  • "As a previous reviewer we had to sweep and clean the furniture on the veranda."

This was not a day old leaves etc as there were cobwebs all around the veranda rail and the furniture. I think that a curtain or similar across the main door would give privacy at night when wearing night attire in the kitchen area. You are visible to next door. Otherwise the accommodation was very good and as the description on Sykes website.

Thank you for your feedback. The lodge is surrounded by tress providing a high level of privacy from other lodge although it is difficult to ensure the decking and furniture remain 100% free from any falling leaves, especially if the weather is windy. We have noted your comments regarding the main entrance door. Property Owner

  • "Extremely clean and tidy."

Has absolutely everything you need for your self catering stay. Very relaxing, warm, cozy and private. Location is fantastic. We didn’t use the sites facilities as we more than happy to chill in the comfortable surroundings of the lodge. Will definitely be back again.

Thankyou for your comments, we're really thrilled that you had an enjoyable and relaxing stay with us. We would love to welcome you back and if you come in late spring/summer the trees will provide even greater seclusion. Property Owner

  • "Although the accommodation was clean inside the decking area was full of debris as there was trees surrounding , I would expect a small fallout but my guess is the decking hadn’t seen a brush for sometime & it took 45 mins for myself & my 78 yrs old mother to tidy up !"

!! Not what I go on holiday for ….. the windows where dirty & had’nt been cleaned for sometime . There where essential utensils missing in kitchen I.e tongues to turn meat when grilling , no grill pan handle & 1 oven glove !!!! Making I difficult to handle pans coming out of the oven . I guess attention to detail was lacking

Thank you for the feedback, it's disappointing to learn of the issues you have raised here, more so should you have contacted Sykes or myself directly then we could have provided support or advice. Although we have gone above and beyond the list of essential equipment as laid out by Sykes to deliver a comfortable, relaxing and memorable stay, it would appear we are unable to satisfy everyone's needs. Although there are no tongs, forks and spatulas can be found in the utensils drawer to assist with food preparation. The oven glove is a modern single type found in most retailers although I appreciate this may not suit everyone so thank you for raising this. The griddle pan handle should be located in the cupboard above the oven but again this could have been resolved via a telephone call. Finally, the lodge is surrounded by trees thus providing a high degree of privacy from other nearby lodges as can be seen in the photographs, unfortunately leaves do have a habit of falling from trees. Your comment about the time it took to clear the leaves from the decking was of concern and not something I would wish for you to undertake. I therefore spoke to the previous guests who vacated on the morning of your arrival. Their feedback was there were a few leaves on the decking when they left but nothing of concern, I can only assume the weather conditions may have contributed to your comment. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic holiday home, lived up to photographs and more."

Very clean and well equipped. Decking allows a lot of privacy as to back of property. Also, very secure gate so our dog could be outside a lot of the day without worrying about him getting out. Only drawback, and being really picky here, there was no parasol....but as I say that is going overboard, as everything else was everything you could want.

Thankyou for your positive feedback .We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us . Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay at Sherwood 34 and would love to go back again if we can!"

The lodge was beautifully decorated with home comforts and the addition of things like blankets to cosy up in the evenings was a lovely touch. We needed to contact the owners on one occasion and they were very helpful and quick at responding. It was a really good central place to stay between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales and definitely feel this is somewhere we would enjoy coming back to and exploring more of these beautiful areas. There were also good facilities on site and we made the most of the gym, pool and spa on the rainy day.

Thankyou for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and are more than welcome to stay with us again. Property Owner

  • "The lodge was perfect."

Very homely, spotlessly clean was very well set up with everything you would need. Hats off to the owners, a lovely place. Could have stayed a lot longer. Would have been useful to have been emailed a site map with the location of the lodge. We arrived after dark and in the rain, so not easy to find on foot (signposts are few and quite tiny). Overall, had a very relaxing stay. Can’t fault the lodge one bit.

Thankyou for your feedback it's much appreciated. We would like to welcome you back to Sherwood 34 in the future. Property Owner

  • "We had an excellent few days here."

The accommodation is perfect everything you could want for comfort and enjoyment. The lodge was extremely clean and tidy and even a welcome pack. Beds comfortable and furnished to a high standard, very tasteful. Lovely verandah which is very private. The only negative is that you can hear the road noise from the M6. This did not bother us and would not deter us from booking here again. Very nice bar and restaurant on site with pleasant, helpful staff. Well situated to explore the beautiful local area.

  • "Gorgeous place not overlooked & the lake area is so nice."

lovely & clean & attention to detail inside with nice modern touches, ornaments to make it feel homely & the biggest TV I’ve seen! Spacious, loads of storage & nice little seating area on the deck, which is enclosed for dogs. Good little welcome pack too. You can hear the traffic from the M6 & busy A road, not that it bothered me & it means it’s so easy to get to. Couple of things that I didn’t take as I assumed they would be provided is a hairdryer & washing up liquid so we missed those & my daughter was gutted we couldn’t get the led lights working around the TV unit as shown on the pictures, couldn’t find any details on how to switch these on. it’s a bit of a surprise that the park do not recycle the rubbish, but that’s on the park. All in all lovely relaxing stay in the lovely lodge & I would return for another visit.

Thank you for your feedback, really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Apologies that the lighting wasn't working , unfortunately a previous guest decided to disconect the cabling rather than use the remote but hopefully repaired soon. Looking forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner
