"Perfect welcoming cottage."

So cosy and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. Very dog friendly. We found it easily even in the dark! Appreciated the messages from owner Kate too. We look forward to returning.

"Beautiful cottage ."

We felt very at home as soon as we went in. Our 3 Border collie s loved the garden . Will deffo be visiting again .

"A beautiful cosy cottage set in the most amazing location and surroundings."

Hawkeshead Village a short walk away and within easy reach to other Lake District areas. We can't recommend this enough, fabulous place and Kate the owner is extremely helpful. Debbie

"Our stay at larch cottage was fabulous, the host thought of everything."

It was really a home from home, beautiful decor and gorgeous surrounding very bliss. Our dogs loved visiting the lake very morning and running around the woodland surrounding the property, we couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to stay or a better host. Kate was lovely! Thanks x

"Lovely Cottage in great position, nice touch recieving text msg from Kate the property owner welcoming us to the property plus the milk in fridge and some goddies in the hamper, very quiet location, easy walk into Hawkshead for shops and places to eat, walk to Far Sawrey via Moss Eccles Tarn with meal at Cuckoo Brow also worth the effort."

"Beautiful cottage in a lovely location with a super helpful owner."

Not far to walk to Hawkshead or Near Sawrey for a beer and bite to eat. The cottage is cosy and well equipped, has a large garden and it’s own private woodland. Esthwaite Water is right on your doorstep ideal for our dog! Couldn’t have asked for more and would highly recommend. We will definitely be returning.

"We loved Larch Cottage from the second we arrived."

The setting is outstanding and the cottage was clean, comfortable and warm. Our Golden retriever just adored the woodland, and I walked him there every morning before we went out for the day. Good boots needed as the going gets rough underfoot the further you go into the woods, but totally worth it! The lake is across the road with direct access to the water. Walks everywhere you look. Recommend How Tarn circular walk. We shall return!

"We enjoyed our stay very much the facilities were like home from home all the things that you need."

The cleannesses was also just how you would expect to walk into. Comfort was also very important to us and it was very spacious. The grounds were lovely and spacious. I would definitely go back for a holiday and would recommend to friends and family. Perfect holiday.

"We had a lovely stay at Larch cottage."

The grounds of the cottage are spacious and well maintained. The dog loved playing outside with the woodland and the lake at your doorstep. The cottage itself is very well equipped and clean. We would definitely recommend larch cottage.

"We had a very relaxing week at Larch Cottage."

The cottage is homely and welcoming. Lovely views over the garden to Esthwaite Water. We enjoyed lots of walks around the area but would recommend walking to Moss Eccles Tarn We look forward to returning next year.

"We had a fantastic stay at the Larch cottage."

The cottage is in a beautiful and well positioned location within easy reach of the village Hawkshead. The cottage was perfect, cosy and very well equipped with everything you could need. During our stay we visited the Go Ape at Grizedale, which was a great family day out. We look forward to returning for a longer stay and exploring the area further.

Where you’ll be staying

HAWKSHEAD

Ambleside 5.1 miles; Kendal 17.4 miles.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year. A short distance beyond Hawkshead and towards the Windermere Ferry is the village of Near Sawrey, and “Hill Top” (now owned and run by the National Trust), home of Beatrix Potter which features many of the illustrations in her books. Newby Bridge and Lakeside are a short distance to the south and offer attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes, Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside plus the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and Haverthwaite Motor Museum. Lake windermere offers ample watersports facilities, boat tours, and there are a great many walks throughout the Lake District National Park, including those at Scafell Pike and The Old Man of Coniston, and there are many opportunities for birdwatching, mountain biking, and wild swimming.
