  • "Comfortable warm cottage."

Well positioned for an enjoyable holiday

  • "The property was excellent, and spotlessly clean."

Everything worked perfectly. When the temperature dropped outside, the heating clicked in just nicely. My only maintenance feedback is that the inside front door needs a small squirt of WD40 on the hinges

Many thanks for the helpful feedback Robert- the WD 40 has now been applied! Property Owner

  • "Super holiday home with great views of the fells."

Warm and cosy. The welcome ‘pack’ of birdseed was used on the bird table which was visited by flocks of woodland birds during our stay. Lovely! We would stay here again, but next time would bring washing up liquid, bin bags, kitchen roll and foil (as not provided). The garden would benefit from more love, as picking up the previous tenants’ dog faeces was not a good first impression, neither was the overgrown brambles and grass, which diminished an otherwise pleasant spot. Chapel Stile is a hidden gem of the Lake District, with great local Pubs (Wainwright Inn and Britannia Inn) within short walks from the property. Friendly local Co-op in the village with Cafe above for breakfast and lunch- everything you need pre and post walks. For those with arthritic knees or dogs, walks in either direction to Elterwater or the Langdale valley (to Dungeon Ghyll) are manageable with superb views.

Dear Julie, Thank you so much for your lovely and positive feedback. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay and are considering coming back. However, I'm sorry to hear that some essentials were missing during your stay, such as washing-up liquid, bin bags, kitchen roll, and foil. These are items we always aim to provide for our guests, so I will be speaking with our cleaner to ensure this oversight doesn’t happen again. Please accept my sincere apologies for this inconvenience. I also appreciate you bringing the condition of the garden to our attention. We recently discovered that the previous gardener had not been attending regularly. With all the rain we've been having, the grass has been growing quickly. Unlike our neighbours, who benefit from the local sheep helping to manage their gardens, ours is fenced off, so the sheep can’t get in to help with the mowing. However, I'm pleased to inform you that we now have a new gardener who will be attending twice a month to keep everything in order. Thank you again for your feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon! Property Owner

  • "Everything are good except for loud creaky floorboards, which will wake you up at night and lastly don't look under the beds because it dirty, like previous guess leaving tissues, etc."

Hi Bryan, Thank you for your positive feedback and for letting us know that you enjoyed your stay at Fellside View. I’m glad to hear that you had a good experience overall. Regarding the creaky floorboards on the landing outside the bathroom, we appreciate your understanding. Unfortunately, resolving this issue would require pulling up the floorboards and carpet, which isn't something we can address immediately. However, it is on our list of future improvements. I’m also sorry to hear about your experience of finding tissues under the bed. I have spoken with the cleaner, and the issue has been rectified. Moving forward, we will ensure that under the beds are cleaned regularly to prevent this from happening again. Thank you once again for your kind words. They are very much appreciated. • "The garden was unkempt with a dead tree and foot high grass."

As the property takes dogs we did not use the grass area to sit in. The Smart TV has no reception for live channels (no Freeview or Freesat). The floors upstairs were very creaky and the doors upstairs would not stay shut. The beds were comfortable and the property was very clean. It would have been useful to have instructions on how to unlock the induction hob which was locked when we arrived!

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased that the property was clean and the bedding comfy. We take all comments on board. We will take a look at the listing to ensure that the information provided is correct. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "When we arrived the power had been off, and continued to fail with power outages."

Also thick dust and cobwebs on light fittings. Sticky marks on windows and walls. The beds were comfortable and bathroom reasonably clean although very dusty on door , brocken door angle on twin room, so would not close properly. This was a Christmas week and not one single decoration to make Christmas guests welcome.

Dear Jeanie Please accept my sincere apologies for the issues you encountered during your stay at Fellside View. The electricity problem was indeed a local issue with the power grid beyond our control, but I understand how inconvenient it must have been for you. Regarding the cleanliness problems you mentioned, please know that we take this matter very seriously. I've already escalated it to the booking company and our cleaning team for immediate resolution. We sincerely apologise for any discomfort this may have caused you. Thank you for sharing your feedback about the Christmas decorations. We acknowledge that this was overlooked in our first year of letting the property, and it's something we will prioritise for the next Christmas season. We truly regret that your experience was not entirely positive, and we hope that you'll consider visiting us again. Your feedback is invaluable to us in ensuring a better experience for our guests in the future. Property Owner

  • "The house was beautiful & clean."

Exactly what we needed for a walking stay. The front garden was perfect & enclosed for the dog. The beds were so comfy! I meant to find out what mattresses they were! Although the car charger kept tripping the switch so would only charge the car 5%at a time??? Tiny, tiny things (that didn’t ruin the stay) the windows were a bit dirty & the handheld shower wasn’t attached?? Thank you x

Many thanks for your lovely and helpful feedback. We will look into the fault you have identified with the car charger (it may be that it can only handle certain makes of car which recharge at a slow rate) and will get the windows cleaned. The hand-held shower can be swapped with the overhead fitting but this isn't very obvious so we will put something in the instruction book about it Property Owner

  • "Really bad squeaky floor in bedroom needs sorting, hard to go to the toilet in the night without waking your other half."

The house had everything you could want, but I would suggest emptying one of the cupboards so you can store your groceries. Can’t believe I am complaining about too much stuff in the cupboards, when it’s normally the opposite, lol. The view from the front is beautiful & we loved the birds, they descended as soon as we put seed out. Normally it’s sparrows that dominate our feeders not Chaffinches & Goldfinches. The walk across the road to the river is lovely and quiet. It was perfect timing for us, before the campsite opened up for the year. You can walk over to Wainwrights pub or grab a drink & lunch at the Britannia Inn at the end of the walk to Elterwater, which you can walk too directly from the house. Local small co-op in the village with a cafe above which is open until 3pm, as we were only on a short break we never got to visit so can’t comment on the food. But both pubs mentioned had a lovely menu. On reflection it is somewhere we would happily return too.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you back again soon. Many thanks for the helpful feedback. Property Owner

We really enjoyed the views and the dogs loved sniffing around the front garden. The electric car charger was a great facility enabling us to have our first long distance trip in our EV. Nice that the property has been set up with solar/battery/heat pump.
