  • "We had a fantastic stay at Garden Cottage."

The house was stunning and had everything we needed. The garden was completely enclosed so was perfect for our dog. Bron was an amazing host and was very quick to answer any questions. We loved the village and the local pub. We will be back when the weather gets warmer so we can make the most of the beautiful garden.

Thank you, for your lovely review, so glad you enjoyed your stay, see you when it's warmer x Property Owner

  • "A truly first class cottage, comfortable, spacious and well equipped."

Spotlessly clean on arrival and a very generous welcome pack. No clever photography to make the property look bigger, what you see is what you get, a true family sized home. Nice pub a five minute walk away and driveway parking outside the front door. Easily the best cottage we have stayed in and one we will definitely return to. Great communication from the owner, do not hesitate if you are considering a booking. Just do it and you will not be dissapointed.

Thank you both, for your lovely review, so glad you enjoyed your stay, Bron Property Owner

  • "Our first impression as we walked through the door was Wow."

Spotless, airy rooms, comfy beds, secure garden. Village friendly, short drive to Penrith. We visited Pooley Bridge, Chestnut House store is a must, 400 Gins, plus so much more and dog friendly. Great walks in the area, Ullswater lake walk, Old rail track from Keswick to Threlkeld with two pubs to choose from in Threlkeld. Horse & Farrier fab warm welcome, fantastic food and mega dog friendly. Wi-Fi was good but no phone signal at cottage. Only negative & it’s a preference rather than a real complaint, would have loved some large mugs for tea. I’m accused at home of preferring a pint pot lol. Thank you Bron for sharing your lovely cottage, and fantastic welcome basket.

Thank you for choosing garden cottage. I'm so glad you enjoyed your holiday. I will definitely get bigger tea mugs Property Owner

  • "Garden cottage was by far one of the best holiday homes we have ever stayed at."

It was absolutely spotlessly clean. The house was really lovely and cosy and everything we needed was provided. The beds were so comfortable and having 3 bathrooms with showers was brilliant. The garden was so peaceful and just bliss to sit in. It was wonderful that the garden was enclosed and safe for our children and dog. The communication with the host was excellent and the welcome pack on arrival was very welcome, particularly by our dog, who loved his treats. The village was beautiful and my two girls enjoyed playing in the park. We also had a lovely dinner in the pub. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone. It was the perfect cottage for a lovely relaxing holiday.

Thank you so much for the lovely comments, so glad you enjoyed your stay. Bron Property Owner

  • "The owner made us feel very welcome!"

Made sure we knew the key code and turned on the heating for us and set the fire as it was a cold wet day ( in the middle of summer!) The cottage was spotless and very comfortable! A home from home! We appreciated the treats, and so did our dog! Lovely secluded and enclosed garden too! We loved the village of Great Salkeld. Nice quiet place to walk the dog!

  • "Garden Cottage was more like a home than a holiday let."

I chose it mostly because of wanting a garden for the dog. The photos of the garden did not do it justice, it was a beautiful and safe enclosed space. The house itself was spacious and really well furnished to a luxury standard. I've never slept on such a comfortable pillow. Everything provided, from dishwasher tablets to welcome pack. The host was easily contactable for any queries. I would highly recommend this cottage.

  • "Garden Cottage is an extremely pleasant place to stay."

Clean, comfortable with all the amenities one would wish for and a very pleasant, helpful owner. The only negative was that it was chilly when we arrived because the underfloor heating had not warmed up sufficiently, but that improved over the weekend. And we could have lit the ready-prepared log fire had we been too cold (and we had particularly cold weather for May). A folder with local information, like nearest hospital, doctor, supermarkets, etc, would have been helpful. We were surprised that one was not available because they are usually provided in holiday cottages. But that did not detract from our stay. We will definitely be back because overall, this is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed at.

It was very clean, high-quality bedding and towels, super comfortable beds. Definitely a home from home. Highly recommended.
