"We had a lovely five days at The Gallery."
The property is very well appointed and furnished and is in a wonderful position in the centre of Grasmere with its own parking place. A couple of things to bear in mind though: if you are over 6 feet tall you will have to be careful to avoid head injuries with the low slope of the roof - we had to use the twin single beds in the back room due to the danger of knocking yourself out if getting up in the dark. The shower is very efficient but also very slippy underfoot (could do with a slip-mat) and, bearing in mind how much has obviously been spent on the property, surely the budget could have stretched to some decent clothes hangers - the few that were provided looked like they had been picked up off the floor of TK Maxx! Other than these observations, The Gallery is superb and I would not hesitate in recommending to anyone - we'll certainly be back.

"We have stayed at the Gallery many times now."
Grasmere is a beautiful village and an ideal centre for exploring the Lakes. The bus connections make the use of a car during the week unnecessary. The Gallery is a superb place to stay with all the facilities you require including an EV charger. The owners are so welcoming and helpful. Always sad to leave and looking forward to our next visit already.

"We returned to the Gallery again because it’s comfortable and we love being able to go on lots of walks from the door so perfect if you don’t fancy doing lots of driving."
-
"All great, has everything that is needed."
Wonderful location

"Very comfortable, bright, well positioned apartment in Grasmere."
Really quiet. Comfortable beds; large, clean shower room; well equipped kitchen. My favourite bit was that there were some excellent views of trees and Grasmere slate buildings. Oh, and the lovely goodies awaiting our arrival!! Thanks

"FOREVASINGLEMAN myself stayed at The Gallery holiday apartment above The Lakes Art Gallery in Grasmere village centre for one week from Saturday 22 June 2024 (4pm BST onwards), to Saturday 29 June 2024 (10am BST), all by myself and generally i enjoyed it, more so during the evenings and nights period when nobody was in the art gallery below, when it was much more quieter during the afore mentioned, not that i was in much during the day time while i was on vacation thankfully."
The chocolates and white wine already provided on my arrival was appreciated, the flat itself is generally very good. The television with it's Smart TV and wireless internet was a bonus, albeit the only drawbacks during my stay was the absence of DAB radio coverage in Grasmere which is non-existent (i brought my small DAB radio with me in advance), and even FM radio coverage itself is poor, and the lack of Freeview TV coverage, yet compensated by the LG TV app with it's hundreds of different channels, and oddly enough thru my inquisitiveness installing an unknown app which allowed Freesat TV programmes as the holiday flat i have discovered has a satellite dish, but no terrestrial TV aerial externally as Grasmere is in a Freeview light area, served by a TV relay station not far away as most buildings nearby have vertically polarised external terrestrial TV aerials pointing in one direction. Being in summer this holiday itself, upstairs was quite warm and humid (even with windows open), yet going downstairs nearer the entrance and exit door of the holiday flat (door closed of course) it was nice and cool, and very refreshing. Grasmere has good links to nearby places like Keswick, Ambleside and Windermere to name a few and yes these were bonuses as well. All Electric flat is perfect, no gas to worry about, with two bedrooms, one with a double bed, while the other bedroom had two single beds, and being a happy forever single man myself, i kept to sleeping in one of the two single beds in the twin bedded bedroom throughout my holiday as single beds are easier to maintain and replete of room for one person (myself) without any brain damage whatsoever. To conclude i may not rule out another future vacation at The Gallery holiday flat at a future date myself, so yes i do recommend this establishment, especially if you are a single person happy to holiday all on one's own, like i did myself as it happens !

"Modern cosy apartment in a great location in the middle of Grasmere with very friendly owners who allowed me the use of an electric car charger."
We will definitely consider staying there again in the future.

"We had a lovely week’s holiday in February in the gallery."
The apartment was lovely and incredibly well furnished with all the amenities. It was both warm and comfortable. The Gallery was an ideal location for exploring Grasmere and the surrounding area. We will definitely return for another stay!

"I have left the same message in the guest book."
The storage heaters are inadequate and by the evening give out a minimum of heat. It was very cold whilst we were in Grasmere. The electric heaters in bathroom and bedroom come on about 5.00pm. Would have liked that to be earlier. Would only go back in the Summer. We wouldn't go away with Sykes again. £40.00 booking fee totally unacceptable..

"Very clean and well equipped."
Made to feel welcome. Perfect location and would wholeheartedly recommend.
-
"We returned to the Gallery after a few years break - prices had become a bit more than we were willing to pay."
However it was great to be back and as warm and comfortable as before. A superb spot to visit the Central Lakes with convenient bus connections in various directions.

"Lovely stay again."
This is our third visit to the Gallery. Perfect location for us - excellent walking from the door. Comfortable and cosy as always.
-
"Wonderful week stay with our little family at The Gallery."
Perfect location and all the amenities within the apartment that you could possibly need. The new Smart TV was a fab addition too. Lovely touch with the chocolates and wine on arrival.
-
"Fantastically situated and ideal for a couple or family."
Well-equipped kitchen with everything you need for a long stay - washer/dryer, iron etc. Bathroom has a good shower which is really important after long hikes! Lots of restaurants and good pubs in walking distance as well - we didn't need to drive all week. Smart TV was nice to have on a lazy evening after a big hike. We'll be returning.

"Overall we enjoyed our stay."
We found the apartment very clean, comfortable & spacious. There were a few minor issues as mentioned by previous guests such as broken winding handles on a couple of skylights, TV could do with updating plus the fridge was not very efficient. Apart from this everything was fine & we would certainly consider returning, particularly if these issues were addressed in which case we would give a five star rating.
-
"The apartment was just as pictured, very well laid out, and clean."
The parking space was a bit tight with our car, but we managed sufficiently. The only minor issue for me was the mattress on the double bed, I just couldn't get comfortable, it was to soft for my liking. However, It did not make the holiday any less enjoyable, and overall, we were very comfortable in the apartment. We would definitely consider booking again.
Thank you for your kind comments. We are glad that you were able to enjoy your holiday despite the mattress. The owner will see this feedback so will be able to assess the mattress for future bookings. We do hope we can welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

"Two Points: (1) No oven glove and we used the oven."
Trying to use a new-towel as protection isn't very safe (2) Please consider supplying a Smart TV. This is, after all, 2023 not 2003!

"Loved it, such a great space in a brilliant location and really appreciate how homely it felt with more than just the basics."
Thank you!
-
"Bed in master bedroom and sofa in lounge need replacing."
Skylights need cleaning, blocking out what light there is. Opening mechanism on skylight in Lounge is missing. Parking is awkward, especially when gallery staff are parked and there are cars parked in front of garages. Response to comments would be appreciated as we would definitely consider the apartment again if we knew these issues were addressed. Guest instruction booklet needs updating to replace the covid instructions Chocolates were a nice touch. Thank you

"Super property really well appointed with everything we needed."
Great attention to detail and easy to use. Brilliant location. Nice to have parking out the front of the property. Our car fitted on the driveway but probably worth flagging a larger car might be tight.
-
"Our second visit to this property and we enjoyed it as much as the first one."
It’s location is so convenient for bus services and local walks with shops, pubs and restaurants providing everything you could possibly need close by. The accommodation is comfortable, clean and well equipped nearly home from home. We will be returning again next year.
-
"Another lovely holiday staying at The Gallery."
Clean and comfortable as before and the perfect base for lots of different walks without having to use the car. Thank you again.
-
"We had a fabulous week in this apartment."
Very comfortable and had everything we needed. It is as described on the website and was very clean. It is in a perfect location and we were able to walk every day from the door. We hope to return and would definitely recommend to friends and family.

"Brilliant apartment which is well appointed and located in the heart of Grasmere."
Would absolutely recommend this apartment and would love to come back one day
-
"Brilliant apartment in a fantastic location."
Cleanest let we have arrived to in a long time. One small comment would be that the mattress could be more comfy, but this is subjective! Highly recommended.
-

About the location
GRASMERE
Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.
Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
