  • "Overall very happy with the place."

Spotlessly clean, comfy and everything in working order. It would have worked much better for us (4 adults) if one of the big bedrooms was a twin. The tiny room is very cramped for two adults. Also some thin duvets please - 10tog in summer is a bit much!

We had a lovely stay at Ribble cottage, location was great, the bedrooms need some storage space, wardrobe or drawers, only 3 hangers per room and there was only 2 bath towels and 1 hand towel between 4 people, need a few more, otherwise a good time was had by all

Hi Christina. Thanks for your feedback. We’re glad you had a lovely stay and loved the location! It really is a lovely countryside bolt hole! We pride ourselves on providing a luxury stay and invest in Egyptian cotton towels and bedding. All guests have a minimum of one small towel and one large towel per person plus extra hand towels in the bathroom. We understand re the coat hangers, and we will look to add more. We’re disappointed with your score based on the hangers and towels and wish you had contacted us with this during your stay as we would have provided you with more there and then rather than giving us a negative review. • "Lovely cottage in the heart of Settle."

Beautifully decorated with very modern refurbished fully equipped kitchen. Lovely and clean with good appliances. Loved the speakers as we try not to watch TV so really enjoyed playing music while we relaxed. Beds really comfortable and loved the attic room. Lovely little garden where we ate breakfast every morning. Good local shops pubs and takeaways can definitely recommend the Indian and The Golden Lion. Really appreciated the welcome email I received on the morning I arrived and the welcome gift we received. Lots out and about to do. Walks locally, the Settle to Carlisle railway on your doorstep and beautiful Bolton Abbey and Ingleby falls only 30-40 min drive away. Also 3 peaks if you fancy a challenge. Only slight issue lots of stairs not a problem for us but not if you have difficulty with stairs but this is mentioned in the cottage blurb so absolutely no issue for us. Also parking can be tricky as on street parking that neighbours seem to monitor but again we managed to get parked every night however there is a car park in the village at a small cost. Would definitely stay again and definitely recommend.

Thanks Kerry for the lovely feedback! So glad you enjoyed the speakers and the garden especially! The stairs certainly work off the Dales Ice Creams! You were absolutely wonderful guests we’d love to welcome back in the future. All the best A&L - Ribble Cottage Property Owner

  • "This was the perfect base for a car-free holiday."

We came by train and had wonderful trips out along the gorgeous Settle-Carlisle line. It was great being in the centre of town, so close to the shops and footpaths in all directions. The cottage was absolutely lovely. One of the best we have ever stayed in.

Thank you so much for your feedback! We are so pleased you enjoyed exploring the Yorkshire dales. You were fantastic guests and we’d love to see you come back again soon. All the best A&L - Ribble Cottage Property Owner

About the location

SETTLE

Malham 6 miles; Skipton 17 miles; Kendal 25 miles.

The bustling market town of Settle lies at the south west rim of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, nestled beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes - amongst some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire. Tuesday is market day in Settle, when the square is filled with stalls offering a wide variety of crafts and goods. The market place is surrounded by local businesses, the centre being dominated by The Shambles, an historic three storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool. The Victoria Hall has entertainment and other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham. Settle is in the midst of excellent walking country and is a good base for touring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
