"Lovely cottage and setting ."
Plenty of space and bathrooms Easy access to the Lakes . Generally clean some evidence of party glitter and very thick cobwebs on ceiling . Toilet seat downstairs broken on arrival .Downstairs . Tap to bath very lose . Unable to turn heat down radiators in some room as knob missing or open window - very hot until we found thermostat Information in house re instructions for heat etc not found
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments of your stay at Westwood. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to hear that the cleanliness was not consistent throughout the property. We take all comments on board. Thank you The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"Beautiful house - great location but is in need of some TLC."
Cabinets in kitchen are getting a bit shabby and loose. Broken shelf in shower room in main bedroom. Would greatly benefit from a proper manual to tell you all about the house, how things work and where to find things. Would stay again as a great house for a large family get together. Loved our time in the Lakes.

"Absolutely stunning property would definitely return, we were a family of 8 so the space was welcomed."
This property is well equipped and has taken on previous feedback about toilet roll not being enough. The beds are comfy, we didn’t have any issue with heating, it was lovely and cosy only thing is we could not get the electric fire place to work however the central heating provided enough heat. The property is in walking distance to the shops and beautiful surroundings. The only issue is that car parking space was not enough for two big cars but we were able to park one outside the property and the other in the space provided with a tight squeeze. All in all a lovely experience.

"Only 1 toilet roll per toilet provided, no spares ( previous reviews have noted this) No separate hand towels provided for bathroom or kitchen No hand soap provided in downstairs cloakroom No basic foods ( milk - (except for a few individual sachets,) bread or butter provided ) something I have always found provided in every other s/c accommodation I’ve booked."
Food items ( eg sauces) and cleaning materials stored in the same cupboard - constitutes health and safety / hygiene issue Kitchen bin lid doesn’t close properly - health & hygiene issue No kitchen scissors Property details clearly advised it’s suitable for infants / toddlers, but no safety corner protection on coffee table / tv unit Basin in downstairs cloakroom is too high for children / shorter adults ton use comfortably Baths in attic bedroom and 1st floor family bathroom ( not en-suite) very high - no safety grab rails for safer access WiFi information wasn’t immediately obvious No operating instructions for TV, washing machine or dishwasher ( previous reviews have noted this) Cot not put up ahead of arrival, despite email confirmation that it was requested - nor information about where to find it . Likewise, high chair location No information central heating instructions - yes it was June, but wet and chilly - no heating available all week No clothes airer No vacuum Toilet roll holder in 1st floor family bathroom loose No shelf in attic bathroom or 1st floor family bathroom for toiletries No local attractions information eg leaflets ( lack noted in previous reviews) No information re what to do about bedding prior to departure Phone number on booking form not available in the evening for general advice ( eg whereabouts of cot / high chair). Luxury’cosmetic’ appearance of Westwood definitely provides a ‘Wow’ factor to the property, but useful practical details appear to be overlooked

"Brilliant house, much nicer and larger in person."
Amazing location. Great amenities. Would 100% stay again. We all loved it!
-
"Lovely spacious cottage."
Very comfortable and quiet. We couldn’t work out how to get BBC on the TV.
-
"Great cottage on the outskirts of Windermere we stayed 8th and 9th of December."
Had a great time house is lovely very spacious will be 100% booking to come back
-
"The property is large and well maintained."
Good fixtures and fittings. Comfortable beds. The location is great for getting about and less than 2 miles from the main part of Windermere.

"Was a lovely stay, was really nice due to such great weather- I would definitely come back."
There are a few small things which are good to point out. The house is cold and stays in the shade all day which is nice when theres a heatwave but I can imagine it being very cold other times as we got chilly in the house, the patio area is small and not big enough if you have 8 people, its also in the shade. The amenities are good but would be helpful if there were more toilet roll provided as we were only given half a toilet roll in one of the bathrooms, more baking trays and would be great to be given some washing up liquid/ cleaning supplies other than the sponge and dishwasher tablets provided. It would also be great to be provided the basics of a kitchen like salt and pepper. The TV didn’t work properly - couldnt use netflix, couldn’t use freeview, only free prime video worked and disney+

"The house was very clean and comfortable."
The kitchen was very well equipped, only thing we needed more of was baking trays to use in the ovens. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

"Beautiful house, very spacious, comfortable beds, maybe a tv in all bedrooms would be good for some families/groups, large wide sofas to 'lounge' on (not made to just sit on)."
We loved the location, 5 minutes into both Windemere and Bowness on a quiet private road. Downsides- lack of garden (we weren't in long enough to bother us but may some people) Nowhere to dry washing not even a maiden inside (washerdryer in kitchen but not very environmentally aware for all use) No sweeping brush or vacuum (not what you go on holiday to do I know but for me I like to keep where I am staying tidy) Overall, this is a beautiful house to make your home for length of your stay. We would definitely come back again. We all had a wonderful 2 weeks and this house just made our stay so lovely

"Boiler is not up to standard for a holiday rental."
Went without hot water for part of the stay.
Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to read that you had no hot water during your stay but I am pleased to see that our maintenance team attended the same day that your reported the problem. Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"Fridge was broken upon arrival, there was a replacement fridge but this was way too small for 8 people."
The car park for 2 cars was too small for us to fit both cars but overall the house was comfortable, tidy, great and would recommend.
Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to hear that you found the property to be clean and comfortable. We are sorry to hear of the issue that you experienced with the fridge, we will ask our Maintenance Team to look into this. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"We enjoyed the holiday at the property the access instructions need rewriting as they do not explain the situation correctly."
We got on well with the neighbours who thought the mixed parking and access instructions were brought about from in the past people being directed to the site by sat navs Using a right of way as a car access. The space for 2 cars to park is very small and 1 car had to shunt 8 times to get in forward and by car had to reverse up the road and back in in 3 shunts as the road was to narrow. The lounge fire was not able to operate.Neighbours said they would like us to stop for a month so we felt welcome.
Thank you for your feedback. The owners will be able to see your suggestions and can review the instructions where necessary. We are glad that you felt welcomed and enjoyed your holiday. Lakelovers Owner Relations Property Owner

"The house was great."
Perfect location for Windermere, Bowness and to explore the wider area. Comfy beds loads of space and the kitchen was very well equipped. We always try to leave a house clean and tidy but I wasn’t keen on the list of cleaning requirements emailed to us the day before we left. Whilst I understand this is someone’s property I don’t come on holiday to clean. To expect the place to be left exactly as it was on arrival is unrealistic. One would hope professional cleaners are employed rather than expecting guests to provide this service. The property would benefit from a welcome pack to give instructions on how to use things like the heating, wifi, and general information about the area. The only info was about putting the bins out! The property was great, the service not so great
Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We will take a look at the arrival information to see if anything needs to be amended. The departure information is a generic email that is sent to all guests advising them of the standard the property needs to be left in. Each property is thoroughly cleaned between lets by our housekeeper but we expect our guests to leave things clean and tidy. Thank you. Property Owner

"We had a great week at Westwood."
It is spacious, comfortable and was very clean. The kitchen is great for cooking and the large settees in the lounge very welcome after a days walking. Membership of the local leisure centre was a real bonus and we went 3 times. Some information about the heating would be helpful but overall one of the best cottages we have stayed in and would definitely recommend.

"Westwood is a lovely holiday cottage, very comfortable, spacious and great location (the top floor is not really suitable for adults as very low ceilings)."
The images on the listing with the dining table set for 8 guests is incorrect - the table is more of a booth in the kitchen area which was comfortable for 6 people and then 3 bar stools at the kitchen island (the kitchen image does also not match the current kitchen) Towels had been missed from the twin bedroom and there was some hand soap in a couple of the bathrooms but then not in others - also would have liked an extra toilet roll for each bathroom. A welcome pack to describe the local area, facilities etc but also how to use the heating and the rubbish instructions would have been useful (the windows were also quite tricky to open and close).

"Amazing home - amazing stay."
As regular lake visitors this was our first joint family home where 3 different households shared. And we loved it!!! The cottage is Absolutely beautiful - well presented - clean - lovely neighbours and plenty of parking. The cottage was in a very ideal location with only being minutes drive from Ambleside and average of 30 minutes away from others of our favourite places. As family overall we all loved every day spent here and was sad to leave - we are a big board game family and utilised our own games plus others situated in the living room which we thought was a brilliant touch. Only few let downs for us was the following: - 2 radiators did not work. Unfortunately they were in my mother and my mother in laws rooms who do not appreciated being cold so we did have to call the maintenance men out. - I think the property would really benefit from a local guide booklet, with info on places to go and see. Information on the health centre you had access to and include activities like go ape and boat hire places for the kids. Being a regular lake visitor we did not need this but my mother who was a first timer did bring this up as being something others would benefit from. - local leisure centre was part of the property and we were given a code to be able to access the pool. This code did not work. When the code was given the man said that was not the code and also you needed to update your membership. Out of good will for my family though he did let us in. - I was given 2 different key codes for the front door. The original key code given via my account on the website did not work. Luckily I checked my email version and that completely different code worked no problem. Maybe update the website the match the email so allow no confusion. With all that said I have to say we will more than likely be back. Absolutely in love with this cottage. It has clearly had a lot of work done to it also and the modernisation of the property is beautiful. Loved it loved it loved it!!

"Some of the cooking utensils need replacing and some just need more of (such as teaspoons)."
Difficult to get two cars in the allocated parking spaces unless they are small cars.
-
"Lovely house with plenty of room for our whole party."
We did call twice to get more towels as there where 2 sets short and they never appeared. But other than this it was a beautiful place to stay and we would come back again.
-
"Cottage was lovely, shame there is no garden but not much you can do about that."
A few small areas of maintenance that could have been improved on... 1. We had a leak from the bathroom into the downstairs toilet below. Guy came very quickly to fix it, but his attempted fix didn't work and the issue recurred, so we just stopped using that bath. 2. Some of the lights in some bedrooms and on the landing didn't work. 3. Some of the handles on doors and cupboards were loose, making operation difficult.

"Westwood was a brilliant base for our family holiday, only 10 mins walk into Windermere and large enough for us all to enjoy our time together without getting under each others’ feet!"
