The cottage is very tastefully decorated throughout and had everything we could possibly need for our week. The local area is beautiful. All the facilities you need are in the cottage - dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, iron and board, soap in bathroom plus shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, soap in the downstairs toilet and in the kitchen as well. Also a hairdryer in the bedroom. Welcome tray and bottle of wine in the fridge was also a lovely touch. Games, book and jigsaws. Definitely recommend. Only had drinks at the Engine Inn but had food at the Hope and Anchor in Flookburgh which was good (large portions) and also at the Pheasant Inn in Allithwaite which was lovely with good views in the adult dining area (highly recommend)

  • "Jenny's Cottage is Absolutely Fabulous, and is indeed, a home from home."

The Cottage is so comfortable and tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard. The beds can be described in comparison to the TV ad, where they say 'a good nights sleep is Guaranteed'. Sooo Comfortable. We were treated to a welcome pack including tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge, so very thoughtful. The location is great for exploring the south part of the Lake District with Cartmel only a short drive away, and easy reach for a trip to Bowness on Windermere, Kendal and Ulverston. Grange over Sands is even closer with lovely views over to Morecombe Bay. Unfortunately the weather was not great with only one really nice day but what a treat it was sitting out on the patio in the late afternoon sunshine where I dozed off listening to the beautiful song of the Blackbird, and the gentle coo of the Wood Pigeon, the chattering of the Finches and then awaking to the gentle ra-ta-ta-tap of the Woodpecker in the distance. The friendly local store is two minutes walk away and is very well stocked and the Engine Inn is well worth a visit. Jenny's Cottage has got everything you could ask for, a great location and well worth a look.

I initially thought the place must be new to the holiday market with maybe a couple of reviews but it isn’t. And you know what? Every 5* review is thoroughly deserved. The property and everything in it is just perfect. The owners are quite rightly particular about cleanliness. The beds and furniture are all very comfortable. The heating was set to come on three times a day and even in mid-November the house was comfortably warm. I thoroughly enjoyed my week here with my daughter and did some exploring of the southern Lakes, much of which is within easy reach from Cark where, close to the house, you’ll find a convenience shop, a pub and a restaurant. I have no hesitation at all in also rewarding with a full 5* rating.

My only one little negative, which I didn't bring up with the owner as didn't effect us but may do if you are a family of 4, is that the hot water was a little sparse, the heating though was perfect.
