"Location- fabulous Views- lovely Television- poor service, volume and background deep hum, tuned in service poor, no DVD player as itemized in booking."
Bathroom- no ventilation WI Fi- very poor. However the apartment was lovely and hotel services on hand, where the wi fi was better.

"Accommodation was as advertised, all items functioned as stated."
Kitchen was fully provided with all implements required. Would not hesitate to return.

"Cozy rooms, very clean and comfortable with amazing views of Thirlemere lake from the private patio."
Some of the self catering equipment left a little to be desired. However it's beautifully situated for Keswick and walking in the fells and lakes. We loved it and would recommend it to friends.

Great cottage nice and quite, easy access to local bus service, and walking routes, price cheaper than booking direct with owner

"Idyllic spot with lovely views."
Hill walks from door. Need car as quite isolated - nearest shop 6 miles away. Good pub over road for food as none available in hotel. Poor internet signal. Very comfortable bed, peaceful, lovely grounds and lake. Enjoyed visits to Buttermere, Derwent, Coniston and also Ruskin's House and Dove Cottage. Need to take all basics - tea/coffee/salt etc.

"Very pleasant stay."
Location was superb. Very peaceful. Knowledgeable and hospitable owner. Heating worked well (contrary to previous reviews). Amenities all good and working well. Very nice bathroom. Some plates and bowls were found dirty and needed rewashing. Despite this, we were VERY happy with our stay and absolutely would recommend this location to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, wonderfully serene retreat on the lake.

"Ground Settings and views stunning."
The whole place over all was very charming and a good base for us to explore the surrounding areas and relax in between.. lovely views to wake up to . Whole experience only Let down by a few things. 1. The room was generally cold. Heating pre programmed with control from us, and not coming on nearly enough for what was a cold Easter weekend. Only one radiator in the room and it was also set to a low heat. We had to open the bathroom door to try and heat the main space as it was the only warm room in the house. We called through to reception a few times to ask but no answer. Also sometimes no hot water so had to have Luke warm shower. 2. Towels were old with one having a tear in it. 3. Some simple essential things like salt and pepper, tea bags etc go a long way when renting a place and not have to go out and buy all these things when travelling. It makes a massive difference and this could easily be provided 4. The noise coming from the other flats was at times very intrusive. Walls etc are paper thin and you can hear everything. We had a family with young kids next to us that seemed unaware of how thin the walls are. Maybe customers can be made aware of this and asked to keep noise down? 4. There wasn't adequate cleaning materials. Just one dish sponge and an almost empty bottle of fairy liquid that I had to add water to. Again a simple and cheap thing to provide so we don't have to go out and buy all this for just a few nights stay. 5. Cooker was awful. Took forever to heat up. 6.TV must be 20yrs old and needs updating. 7.internet was shocking. I know place is rural so maybe can't be helped. I needed to do some work and at times was unusable. Seemed to always go down at night? Maybe something to pre warn customers before booking as if essential work was needed done then this would have been a problem. 8. Bed was very comfortable but pillows not great. Again, a lovely place. Friendly and helpful staff. Glad we stayed, but will look elsewhere next time given the above issues.

"We had a lovely week and this property is a good base to explore the Lake District."

"Lovely cottage great views very pleasant owners ."
Would highly recommend it for a peaceful holiday

"We read some negative reviews which we don’t agree with."
Yes some parts could be updated and maybe it’s not a hotel, but rooms and suites with a view, but it was very clean and served it’s purpose most definitely. It was comfortable and the views and location were amazing. We stayed in the thirlmere suit and we would go back and stay in the same suite. To repeat, view from the window was amazing and the location more so, especially for serious walkers.

"Location of the property was perfect for our needs."
Owners, when required, were keen to offer a pleasing service. However we booked as we could share the hotel facilities but only breakfast was on offer, which if we had known wouldn’t have booked. For me the accommodation was caught between self catering and hotel room but offered neither. No toaster, hoover or brush for the dust pan to keep clean, with muddy boots this was required. Just needed a tidy up and some fans in the kitchen and bathroom. Didn’t effect our stay and an enjoyable week but we wouldn’t go back in it’s current state.

"The setting of the property is sublime, with a beautifully kept garden sweeping down to the lake."
We enjoyed the peaceful restful week we had needed. Great to have such a lovely bathroom (with bath) and access to responsive attention when needed. Many thanks .

"Property needs new carpets."
General cleaning around windows. And outside the entrance. We did have a wonderful stay. And it was very quiet which we enjoyed.
-
"Absolutely brilliant place to stay."
Amazing views peaceful, relaxing. Bed very comfortable, stunning bathroom large walk in shower loads of hot water. Allocated parking space and private sitting area with table and two chairs we sat outside had dinner looking at the lake . Have already recommended this accommodation to our family and friends .

"This property was very clean and tidy."
We were happy with the layout, it was as expected from your description. Would happily go again.

"First class location for a peaceful, relaxing break."
Set in its own grounds & able to walk down to and around Lake Thirlmere if you want to. The on site restaurant only able to provide a breakfast currently (first week in October 2021), due lack of staff....sure that will be temporary though. Thirlmere Suite has its own kitchen facilities of course. May mean finding eating places, but as we went out every day....regardless of Lake District weather.....that was not a problem. Just 6 miles from centre of Keswick. All good. Selsey Duo

"View of the lake."
Comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen. Great place for serious walkers. Routes to Helvellyn from the door.

"The accommodation wasn't quite as listed and this made a big difference to our stay."
The 'private' terrace wasn't private as there was an adjoining suite which used the same area. This also meant that when you opened the main curtains they could walk past which meant the room wasn't private either. There was also a locked door that led from our room into the hotel, which wasn't used and made us feel a bit uncomfortable. Unfortunately we thought the suite was separate from the hotel but it wasn't and the walls were very thin which meant we heard a lot of noise from above and to the side of us. The cleanliness was also not up to standard, especially as they currently have more time to clean due to covid. There were stains on the towels, dead bug marks on the wall, stains on the carpet and hairs in the bath. The bathroom was also not finished, the ceiling wasn't painted and there was a tile missing on the wall. This room has an incredible view which is brilliant but the overall quality of the room did not meet our expectations or the price we paid.

"The WLAN connection was partly poor."
Nowadays internet access is very important because a lot of bookings can only be done online. Further it was an open access which is based on security measures questionable. Improvement urgent necessary. The suite itself was nice with new fitted (not complete - seal was not painted, no aeration ventilation, no electric shaver point) bathroom. Kitchen equipment was ok but only one coffee mug for two. Improvement possible. Very nice location and very friendly helpful staff.

"Both bathroom and kitchen needed extractor fans."
-
"Lovely flat, superb view, friendly service."
-
"Hotel owner was lovely, nothing too much trouble, loads of advice about the area and places to visit."
Would definitely return. Fabulous location as well as accommodation.
-
"We stayed for a week and the apartment was splendid but would be greatly improved if there was a change of towels or access to a washing machine in the week."
It is a lovely apartment in a great location.
-
"It would have been useful to have hooks in the kitchen to hang tea/hand towels."
The frying pan had lost its non stick and had a build up of charcoal on its surface so not used. Plus one wooden spatular which had a split in it and probably harbouring bacteria. Otherwise the cottage was very clean and comfortable and we would not hesitate to return.
