  • "This is the second visit to Stone Cross and it won’t be the last."

Last year we stayed in Rowley. This year Alice. There are no negatives comments at all. The whole feeling about Stone Cross just feels right. We would highly recommend anyone visiting the area to pick Stone Cross. Thank you Mike for another great week Eric, Tracy & Seeley (the pooch)

  • "A lovely place to stay in a great location - quiet but very close (5 minutes walk) to the town & all its amenities."

The mansion is fabulous and the apartments are all fitted-out and maintained to a very high standard. Lovely grounds with plenty of equipment provided for the various activities. The owners are happy for you to continue to use the grounds even after check-out. We would highly recommend Stone Cross Mansion as a place to stay.

  • "Had a lovely week staying in the Alice apartment at Stone Cross Mansion."

Well equipped apartment and the beds were very comfortable. The times we needed to contact the owner were dealt with quickly and efficiently. Ulverston is a lovely place to stay and a great base to explore the southern lakes from. Only downside was the rotten weather for the first half of the week! Would happily return.

  • "We love staying here, this was our second visit."

The house is spectacular and there are additional facilities since our last stay. Overall excellent, but a couple of dissatisfiers to make you aware of: not enough cutlery or mugs in the kitchen (our apartment sleeps 6, but only 8 mugs), wi-fi was erratic and we struggled with it, noise from table football could be heard through our bedroom wall. Maybe put up a polite notice to guests that the indoor games should not be played after 9pm?

All rooms were spacious with beautiful modern furniture in a wonderful location the grounds and facilities provided at the mansion were a bonus. A central location of Ulverston with all amenities on your doorstep. Staff at the mansion were amazing and happy to help and assist with any issues. We cannot wait to visit again.

  • "This is a spacious apartment in a splendid house."

It is surprisingly private with its own entrance and sitting out area, that gets the sun after 1pm in June. It is quiet and peaceful. The accommodation is beautifully furnished with modern classic furniture and fittings. Really well done. For those of us with mobility problems it is OK. One step up to get in then level. The shower has a step up too and no grab handle. The maintenance and attention to detail is exemplary.

Very comfortable, slept really well , a fantastic place to meet up with family and create memories . Grounds were well kept and loved the area with lots of independent little shops in the town and a great place to start exploring Cumbria from. We would definitely stay at stonecross again and would recommend to family and friends.

Well equipped too and very handy having M&S Food and Aldi on the doorstep. The Wi-Fi is terrible, which can be frustrating if you really need it, but we managed! Easy communication with management/owners when necessary and a lovely friendly and helpful team. This will definitely be our place to stay whenever we visit the Lakes in future. Thank you!

  • "It was a lovely apartment."

The only very minor issue we came across was one of the bedroom doors didn't close too well. We told management, who came round straight away to get it sorted for us. It was a very comfortable and clean stay with lots of places in a short distance to visit. Our favourite was the safari zoo! It was the perfect getaway.

Our host was just as welcoming as usual and the cleaning ladies were charming. We loved spending the early evening sitting in the grounds drinking champagne. Spoiling ourselves. Alice is a comfortable apartment on the ground floor which allows dogs and that Zac finds perfect for her needs.

Everything we could wish for, especially for a fortnight in January. Warm, comfortable and inviting accommodation whatever the weather. Parking right at the door & dog friendly. Nice to have an interim clean and fresh laundry between the two weeks. A prestigious place that's well run. We enjoyed our stay very much.

A home from home. We would definitely revisit and recommend. We had an issue with the heating on arrival but this was rectified after a couple of hours and worked without a problem for the remainder of our stay. The kitchen is well equipped but we would suggest supplying additional cups or mugs so that there are spares when the dishwasher is on. Easy walk into Ulverston. The John Barrow monument is worth the walk as the views are amazing. We would recommend the Thai food at the kings arms and the quiz night at the Globe pub. Overall a lovely week

  • "We stayed at Stone Cross Mansions for a week in the Alice suite with our children and dog."

The apartments are brand new and I believe that we were some of the first people to stay since they were taken over by Jerry, Louise and Mike. The apartment was immaculately clean, beautifully furnished with elegant styling, very comfortable beds and thoughtful touches. When you're staying somewhere for a week, it is very helpful to have essential basics, such as binliners and loo paper, provided. There were even some treats for the dog as part of the welcome provisions. The apartments are very close to an Aldi and an M&S for supplies and within an easy walk to Ulverston Town Centre where there are some excellent restaurants - Poppy's cafe for a Full English (including veggi version) was great. The apartment was also a good spot to travel to the various lakes from, with an hour or so drive to Keswick. The lower part of Lake Windermere is only 20 minutes drive. The booking process with Syke was straightforward and the hosts were lovely and very helpful when needed. We would definitely stay again and wish the family every success with their venture. A lovely temporary home from which to see some of the most beautiful landscapes in England. Sam & family.

Thank you for the lovely detailed feedback, being a new property its so helpful getting feedback on the guest experience and we're so glad you had a nice time staying in the Alice suite. Hopefully we will see you again soon Mike and the team Property Owner

  • "Stunning building and surroundings."

The rooms were all tastefully decorated but the sofa was extremely low and uncomfortable and the two chairs provided weren't comfortable either. With a week sitting on this furniture I think perhaps a rethink is necessary. No extractor fan in the bathrooms. Very little workspace in the kitchen for meal preparation

Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the building and the surrounding area. It's great to get your feedback on what you feel we can do to improve the guest experience, we will look at ways the furniture and kitchen can accomodate all guests. There are currently trickle venting systems in the bathrooms but we are looking at ways we can install electric extractors in the bathrooms Thanks again Mike and the team Property Owner

  • "Everything was very new."

We don’t think we had a microwave or if we did it was integrated in something which we could not find- seems a bit of an oversight. Possibly could have done with six mugs as well as the cups provided but overall well appointed. We were only cooking for 4 but my wife said there might not be a pan big enough to cook a casserole for 6. WiFi worked well in the bedrooms but kept dropping out in the lounge. Lovely TV. We were closer to Ulverston centre than we realised and having found the way through to the side gate on to the road enjoyed walking down into town for a meal or a drink. Overall we had a very relaxing and happy stay.

Thank you for your lovely feedback on your stay in the Alice suite. We really appreciate you taking the time. Off the back of your constructive comments, we have since added the additional mugs and and glasses and have added boosters to help with the internet connectivity in the lounge. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon Mike and the team Property Owner
