  • "This is a unique property, with a lot of history (built in 1874) and incredible accommodation."

The apartment was absolutely superb (Apartment 3 - Wilfred). The most spacious living room we've stayed in - which used to be the dinning hall, still showing some of the original features. Cosy bedrooms, spotless bathrooms, luxurious welcome pack. Warm, welcoming and comfortable. Great attention to detail and wow factor. It was nice having the book to read about the place and Ulverston. Good location for the Lakes, short walk into town where there are lots of shops and the Laurel & Hardy museum, pubs & restaurants. The outside space of the property is well-kept, with games, but also quiet spots. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

  • "We absolutely loved The Wilfred Suite at Stone Cross Mansion."

The original features were amazing and had been restored so well. The space gave us great flexibility and having the outside area was an added bonus. The kitchen had everything we needed and more, and the sofa was so comfortable and had adequate space for everyone. The 'grown-up' children particularly enjoyed the pool table and games outside, and the adults appreciated the space, tranquility and beautifully maintained gardens. We hope to come back next year and do the things we didn't do this year and we have already recommended Stone Cross Mansion to our family and friends.

  • "Stone Cross Mansion was such a unique holiday rental to stay in."

Beautiful building and very well maintained grounds. The apartment had everything that we needed and was nice and clean. The advance sharing of the information pack prior to our arrival was very helpful. The children loved all the various activities dotted around the grounds. It was also very convenient to have food shops at the end of the drive. Only thing that was patchy was the WiFi, but that wasn’t really a surprise. Would definitely recommend staying to friends. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "We had a lovely week staying in The Wilfred Suite, which is walking distance from Ulverston town centre which made a pleasant change as we are usually miles away from anything."

Loved the apartment, facilities were great, loved the pool table, my only downside (small) was that the apartment was overlooked , I didn’t realise from photos on the site that the houses at the back were as close as they were, not a massive problem and we would come back but probably to an apartment on the other side of the house.

  • "Stonecross is a beautiful property to stay in with a definite wow factor!"

We enjoyed using the pool table, outdoor space, and games available. The apartment is high spec and tastefully done. We found the beds very hard, but that is a personal preference comment. The wifi is a bit patchy, especially in the back 2 bedrooms and the TV sound doesn't fare well in such a large living space and would benefit from surround speakers or a soundbar. As foodies, we would recommend including a garlic press and some larger pans to cook with. Other than that, it was a great stay!

Thank you for your feedback. we are glad you had a nice stay and your feedback really helps. We have since installed a surround sound speaker system which has helped in the large living room, as well as an additional television in the master bedroom. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon. Mike and the team Property Owner

We had our own private terrace and it was very peaceful. The property itself is breathtaking with incredible living space. A real gem. We will definitely be coming back again

  • "Great location, fantastic suite (Wilfred), very well equipped kitchen."

Idea for big families like mine is. Clear instructions how to get in and how to check out. Highly recommended. If there was anything to be changed - it would be the bed in the master en-suite bedroom - it was the smallest double bed. Definitely will come back. Kind regards Peter & the family

Thank you for your feedback, it really helps tailor our offering. We have since changed the bed in en-suite to a larger king size bed. Thank you again for the feedback and we hope to see you again soon. Mike and the Stone Cross team Property Owner

  • "The most beautiful place to stay."

It really is perfect, from the amazing architecture of the mansion to the luxurious interior of the apartment. The quality of the furnishings is second to none and the workmanship of the renovation is a joy to see. You don’t often get to stay in such amazing surroundings like that and be able to see the pictures around the main hall of the original plans was special. A lovely setting to enjoy with family. We all enjoyed playing pool in the main hall too! Truly magnificent.

  • "We spent a week in The Wilfred Suite."

The house is very impressive and the entrance hall exceptionally so! The apartment was beautifully restored with many original features kept. The beds were very comfortable and it was so peaceful! The kitchen facilities were excellent with plenty of crockery pans etc and there was a very generous welcome package. We liked the cupboard in the communal hall which was full of games for all ages and kept our granddaughter very busy. We were very lucky with the weather and had just one day of rain so had some wonderful days out visiting the Lakes Aquarium, Conishead Priory and Ulswater amongst other places. We come to the Lakes regularly to visit relatives and will hopefully be able to stay here again.

  • "Stone Cross Mansion is a beautiful property!"

A very special place to spend time in, we couldn't fault it at all. Our apartment was so spacious and stylish, and every little thing has been considered. The grounds and setting are also stunning, and there were always staff around tending to the site and keeping the environment beautifully in order. The location is great too. So convenient for access to the Lakes, all useful amenities within walking distance, and Ulverston itself is a lovely market town with so many shops and eateries. I would not hesitate to recommend both the property and the location.

  • "The apartment is stunning."

The main open planning living area is lovely. The bedrooms are on the small side with very little storage. The only very minor points for us was that the Wi-Fi was very hit and miss so very limiting for working and the bathrooms need a fan as they have no windows and get very steamy Overall we had a lovely time and apartment is located very close and a short walk to Ulverston town centre and to supermarkets

Thank you for the feedback and I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in the Wilfred suite. We have since resolved an access point issue which should help with the internet. being such a large apartment along with the thick walls we are constantly trying ways to reduce deadzones. We are also looking at ways to bring better ventilation to the bathrooms with the developers and should have this resolved soon. Thanks again an we hope to see you again soon Mike and the team Property Owner
