  • "A beautiful building in a good location."

A 5 minute walk to the Aldi and Marks and Spencer supermarkets. Rowley suite is well equipped. We explored the lakes as far as buttermere and enjoyed some breathtaking walks and scenery. Rowley suite is looking a little tired and really could do with a new rug and scatter cushions in the lounge area as the current ones are shabby. New pillows, duvet and particularly bath towels need replacing as very worn. The reed diffuser in the entrance lobby was bone dry and had not been refilled, which is a shame as Wax Lyrical is only a couple of miles up the road and prices so very affordable. The biggest let down unfortunately was the noise coming from above Rowley suite. It was so bad that we convinced ourselves there must be workmen carrying out repairs or renovating the above accommodation. I did contact the owner of the problem and I believe Mike spoke to the family above and asked them to stop it but unfortunately the problem only became worse over our week stay causing a real noise pollution. We made the most of our time exploring what the lake district has to offer but unfortunately it is with a heavy heart that we wouldn't return due to the disturbance of unacceptable noise. We wish Mike and his team continued success. Many thanks.

  • "Stone Cross Mansion has been tastefully redeveloped, and Rowley House is a wonderfully comfortable and stylish flat, offering three good sized bedrooms, each with it's own toilet facilities, as well as being dog-friendly."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the minor issue with a coffee maker was quickly and effectively remedied. The presence of the indoor games - pool table and table football - as well as outdoor games greatly added to our stay. Ulverston is a road less travelled in terms of the Lake District. We loved that it was less crowded, and yet we were in easy striking distance of many of the Lakeland attractions. We would thoroughly recommend this accommodation whatever the weather, and Rowley House is a real gem. Thank you to all who contributed to our stay being such a success.

  • "An absolutely lovely stay, thank you."

We thoroughly appreciated the back story to the mansion and the great care taken in all the planning, design and maintenance of both the outside and inside including the beautiful main hall area. A great location for travel around the peninsula and into the western, central and northern lake districts; peaceful; and nearby shops within 10mins walking distance added to make our fortnight stay easy and relaxing. Thank you for the outdoor games too and getting more badminton nets. The means to chill outdoors as if in one's back garden really enhanced the whole experience. We thoroughly recommend it as a place to stay and wonder what all the other apartments are like!

  • "A very good stay at Rowley House 6-13 July 2024."

Everywhere was spotless and well maintained. We did have a safety issue in the bathroom which could be easily remedied A non slip mat is needed in the shower as both my wife and I are elderly and infirm and found the shower base surface to be slippy when wet. To ease getting into and out of the shower safely a grab / safety rail positioned on the left hand wall as you get in to the shower would greatly improve safety as there is nothing to grab hold of getting into and out of the shower. We did actually purchase a bath mat for use during our stay. All in all a great stay and very relaxing. Thank you.

  • "What can we say ,, Rowley was just Perfect !"

from the size , to the comfort and style , so much thought goes in to providing everything you need , from the well equipped kitchen, to the beautifully folded towels , throws , dog treats ( dog friendly ) powerful showers , just stunning ! Even as adults , we enjoyed the little games and putting green in the beautifully kept gardens , views of wild life , cows grazing , so relaxing ! The staff we saw were very helpful, and nothing was too much trouble . It’s very quiet with no neighbour noise , and the village is 5 minutes walk away , we enjoyed the local “haunted pub” which was extremely welcoming , with nightly entertainment , but very olde world! The steam train was one of our favourites ! And such a short drive away . It was our 2nd visit to the mansion , and even though we didn’t take the dog , we saw one next door , who seemed to love it as much as we did

Perfectly located with superb grounds to enjoy. The apartment was fabulous with everything you needed and a great welcome pack, which included dog treats. The cleanliness was faultless (thanks to Christine) and there is nothing negative to say. Special thanks to Mike for his hospitality and looking forward to returning very soon.

Rowley house is so comfortable and stylish the owner was friendly and very helpful. The only thing it was short of is a large pan. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend Rowley house to anyone visiting the area.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay. We'll look into putting a larger pan in there, we have since put additional ovenware in the apartment to help with larger groups. Thanks again and we hope to see you again at Stone Cross Soon Mike and the team Property Owner

  • "Our apartment at Stone Cross Mansion in Ulverston was superb."

We had a lovely week away in September with friends visiting some of the well known places in the Lakes. The facilities on site were really good & the restoration of such a beautiful building with smart modern interiors made it a great guest experience. Ulverston itself had plenty of places to eat out together with food stores for in house catering. As the apartment was also dog friendly, this made it an easy destination for us to choose. Hopefully, we will return again one day.

The apartment was exactly as advertised, clean, well maintained with quality fixture, fittings and equipment. We chose the ground floor apartment as this would be easier for our disabled mother to access. The apartment is in a large victorian house with a lovely drive and is surrounded by landscaped gardens. The area is quiet but is just a few minutes walk into Ulverston and the local shops. We would definitely stay again and would recommend this apartment to anyone.

On arrival we were pleasantly surprised to find the lounge area had a larger sofa than in the pictures as we were a little worried there wouldn’t be enough places to sit as we were a group of 5 adults, but the new sofa was perfect. Our stay was over the Christmas period, we took a lot of things with us to decorate the apartment, including a tree! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our Christmas dinner perfectly. All in all it was a fantastic stay even though the weather was very wet. Mike was on hand for a minor issue we had with the heating and nothing seemed too much trouble. Would definitely recommend and we hope to be back at some point.

Lovely grounds and easy access to the town. Friendly, attentive owners who attended very quickly to a small issue we had. Suggestions we have are: The provision of towel rails would be nice. A few of the facilities in the Rowley Suite which sleeps 6 are for just 4 people (outside seating, place mats at the dining table, comfortable seating in the living room area). We would definitely think of booking again

Thank you for the feedabck and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in the Rowley suite. I really appreciate your feedback on the towel rails and facilities for six, we have since added two additional chairs to the outdoor seating, extra mats and, as well as the hooks on the bathrooms doors, we have installed towel hooks above the radiators in each bathroom. Thanks again for your comments and we hope to see you again soon Mike and the team Property Owner

  • "This was a wonderful place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone."

Gorgeous house, gorgeous setting. The facilities were brand new and top notch. Thank you to the property owner for the thoughtfully laid out and kitted out apartment. As for constructive criticisms, the wifi was a bit tricky and didn't work very well with our Apple tech (iPads and laptops) which caused us a bit of frustration. Maybe also advise guests to log out of tv apps Netflix and Amazon before they leave as failure to do so caused us some problems when we got first there when we tried to log in. We also wished there was more sofa space/bigger sofas as there was a bit of competition who would nab the spots on the sofa as the two chairs were not as comfy. But overall we really loved it; thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to write this detailed feedback, We loved that you had an enjoyable stay. For the points mentioned, we really appreciate your feedback and I'm sorry there were some small issues throughout your stay. For the Wifi, we have since installed boosters in the apartment to help with the internet connection. For the Netflix/Amazon login, the tv's unfortunately don't automatically sign out of the login so we have to rely on guests logging out at the end of their stay as it can't always be monitored. We've asked this in the welcome pack but will look to put a how2 guide in there as well to help with this. Thank you for the comments on the seating in the living room. We have tried to make sure there is enough confortable seating for everyone staying in Rowley but we will look at ways we can utilise the space to add more seating if required. Thanks again Mike and the team Property Owner
