  • "We recently stayed at Waters Edge and had a fantastic holiday."

The surroundings were beautiful, with lovely walks and amazing views from the cottage. The cottage itself was perfect for a relaxing and romantic getaway, offering all the amenities we needed. The scenic walks around the lake were delightful, and the charming village of Brampton was just a short distance away. It’s a great base for exploring the Lakes, Scotland, and Northumberland. We left feeling completely relaxed and would definitely return to this amazing place.

  • "A stunning location and a beautiful cottage, we couldn’t have asked for more."

Hours and hours spent sat outside watching the world go by! Daily walks around the Tarn at all different times of the day we’re perfect, with a stop at the Talkin Tarn Tearoom for an ice cream one day and a breakfast sandwich another. The Cottage was perfectly equipped with everything we needed to self cater each day. Really beautiful surroundings, the weather wasn’t great but it didn’t matter at all as the outdoor canopy protects you from the ever changing forecast. We have had a fabulous time, thank you

  • "Fantastic property in a lovely location, everything you need is there, couldn’t fault it."

Only down side for me was the EV charger in the car park were out of action, which has nothing to do with the lodge and takes nothing away from this splendid place.

  • "Best place ever for position, fabulous view Parking near property would make it 100 per cent , Patricia is disabled so walking is difficult so access is paramount But would go again 100 per cent."

    Kitchen superb equipment .

Thank you for your lovely feedback. Whilst guests are unable to park outside the cottage they can use the slip road to drop off/pick up but then the car would need to be parked in the car park as the slip road has to be kept clear for emergency vehicle access. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. David and Julia Property Owner

  • "We have stayed in many properties booked through Sykes."

The Waters Edge is by far the most impressive, it's a little gem set in the perfect location. The beautiful view from the lodge across the Tarn, such a peaceful location. The lodge is perfect in every way possible. The owners have thought about everything to make a memorable stay. If only it was dog friendly, my boy would love it here. Need to have a look to see if any of the adjoining cottages are dog friendly. Looking forward to returning. The only thing concerning is that you have to park on the car park opposite the cottages. It would be beneficial if when staying in the lodge, parking could be at the gate to the property. The day we left a young couple staying in No 12 had no consideration, they had their car parked up blocking the road, preventing me bringing my car down to the lodge. They could see my husband and I taking our luggage back and forth to our car. People need to be more considerate. We also had a guy take a shortcut through the lodge garden /gate to walk his dog, whilst we were in the lodge. Looked like a local. Thank you to the owners for giving us the opportunity to stay in Waters edge.

About the location

BRAMPTON, CUMBRIA

Carlisle 10 miles.

The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border reivers from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. In the centre of the town is Moot Hall, which was built in 1817, and now houses the Tourist Information Centre, and there is a large motte to the east of the town, which is 135 feet high and has the statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle on it. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Two miles away is Gelt Woods, which is an ancient woodland and RSPB nature reserve and has the River Gelt running through it. Brampton is a wonderful base for exploring this historic and scenic area.
