"The photograph on listing is very misleading."
This makes locating the property difficult TO LOCATE especially in the dark, and the sign on the cottage can only be seen when approaching fromm the North, These amount to deceit ALL TO PRETEND the cottage is NOT ON THHE ROAD. THE Proximty of car work shop and coal depot and school are also minimised. These spoilt our holiday and NEED TO BE CORRECTED!!!
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you found the photographs to be misleading. We will take a look at the listing to ensure that it is accurate. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"Beautiful cottage in a super location."
Clean, spacious and well equipped. Easy walk to the village of Hawkshead and so much to do in the local area. My family particularly enjoyed Go Ape at Grizedale, a boat trip along Windermere and walking to the top of Latterbarrow. Our only negatives were that the beds were very soft and that there was no mention of the restricted head room in some parts of the cottage, i.e shower! Apart from that we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

"The cottage is absolutely beautiful, very tastefully decorated with excellent attention to detail and immaculately clean."
Fantastic location, just a short stroll into the village. Garden is very picturesque and the parking facilities are great. The cottage has everything you could possibly need with lots of extras provided by the owners. I cannot recommend enough, we will certainly be booking again!

"Had a lovely time."
Beautiful cottage, lovely garden. Would have liked to be able to open the windows . But otherwise all was good. Very well equipped.
-
"A beautiful cottage, very tastefully appointed with everything we could possibly need."
The wine, sherry and biscuits were a lovely welcoming touch. The location of the cottage within easy walking distance of Hawkshead was perfect. Parking for two cars was good. We really enjoyed our stay at Syke Cottage and hope to return sometime in the future.
-
"Really enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage in a perfect location just outside of Hawkshead."
The cottage was well equipped with everything you could possibly need, and a cosy feel to the place. It was only a short walk into Hawkshead from the cottage and there was plenty of nice walking or cycling from the doorstep, I would highly recommend and would visit again.

"We loved Syke Cottage in Hawkshead and the area."
The cottage was comfortable and clean with everything you need when you are away from home. There was plenty of hot water, comfortable beds with nice bedding and a well equipped kitchen. We have stayed in many rental holiday homes in the Lake District and this was one of the best! Thank you.
-
"We had a fantastic stay at this cottage."
Beautifully furnished and decorated, a real home from home. Everything we needed was there and more. Comfortable, homely, warm and with all the mod cons! All items were great quality ... Laura Ashley, The White Company, Next etc etc. The log burner was a great feature and used each day! We felt trusted, as the owner had left lots of quality items for our use, which was such a refreshing change nowadays. Our only slight niggle was there was only one shower, which was downstairs. There were 5 of us staying, so to have had another shower usable in the upstairs bathroom would have been ideal. But like I say, only a very minor thing! All in all, we wished we lived there, didn't want to leave and would definately return and recommend! Thank you for a lovely stay.

"We loved our stay at Sykes Cottage."
It had a great ambiance and just wanted to be loved and appreciated and to make everyone happy. Some houses just do that. The owners provided everything and had not hidden away their nice bits and pieces so it made us feel trustedand we took the greatest care we could. The soft furnishing was all Laura Ashley (gorgeous) and there was an Aga. Oh happy days! I loved it. I used to have one and now realise how much I miss it. We were so happy, we could have stayed another week.

"Our stay in Syke Cottage was the nicest stay we’ve ever had in the Lake District after holidaying here for the past 10 years."
The whole family was so comfortable and happy during our stay, we have already booked for next year. Car parking for 2 cars was perfectly situated next to the property, especially when unpacking and packing the car in the Lake District weather. Everything we could have possibly needed was there and more. Even things like cleaning products were supplied for us to use. The private garden to the rear was neat and tidy. A lovely area to eat on a warm summers evening. If we had one minor criticism of the property, it would be in regards to the layout of the bedrooms. As we have 2 children, we would have preferred to have the 2 singles bedroom next to one of the double rooms so we could hear them. The compliment welcome gifts were a present surprise and greatly appreciated thank you. Already looking forward to next year.

"Our family has stayed in Syke Cottage 3 times now since 2017."
It is a beautiful cottage that is welcoming, very well appointed and extremely comfortable. A couple of of minutes walk and you are in the centre of Hawkshead, with some lovely independent shops to visit and pubs to eat & drink at. You are also well placed to visit some beautiful towns in the The Lake District and also for access to some great hill walking. What’s not to love?!!
-
"We loved staying in your beautiful cottage and would return again with no hesitation."
Just a couple of minor points from us. It would have been helpful to have had a bit more information about the property in the folder for guests, e.g., we couldn’t find instructions for putting the heating on, or what to do with bed linen and towels at the end of our stay.

"Property was even nicer 'in the flesh'."
Location was spot on with short walk to village and it's amenities. Local walks (Tarn How's and Letterbarrows) was just ideal the latter extended to take in Hill Top. Cottage was just so comfy and characterful. Just wish it was ours!!

"Very nice cottage with high quality facilities throughout."
It was very comfortable and very clean. Our only comments would be that the double beds were small , and that the upstairs bathroom could do with a fixed shower. But we had a really very nice stay and enjoyed the cottage in every way Thankyou Ian

"Syke cottage is an idyllic retreat on the very edge of Hawkshead in Cumbria."
This 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom accommodation is exquisitely decorated, maintaining is olde world charm you holding every conceivable creature comfort you could need. This cottage oozes charm, warmth and a true family atmosphere. The welcome pack was an unexpected bonus, and a warming drop of sherry made our arrival complete. This has truly been one of our most memorable staycation experiences yet. Full marks to Jo the owner, who we met, just as we were leaving. Thank you so, so much and we are already looking forward to returning next year xxx

"Another wonderful stay at Syke Cottage, Hawkshead, however I have marked the likeliness to recommend at 6."
The justification for this is in previous years when dealing directly with Heart of the lakes, the interactions were a pleasure with direct human contact with a company representative and an immediate resolution or an undertaking to revert in quick time. Since joining the Syke Cottages group this direct contact has been completely lost with the need to use the online booking system, chat bots and the inability for direct interaction. I appreciate much interaction can be done online, however I consider this a retrograde step in not having an option for direct human interaction. I do not find the wholly automated process a pleasurable experience. Something shared and commented on by the Heart of the Lakes staff at the Ambleside office.

"We loved staying in this very cosy cottage."
It had everything we needed and more, except a peeler! All the rooms were very comfortable and the fire an added bonus after a wet day of walking. Hawkshead is a beautiful little village and we enjoyed visiting the pubs and shops. We will definitely return!

As this is our third time at Syke cottage, it may indicate that we are very happy with the level of equipment and the general layout, and aminities

"This is a beautiful cottage with loads of character."
There are some lovely old pieces of furniture to add to the charm. It has plenty of room for 3 adults and 2 kids, didn't ever feel crowded. The kithen is recently refurbished and comes equipped with an excellent range of pots, pans, cutlery, cooking irons, baking trays etc. There is an aga. The sitting room is very comfortable and we used the woodburner most evenings for added toastiness. Parking is a little tight especially for large cars, but there are two spaces next to the cottage going off the sign on the wall.
-
"Clean, comfortable cottage in a great location and we’d definitely book again."
Could do with new mattresses but otherwise perfect.
-
"The cottage was lovely and came with every possible convenience and luxury and a few nice surprises."
Aga cooking is also great to try if you haven't already, but there's conventional hob if you don't fancy it. The only thing to look out for is the head room, three out of the four in our party had no problem at all, but anyone much over around 1.8m tall will need to duck quite frequently!

"We had a lovely stay at Syke Cottage."
This must be one of the best appointed cottages we have stayed in with H.O.T.L.
-
"Superb holiday at Syke cottage all as advertised"
-
"Beautiful cottage in a great location for walking/exploring."
Very well equipped and extremely comfortable to return to after a long day in the hills. Would definitely recommend Syke cottage.
-
"A beautiful cottage, very comfortable and well equipped."
We had a very enjoyable stay and will hopefully be back in the future.

"We had a lovely stay at Syke cottage."
The cottage is stunning. We have only 3 things to mention. The bath towels are not bath sheets and therefore are not very big. The cottage would benefit from a King Size bed, most people these days have a king size. We found the double too small so slept in separate beds. And finally the 9am checkout is too early. We stay in a lot of cottages and even since covid all checkouts are either 10am or 11am. We would recommend the cottage as it is furnished to a high standard and is in a great location. Thank you for the welcome items of wine, chocolates and biscuits. Very much appreciated.

"We have had holidays in lots of cottages in the lakes and some have been very well equipped but Syke Cottage is well in front."
It's cosy, clean and comfortable. We could not fault it at all. We will certainly book it again.
-
"Excellent, fully equipped cottage."
Vehicle access was a little tight however that would not put us off staying here again or recommending it to others.
-
"A wonderful little cottage, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
Would unequivocally recommend to others. Two minor points, we could not find a potato peeler in the kitchen and the locks on the bathroom doors did not line up/ work correctly.
-
"The cottage , location and setting was wonderful."
If there was one small gripe it would be that the mattresses in all the bedrooms were extremely soft
-
"We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage."
Very handy for walking into Hawkshead. The cottage is amply equipped and we really appreciated the treats awaiting our arrival! We had two criticisms which you may like to consider: 1. The mattresses in all the rooms may need replacing as they are quite uncomfortable. 2. The radiators in several rooms are not working.
