  • "Lovely cottage in a perfect location."

The host was great the house is exceptionally clean.Only one thing let's it down the single bed is very uncomfortable the springs in the mattress stick up.

Hi Julie, Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your stay in our lovely cottage. We do take on board all negatives aswell as positives so thank you for the feedback about the single bed. This being said, we have ordered a new mattress which will be delivered early this week. We hope you choose Wainwright Cottage as one of your future Lakes District Breaks once again. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful few days in Wainwright Cottage."

It was the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area including climbing Scafell Pike. The cottage is cosy and clean and well maintained, only downside is that the single bed is very creaky and soft and I think would be more suited to a child than an adult. Also my son didn't really feel comfortable with leaving his car out on the road infront of the property as it is actually quite a busy road heading out to Wasdale head. However this was easily rectified by loading/offloading out front and then parking free of charge in the community car park in the village which was just a short walk away. Gosforth village is a lovely, quiet village with good local amenities and we did sample food delivered from the lion and the lamb pub which was very nice. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Wainwright cottage and would highly recommend.

Thank you for your feedback Penelope - we appreciate the comment about the single bed and therefore, have replaced it with a new one (from today) so thank you for highlighting this. We understand the road outside the cottage is potentially busier during the peak season and I'm glad you found an alternative parking however, directly outside the property is totally fine to park as all locals do the same along that stretch of road. We are happy you enjoyed your stay at the property and indeed Gosforth is a lovely place to stay with everything you need local to the property, not to mention the spectacular views and walks right on your doorstep. • "The best cottage we have ever stayed at in the Lake District and we've stayed in many over the last 30 years or so."

The cottage was immaculately clean, witrh all the main appliances easy to use i.e. central heating system, cooker and shower. The cottage is of a very high specification throughout and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the cottage to other visitors to the Lake Didtrict. We would definately book again when visiting the Western Lakes.

Thank you for your kind feedback, it really does make a difference. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our lovely cottage and look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to the Western Lakes. Property Owner

  • "Have absolutely no criticism about the property, it is well finished and maintained, it is perfectly located for an ascent up Scafel pike, local shops offer enough for a short stay, we only stayed for a weekend and are already considering a return for a full weeks holiday, if any thing I would say that the property is understated on the website and the reality of it far exceeds expectations."

Thank you for your review and kind feedback. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future should you choose Wainwright Cottage. Property Owner

  • "Lovely, clean , comfortable cottage with good facilities and an enclosed garden - very useful with children."

There were one or two games as well for them to play with. There were sightseeing places to go very near to the village where we were staying. Muncaster Castle with an Owlerie and birds of prey, beautiful grounds etc. Also there was a Ravenglass steam railway and museum , and of course the pretty and quiet Seascale Beach which was ideal . Altogether a good little holiday with plenty to do and we would definitely recommend the cottage.
