  • "Clean, tidy and with everything that we needed for the holiday."

A quiet location a short way out of a charming small town. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Thank you for your comments. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your time with us, Lorna and Peter Property Owner

  • "Lovely property although was not detached as we thought on booking."

Set in a complex next to a gym and spa it would have been nice to know in advance that we could use the facilities albeit on an ad hoc basis. Very well equipped, exceptionally clean and peaceful. Well placed for lots of interesting towns and villages we liked Settle and Skipton. The Bank in K.L. is a must.....go there first and learn about the town from earlier generations. A great experience to whet your appetite before a walk around the town. Ruskin's View on a sunny day is not to be missed!

  • "Lovely cosy cottage with everything needed for a comfortable stay ."

Good location to explore the lakes and further afield. There were a couple of lights not working in cottage, the standing lamp in living room and kitchen lights . ( Maybe I just couldn't find that particular switch) But nothing major.will definitely be back at some point .

Thank you for your feedback. Just in case you do return we would like you to know as you enter the sitting room entrance door the two light switches that you could not find are immediately on your right and when switched on all the lights work including the one that you thought needed a new bulb. We hope to see you again soon, Lorna and Peter Property Owner

  • "Enjoyable stay, Kirby Lonsdale is a pretty little town with some good places to eat, we liked Avanti especially."

The house was as described and very comfortable with everything as desired. Beds downstairs are 2’6” pushed together to form a 5’ double, small shower room is across the hallway. Upstairs is a 5’ double bed, with well equipped bathroom adjacent.and a small sitting room. The shower cubicle upstairs is small.

  • "A couple of minor maintenance issues: 1) The extractor in the upstairs bathroom does not work 2) The kitchen sink plug does not fit correctly so water constantly drains from the sink."

Otherwise a very enjoyable stay, thank you!

  • "We wanted to return to this area where we enjoyed a great holiday last year in Melling."

Initial impressions were very positive. However when we came to lock the front door on our first night we found we could not from the inside. The following morning we consulted the information folder for a contact number to report this. The only one provided was for use in the event of fire. We used the Sykes provided number where we encountered a recorded message. Later in the week we were kept awake by the strobing security light, which had provided a problem for a previous visitor. We cut short our visit to seek some sleep. On our way down the M6 we were 'phoned in response to our phone call of the previous Monday. Great property undermined by by lack of support from owner/agent

We went to investigate the problem with the key and discovered that a tine from the key was missing and the key would lock it from the outside but not from the inside and as previous occupants had not had a problem we can only assume that you caused the problem. We have had a new key cut. There is no longer a problem. With regard to the light coming on with the wind the plant causing the problem has been cut back dramatically and should not activate the light again. Property Owner

  • "The security light outside the front door was activated by the wind / weather, Constantly on & off on 2 nights."

The shutter & curtain in the downstairs bedroom. I know we could have rung but only there 4 nights we deactivated the fuse instead. The stairs & floorboards were rather noisy, creaking when walked on. If you were cooking when the smoke alarm went off it was quite painful. That said it was a near perfect stay. Amazing quality building & fixtures, everything looked fresh & new, not a speck of dust or dirtt, didn’t want to go out!

Sorry about the outside light, it is not normally a problem it must have been particularly windy to have affected it in that way, Lorna and Peter Property Owner

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
