"We had a fabulous time in this beautiful cottage, a real family home which was so cosy and had all the facilities you would need."
The gardens were lovely and well maintained with a hot tub which was so relaxing and had beautiful views to look at whilst you relaxed. We had fun evenings on the wii, and a great choice of film on sky. Fuel for the wood burner was plentiful. We lived the cottage so much we booked again for March 2025 whilst we were there. Thanks to Dawn for the lovely welcome and hamper.

"Lovely place in a great location and great communication."
Would Def stay again.

"This is a lovely house with a superb garden."
We were a party of 7 , 4 adults and 3 boys ( ages 11,12 and 13) plus a small dog. The property was ideal , very well equipped, easy parking for 3 cars. The boys loved the very large enclosed garden with a stream and hot tub, plenty of room to run and play with the dog ( who also enjoyed it ) . Woody's cafe and gift shop 5mins walk away and nice local walks close by without taking the car. Irton Pike just up the road is worth the uphill walk for the views. The Bower House pub serves good food and has a small kids football pitch at the back. We made one trip to Whitehaven for supermarket shopping and Cumberland sausage from the butchers. Our other great outings were Hardknott Pass ( fabulous scenery) , the Lal' Ratty steam train to Ravenglass ( well worth the money ) and the boys loved Muncaster Castle with archery and the birds of prey. Fell Foot and it's garden made the holiday perfect .Despite it being Storm Lillian week the daytime weather was fine enough to enjoy everything. If you return to Dalegarth on the train we would highly recommend The Boot pub in Boot about a quarter of a mile from Dalegarth Station. The roads are narrow , be prepared to give way or reverse occasionally. Many thanks to Dawn the Housekeeper who was very helpful when going out on separate trips we accidentally locked ourselves out. The boys and adults were so happy with the week we wished it had been longer.

"Amazing stay, lovely cottage, peaceful, tranquil, just what we wanted."
The house was clean, comfortable and well equipped, the little one loved playing with. Amazing hot tub views. Great contact from Kate and Dawn.
-
"The property and gardens were amazing the views spectacular."
If I were to recommend anything at all it would be more comfortable mattress in the king sized room and proper 3 foot 6 single beds in the other rooms. It's not always small children who require a single bed. This said it would truly take some beating. Provided the best r+r withing easy reach of bars, plenty of walking both gentle and more challenging. Would deffinatly book again.

"What a find."
The most beautiful of locations, the most beautiful cottage and excellent facilities. A small stream running through the garden, bridges, a covered gorgeous Hot Tub with breathtaking views and the cottage couldn’t feel more ‘Lake District’. Dawn was VERY helpful and the cleanliness, instructions and welcome gifts were lovely. Thank you for a very wonderful holiday, we shall be back.
-
"I stayed here with friends for a walking holiday and we absolutely loved the place."
The owners had left us a lovely welcome package and the cottage had everything that we needed. Can't imagine a better way to finish a day of strenuous walking than sitting in a hot tub and looking out at the snow-capped fells!
-
"Very comfy and delightfully situated cottage"
-
"A lovely Cumbrian stone cottage, which has been sympathetically extended."
The cottage has all the facilities we could have wished for, including a hot tub at the top of the garden. In summary a lovely quiet location. Santon Bridge is a small village however there is a good pub, and several good tea shops/ cafes. Eskdale Green and Wasdale are very close, lovely unspoilt villages, with more places to eat and drink, and the idyllic Wastwater lake.
-
"Fantastic garden, views and facilities, wii for the kids when needed, range of books games, fully furnished property, great sized laundry/boot room for dogs, hanging outerwear, storing boots etc."
Bedrooms were comfortable and really clean as were the bathrooms, with an abundance of towels I think it’s fair to say the decor is a little dated, but our interaction with the owners and the prep for our stay along with the overall comfort levels more than made up for this. Most of the days are spent outside and it was a great place to return to after rafting, walking etc and is perfectly positioned for the great pub, just down the road. Fully recommend staying here, for the space in the house, views, facilities provided by owner, the great garden and overall comfort
-
"What a fabulously large cottage in a great location that easily accommodated 6 adults and 2 dogs."
Gorgeous garden and the hot tub was a delight after a day's hiking.
-
"Excellent house: very well situated and equipped."
Owners and housekeeper are lovely and always on hand to help. Would stay again
-
"Amazing spacious accomodation."
.everything we needed.
-
"A comfortable family property with fantastic views and a great well kept garden with beautiful flowers , squirrels and birds galore with sheep in the surrounding fields ."
The cottage has everything you need , spacious rooms , books and games available and a tinkle on the piano too . Welcome pack was great with bones for our dogs too. Fab location , walks from the cottage , Ravenglass railway 10 minutes away , and less than a 40 minute drive will take you to Wastwater , Whitehaven and St Bees. An hour away is Coniston water , a drive over the hills , and through windy roads, Ice cream and gingerbread in Hawkshead not to be missed . Overall a fantastic holiday , we would definitely love to visit Fell Foot again .
-
"The cottage excesses are expectations."
It was clean and well equipped. The gardens were stunning. The location was truly tranquil. The most enjoyable week with family. The dogs enjoyed the peaceful surrounds. Would definitely go back.
-
"Such a beautiful cottage in a beautiful area, there was 8 of us staying all together and there was plenty of room for us and it made such a nice weekend, we are already looking at rebooking to come back!"
-
"Fantastic property with character, as described and really well-equipped."
Loads of board games plus waterproof OS 1:25k maps to borrow. Fell view from hot tub with a (plastic) glass of something fizzy was a treat! Local pub 1 min walk, 1.5 mile walk through local wood past tarn and round to halt station on the steam railway; 1.75 miles to pub at Eskdale Green and fab hike over Irton Fell with Wasdale views to brill pub at Nether Wasdale (The Strands). Easy and fun local drives, overall quiet area of the Lakes. Great having Fell Foot to come back to at night. Highly recommended.
-
"This was a very well equipped residence and the garden was fabulous for our two terriers."
we would definitely stay again.
-
"What an amazing property, so well equipped."
From bread and butter, to waterproof maps. And of course tea and cake! Amazing. Dawn, the housekeeper, was so helpful and on hand at any moment. Beautiful views from the hot tub and garden, there is a cattle grid at the front of the property, which, somehow, our dog managed to get across, but only once, we think he didn’t like the experience first time. We loved to play the games which were on the bookshelf, with all the pieces still in their boxes! Oven gloves and tea towels, plastic rubbish bags and kitchen roll were all available for us, in the kitchen.
-
"Lovely property, great location, and quick communication from housekeeper."
Had everything we needed for a wonderful stay in the Lake District.
-
"It was a beautiful location."
On arriving in the cottage, the extra touches that were there was lovely, being welcomed with a lovely ‘Welcome card and pack’ with even extra for your 4 legged friends. Arriving in December, expecting it to be cold, the cottage was warm and comfortable. Highly recommend to stay here.
-
"An absolutely fantastic property."
We loved our stay - a cosy, homely property in a fantastic location. We can’t wait to return!
-
"The property was of a very high standard and well equipped."
We had a great stay and loved the hot tub. It was perfect after a day of walking. Everything from booking to picking up keys was perfect, Kate even contacted us to say it was ready early if we needed to arrive sooner. This was very thoughtful and well received as we were in the area early! I can see us booking again in future. Thank you
-
"Very comfortable and well equipped property."
Brilliant location with lots to do and see. We really enjoyed the hot tub after a days walking looking out onto the fells. Owner very friendly and helpful. Overall a very relaxing holiday.
-
"Was a very well equipped comfortable property."
The hot tub and garden were amazing, as was the views. The communication from the owner and housekeeper was brilliant, would definitely go again.
-
"Great cottage in a very peaceful setting."
Loots of space for us and our 2 dogs. The garden certainly kept them busy. The hot tub was excellent and well maintained. A short walk to a great pub/diner meant no cooking nightly, a big hit for us too.
-
"Our holiday was perfect, from the accommodation right up to the areas to visit whilst there."
Photos just doesn't give the house justice. Very clean, very roomy, very well equipped, we all absolutely loved it, especially at night when my 18 year old son would play the X Box (as he's not keen on hot tubs). Really nice views from the huge, lovely quirky garden and when relaxing in the hot tub which was used more or less every day. Would love to visit again especially as a gate will be fitted to the entrance of the drive way. I would highly recommend.
-
"Great location!"
fabulous garden and hot tub with great views. Fell Foot is a real hidden gem and is without doubt the one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed in. The only minor down side was the bed in bedroom 2 was very uncomfortable, apart from that we had a fantastic holiday, and would hope to stay there again sometime in the future.
-
"Lovely house and garden, hot tub serviced every two days, plenty of room , facilities and equipment for the 6 adults and two children in our party."
-
"Fabulous holiday home, spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped with everything we could possibly need."
Accommodated 8 adults and 2 dogs easily. Hot tub was gorgeous with amazing views to the mountains and lovely gardens. Plenty of off road parking and a short walk to the local pub which serves good food. Cafe round the corner for basic supplies and a small gift shop. Highly recommended!
-

"Best property we have stayed in in many visits to the Lakes."
A really comfortable home from home with a fabulous garden (ideal for older children but not toddlers), beautifully presented and with everything we needed. Very dog friendly. Nice quiet location with beautiful walks nearby.
-
"The location of the cottage was perfect, so tranquil."
Unfortunately the alpaca farm which was next door has closed so the write up needs updating. The cottage had everything we needed for a multi generational family to stay. It was a warm and welcoming house. The only slight negative were the very small single beds which were pretty uncomfortable. The garden was fantastic and we used both the upper and lower terraces and the family made good use of the hot tub. We would definitely visit again.
-
"Perfect for a group or family We (4 couples) had a fabulous weekend in this lovely cottage."
We were extremely lucky with the weather(!) and so got to enjoy the garden as well as the interior. Clean with plenty of space, the cottage is in a quiet location with great views, but also very convenient for the pub. Perfect.
-

-
"We are aware that there are on going improvements to the property but overall were all very impressed with the cottage, its garden and the surrounding landscape, also the welcome pack was gratefully received."
Just a few minor points, maybe some more soft furnishings for the dinning room ie.curtains/ blinds some bins in the bedrooms and better lighting for the kitchen. We would like to say that the owners made us feel very welcome and at home, we would not hesitate to book again in the future. Thank you all, we had a wonderful time.

About the location
ESKDALE GREEN
Coniston 10 miles.
The small village of Eskdale Green sits amongst beautiful Lakeland countryside and consists of a scattering of cottages, some farm dwellings and a number of outstanding traditional English pubs serving good food. An area relatively unknown to many Lakeland visitors, this great location boasts a skyline dominated by the towering peaks of Scafell - England's highest peak, as well as Great Gable, Hard Knott, Harter Fell and Muncaster Fell, whilst the nearby stunning valleys of Eskdale, Wasdale, Ennerdale and Dunnerdale provide breathtaking and ever-changing scenery to be enjoyed throughout the year. The valley is notable as being one of few major valleys in the Lake District not to have its own lake, although several tarns are perched above the valley sides. Local attractions include Muncaster Castle, the World Owl Centre and the Ravenglass to Eskdale miniature railway, one of the most beautiful train journeys imaginable. With both beautiful Wastwater - the deepest lake in the country and St Olaf's - the smallest church, amongst the many well known landmarks in this awe inspiring and beautiful area also within easy reach, this stunning location will have visitors returning time and time again.
