  • "Spindle Coppice is a lovely cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location."

The cottage is spacious, clean, warm and well equipped with lovely bathrooms and plenty of areas to relax and enjoy the wonderful views. We enjoyed some fantastic walks straight from the door - along the Cumbria Way and over Park Fell to Tarn Hows. We also had a great walk up the Langdale Pikes. I would definitely recommend this cottage!

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, we are delighted to hear that you have had a lovely holiday at Spindle Coppice. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Kind regards. Property Owner

  • "A lovely, well equipped cottage, with a view to die for."

On a very quiet farm lane, this cottage is in a true get-away-from-it-all location, while being just a few minutes drive to shops and restaurants. Nicely furnished. Very comfortable. Plenty of room but with a nice cosy feel. The back garden is very steep, but very pretty, and it's a small price to pay for being in such beautiful countryside, and the front patio is plenty big enough with little lawn areas to keep your dog happy. With such a quiet track in front of the cottage, it did feel like the fields and mountains were our private front garden. We will be back to Spindle Coppice.

Thank you for your very kind feedback. We are so pleased that you had such an enjoyable stay, and loved the views! We hope that you would return again. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team. Property Owner

  • "House was fine but 'garden' was very steep with slippery steps."

Certainly not dog friendly - especially for poo-bagging.

Thank you for your feedback, and we are glad that the house was too your liking. We take all comments on board. Further to your comments of the garden, the listing states that 'To the rear is a hillside garden on various levels with pond and patio (children should be supervised).' • "We had a lovely stay at Spindle Coppice and would book again, however just a couple of issues and suggestions - the cupboard which contains the board games needs a clean as well as under the rug in the main living room."

It would also have been helpful to have oven gloves rather than have to use tea towels for removing food from the oven as well as some kitchen cleaning spray to clean surfaces after cooking. All in all a great cottage though.

Thank you for your review further to your stay with us at Spindle Coppice. We're glad to read you would like to book again and enjoyed your holiday with us here. Had you let us know of the minor issues you had we would have happily had a representative from our house keeping team attend and make good for you.We will really look forward to welcoming youto stay here again in the future. • "A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location."

The views from the house are absolutely stunning and the gardens to the rear are lovely. Located down a private lane, the house provided our family with the perfect location for relaxing and walking. We loved sitting on the patio with a glass of wine and it was breathtaking to watch the fog along the valley each morning. The house itself is lovely and well maintained the owners have clearly responded to previous feedback. No issues at all with cleanliness, showers or how well equipped the kitchen is. Everything has been carefully thought of and the house is spacious and comfortable. The only slight negative (and it is slight) is that we had a damp smell coming from the utility room. As it was warm, we opened the windows and it wasn’t an issue. May be more annoying if windows are always closed. We loved the house and will definitely return.

Thank you for your kind comments, we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We take your comments on board, and we will ask our Housekeeping Team to look into them. We hope to welcome you back. The Heart of the Lakes Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "The cottage was absolutely stunning and very well equipped with everything you would ever need."

The location was superb with uninterrupted breathtaking views of the mountains and beyond. It exceeded our wildest dreams and definitely had the WOW factor and something we will never forget, The cottage is down a private lane and the only thing you could hear was the birds singing. Also very safe and secure for dogs with local walks on the doorstep. We also found an amazing cafe based in a cow shed (so quirky!) just 2 minutes down the lane where you could also have a beer or even a glass of prosecco!! The BEST property we have ever stayed in and we are already looking to rebook later this year.

Hi Toni, Thank you for your lovely comment, so happy you have enjoyed your stay at Spindle Coppice, we look forward to you visiting again soon. Kind regards, Gary & Jane P.S. Definitely going to try that cow shed! Property Owner

It was a great location. The views from the front windows were breathtaking. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The only issue we had was when we got there the freezer was really in need of defrosting as it was difficult to shut the freezer door due to the ice. But overall we had a wonderful stay.

  • "The rooms were bright and airy, the views were fantastic, and we were delighted to find ourselves so near the Cumbria Way."

We very much enjoyed the large screen TV for its coverage of the women's Euros. Two kitchen shelves were not clean on arrival. The living room carpet was slightly dusty. The light above the stairs did not work. The kitchen could have been better stocked (we bought and left in the kitchen a large serving spoon). Otherwise all was well and we found the facilities and comfort excellent, as was the location We broke a wine glass - sorry - and we found one dessert bowl broken after a dishwasher wash.

  • "We enjoyed staying at Spindle Coppice."

It has a great location with a view of farmland, grassland and the hills. On arrival we found the cottage to be very clean. Some feedack to make it even better for future guests: 1. The shower on the top floor was great. But the shower on the ground floor did not have adequate water pressure 2. It would be good to have hand washing soap provided in all the bathrooms 3. We had booked the cottage for 7 days, but found only 3 or 4 dishwasher tablets. We think at least one dishwasher tablet per day should be provided 4. The dishwasher had run out of salt and was giving out some kind of alert indication

  • "We love the property, the views are amazing!"

The cottage is spacious and well furnished and presented. As home owners who rent abroad, we are aware of the minor issues that can be annoying. The following did not affect our holiday in any way, but you should be aware of them before further renters stay at the cottage. FYI the second television in the snug/sitting room does not work, even though we changed the batteries. The remotes needed new batteries. There is a strange mixture of glasses, only 4 suitable for juice? Thanks for a great holiday. We would certainly recommend the cottage to friends. Liz Marlow

Hi Liz, So happy that you enjoyed your stay at Spindle Coppice, as fellow holiday homeowners you know that it's always nice to get positive feedback from our guests. The niggles you have pointed out have already been dealt with, for the next guest's arrival. Thank you for booking and we hope to welcome you again, sometime soon. • "The cottage was lovely."

Great location and despite rain for most of out stay, we had a fab time. It would be nice if a pint of milk and some teabags /coffee were left.l for guests. After a long journey, it's always greatly appreciated. Obviously costs for this can also be hidden in the cottage rental fees, but it's a nice touch and one that most cottages do do (and some leave more too!). Also more washing liquid would be good.

The views are unrivaled, location was perfect for us and the quality was excellent. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful stay with access straight onto the fells. Our only feedback if asked for improvements would be that there is only 1 shower. If there were 6 of you that would be tricky.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
