. Hot tub was great however the lift arm needs some repair. I'll definitely recommend to friends and family.

Thanks for your comments but I can assure you the hot tub lifter was working perfectly before your arrival and is now being repaired, the problem was addressed as soon as we were made aware. However this problem could only occur if opened incorrectly. Property Owner

  • "They had a recent leak in the bedroom, so there was a damp smell."

The long drive up a single lane with large pot holes was not enjoyable.

Apologies for the leak it had only happened in the week and it had been very wet and windy here, we think it is wind directional related through a outside door. We dealt with the problem has soon as change over permitted, unfortunately there seemed to be a residual smell Mr Adams picked up on. The road is as advertised (2 miles) and is a public highway so we can not do anything about the pot holes, but I have to say they were fixed in November 2023. The stormy weather conditions over the last few months has not helped any situation. Property Owner

  • "Lorraine & Neil have created a wonderful holiday home at Yew Tree Cottage, finished to the highest of standards."

A surprisingly spacious living area with high vaulted ceilings and exposed beams throughout, with a fantastic walk-in shower in a modern bathroom. A lovely 2 tiered patio and to top it off a secluded hot tub with stunning views of the Coniston fells. Even the bedroom had lovely four poster bed and plenty of room, for a 2 person cottage it certainly packs a punch! Some beautiful walks from our doorstep and the local pub is only 2.09 miles away, GPS tracked!! Coniston was a 15 minute drive, where again, plenty of walks to tackle and Ambleside is half an hour. A peaceful location and having the owners on site, if there are any issues, just pop to see them and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended.

  • "Like most other people who have reviewed this property there is a lot to be positive about."

The kitchen was my favourite part of the house. It’s very well equipped and the whole place is pretty spotless. The bedroom though. Oh dear. It may be a Hypnos mattress as previously stated, but that is one of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. I struggle to sleep so for me being in a strange bed is always a bit of a concern. However I got used to it and could have lived with it had it not been for the massive exposed skylight in the roof that looms over your head. So daylight shines bright from around 4.30. This is unacceptable really it is.

Thank you for the feedback about your stay with us at Yew Tree Cottage. It's great to hear that there is a lot to be positive about, including the cleaning and how well equipped the property is. In regards to the bedroom, the Hypnos mattress has been great for the vast majority of people that have stayed here and I'm sorry to hear it wasn't to your liking but can understand that everyone has their own preferences. In relation to the skylight in the bedroom. If it had been reported as an issue, we are always here to help. If this was mentioned during your stay, we would have been able to provide you with a cover for this. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was in a lovely place but the pub was nearly 3 miles away not 2 ,and the chairs were different from the pictures they looked designer but were not comfortable, the bed was soft and lumpy and so uncomfortable that we came home a day early, the cottage was also very dark and the WiFi only worked in the bedroom, also the road to the cottage was overgrown and brushed against our vehicle."

The distance to the pub is not the end of the world but the cottage needs to be much more comfortable and needs more light.

Many thanks for your feedback and we were pleased that you enjoyed the beautiful location of Yew Tree cottage but sorry to here you found things not to your satisfaction. I can confirm the pub is 2 miles away as per Google maps but may have appeared longer to yourselves. We were surprised to hear that you found the chairs and bed uncomfortable as nobody has mentioned this before, the mattress is a Hypnos and most people find it very comfortable as for the chairs and sofa we did replace them but with Ekornes Stressless which is specifically designed around comfort. As for the Wi-Fi we do not advertise this due to the location of the cottage. Most county lanes in the Lake District will have verge encroachment at that time of year and it is a public highway. As for the issue of light, it is a period property in the Lake District National Park. Property Owner

It was everything we hoped it would be. The hot tub and beautiful surroundings were the highlight of the trip as well as all the little luxuries within the cottage which made it especially comfortable. You're far enough off the beaten track to relax and forget the world but close enough for a trip to Coniston, even if only to have a wander, call for a drink and grab some essentials to restock the fridge! There are quite literally walks from the door and everything you could possibly need within the cottage. We really didn't want to leave and will definitely return. Thanks so much for a lovely stay.

The photos do not do the property justice & we would recommend it to anyone. If it’s privacy & peace you are seeking in a beautiful location with plenty to do within a 15mike radius this place would suit you. The kitchen was properly kitted out which meant self catering was a real option, the hot tub worked at the right temperature & the view from the hot tub was phenomenal. We took our bikes & cycled miles round Coniston & Windermere, we swam in the sea at Bootle, travelled on a steam train from Ravenglass & walked up hill & down dale in the surrounding area. Wilson’s pub 2 miles away is friendly with real ale & a fab chef. We’ve been twice now & will be returning.

You need to go shopping on your way because there was nothing there when we got there, so if you’re coming a long way, it might be an idea to have some essentials (tea, milk, bread etc.) just so you don’t have to go straight back out again after a long journey, which we did and we were exhausted!

It was beautiful! Spotlessly clean, perfect location, beautiful surroundings. The cottage was so homely, the bed super comfy, gorgeous bathroom and kitchen. Loved the hot tub! Our cocker spaniel was in her element with 100 acres of farmland to run around in. The Griffins, along with Amber the dog were super helpful and lovely. The location was perfect and under 20 minutes drive to most places. I am really fussy about the cleanliness of places and almost always have to clean everything before we use anything when we arrive in holiday rentals.
