  • "Second stay here."

Recommend the views over the dales from the elevated position. House very comfortable though some cleaning could be improved. Also, a little mean with the necessities, no washing up liquid and limited toilet rolls! I nit pick but just takes off the shine. Would stay again.

.. we took our rubbish home ....the log fire (we didn't use ) had embers in the grate and ash in the tray ... I cleaned that out... as it was a bit smelly when the wind was blowing ... the fridge... freezer compartment was iced up, and something was frozen in there so we couldn't put anything in .... I cleaned the lounge window inside and out as the sun shone thro there and it was driving me mad .....we have a lovely break in a special cottage and loved the weather we had which was a real bonus ...and

  • "On the whole the property was okay but there were a few issues that let it down."

The kitchen could have been better stocked. There wasn’t that much cutlery and there were no spoons/ spatulas for stirring/ frying. Unfortunately the oven has been left with a dirty baking tray inside. The ice box in the fridge needed defrosting and therefore couldn’t be used. There are only three dishwasher tablets provided so I would suggest bringing/buying your own as I can see that this has been commented on before and no changes have been made. The windows in most of the rooms could have done with a clean. No issues with living rooms or bedrooms - has clearly been vacuumed and clean bedding and towels available. The main issue for me was the faint smell of sewage from the toilet. It was a saniflo toilet and upon looking this up they are designed to be flushed daily. I used the property after it had been vacant for a week. The smell may therefore may not be an issue generally. Worth noting that there is no door to the kitchen so smell of cooking and noises from the dishwasher and washing machine will spread to the living area. The owners manual stated that this was the first year that the property had been let and I would suggest that once the cleaning/ maintenance issues are ironed out and if the owners take a slightly less frugal approach to providing consumables then it will be a cottage worth staying at.

  • "Lovely cottage, lovely position in this very beautiful little village."

On a rather dull and rainy day one feels very cosy and at home. Minor caveat: The beds fell a little short for tall people.

  • "A lovely quiet location and very clean and tidy."

Beautiful surroundings, countryside is glorious and a very interesting town historically. The second bedroom is not ideal for an adult though (bed too small) and the plumbing was noisy. Overall though a very comfortable stay.

Dear Mr Kelly, thank you for your feedback and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay in Settle. The small bed is described as such in the cottage description and we are sorry that it did not meet your particular needs. Property Owner

  • "Cannot fault the cottage itself."

There is a fantastic view from the bedroom window. Everything was neat and tidy. Bed was very comfortable. Location very central. Decent back patio too that we didn’t end up using. My gripe is with the welcome pack ( or lack of it). There was no sign of the logs and firelight starter pack advertised on the website. We were left half a roll of toilet paper, if there was a backup supply I could not find it. It’s usual to have a decent supply for a week. Only three of dishwasher and washing machine tablets, are we expected to buy 30+ after that!? Not what I’d expect. Just seems a little mean and took the shine off what is otherwise a very good let, I would return.

Dear Mr Downey, thank you very much for your feedback and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. Please accept our apologies for the situation regarding logs/firelighters which should have been present in the basket provided and also with regard to toilet rolls of which there should have been adequate supply for a weeks stay and have raised your comments with our maintenance provider. Thanks once again for your valued feedback. Property Owner

  • "Cragg Cottage was is a fantastic location within easy reach of many beautiful walks."

It was well equipped, but disappointing to find no logs or fire lighters for the log burner. It was still chilly of an evening and there is usually a basket of logs in most properties to give you a start on the first evening. Property would benefit from a bluetooth speaker to stream music and radio. Otherwise a really enjoyable stay in this little gem.

Thank you for your feedback and so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by lack of logs and firelighters. We have fed this back to the housekeeper/ cleaner who should stock this up at each changeover, so we can make sure it doesn't happen in the future. Property Owner

  • "Beautifully appointed."

Everything we needed was there. Great position in town with fantastic views across Settle. Shower was great and bed very comfortable. Due to weather never got the chance to use the outside space which looked very nice. We used town carpark (3 minute walk) for the week with a £15 weekly ticket which we thought was good value and less stressful than parking near the cottage. Loved the rotating big chair! WiFi worked really well. Good self shops and excellent restaurants/pubs within 5 minute walk of cottage. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks so much for your lovely feedback, and we are delighted you enjoyed all Settle had to offer. Thanks for staying at Crag Cottage and we hope to see you again. Property Owner
