  • "Cottage was ideally situated for walks from the door, with lovely views and so peaceful and good parking."

Very comfortable and so well equipped. Only problem could see is visiting in colder weather and having to wait for storage heaters to warm up.

  • "It would be helpful if the listing mentioned the freezer in the garage."

It would be even better if the freezer could be relocated to the kitchen. There was enough space in the master bedroom to have a bigger bed, which would be welcome. The spiral staircase was solid and felt secure. The sofas were comfortable and t in general the space was well planned - the dining table is extendable. It took some time to find certain items in the kitchen, such as the cafetière, which was inexplicably hidden at the back of a cupboard whist teapots were out on the counter. It is a shame that the lovely view from the front is partially blocked by the roof of the house in front. We enjoyed lovely walks along the river and on the fells.

  • "We have stayed before and it suits us, but possibly not everyone as there are several stairs to climb and it has no garden just a patch at the front with nice view."

Handy for walks from the door, a good Co-op and good pub/eatery within short walking distance.

  • "Easy to find, parking was no problem, access was easy."

The house is in a lovely location, opposite Bays Brown Farm and Campsite. Not a great view from the window as it looks on to other houses but you don't have to go far to get a good view up the valley. We had to go around the house as soon as we arrived, to turn on heaters, hot water and appliances, which was a bit of a pain. The house is somewhat dated but comfortable and well-supplied, although a spare toilet roll would have been welcome. The house was clean but the black mould in the grout in the shower could do with some treatment.

  • "The property is generally good and as described."

Two things were not good:- There was no information or facilities for recycling which is not acceptable. The lighting in the lounge/dining room was dim - we were not able to read in the evening.

  • "Absolutely wonderful, real home from home."

I am 83 and didn’t have any trouble with spiral stairs , in fact I loved them. Kitchen wonderfully equipped, my daughter in law and I amused the grandchildren showing things we grew up with. I have stayed in many self catering houses and rate this as one of the best. I was wheeled into village and to the amazing river. Had to have help with footrest but so comfortable. We all had a great time such a good centre . We all hope to return. Thank you very much indeed. GREAT

  • "The condition of the property was not as good as stated in the information provided."

I slept in the ground floor bedroom. It was very damp. I left a jacket on the chair overnight and it was wet the next morning. All of the accessible areas of the cottage were satisfactory but the corners and out of reach areas had not been cleaned for a long time. The kitchen cupboards were very cluttered with too many items, not all useful. The holiday was enjoyable as the cottage is in one of our favourite Lake District destinations.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of the issues that you experienced during your stay, had we been made aware during you stay, we would have attended to resolve. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "The cottage was beyond our expectations."

It looks that it's recently refurbished. All kitchen appliances and tools are available. The cottage also provides TV and collection of board games to enjoy your time. It has a wonderful view on green hills of Lake District. We'd like to re-visit Mellbreak cottage again.

  • "The Cottage was very comfortable and in an excellent location."

It was within a very short walking distance of the village shop and Wainwrights pub. The only improvement would be the addition of a blackout blind in the twin bedroom. We will be returning.

  • "The house is lovely and had everything we needed for the week."

Everything was well explained in the folder. The property was clean and comfortable my favourite chair was the one in the main bedroom looking out the window at the fabulous back drop. The only thing and it’s a small thing was the freezer it kept over freezing and had no shelves so things fell out when I opened it. However we loved the house and location so much we have rebooked for next year.

  • "The property had some cob webs plus the seal around the bath was needing attention and had evidence of mould on large sections."

However, it had everything we asked for, the sofas in particular were very comfortable. The location was central to where we wanted to be and we were delighted.

  • "The house is in a fantastic location, Chapel Stile is beautiful with several walks available on your doorstep."

Parking was an issue, as other residents don't stick to their parking area meaning some days we had nowhere to park. We certainly couldn't have parked 2 cars as suggested! The house was very well equipped, all cooking equipment you would ever need provided. We were disappointed that there was no milk, tea bags, sugar, etc provided. We've never been anywhere without these, a lot of places we have stayed in have even provided biscuits or cake before. There was a tshirt left in a drawer from a previous resident suggesting a lack of cleaning in some areas. There were also a lot of cobwebs in the downstairs bedroom between the bed and bedside drawer, and also at the bottom of the staircase, and the small drawers down there were also very dusty. I think the location makes up for the shortcomings though, and I would recommend it.

  • "A great cottage in an excellent location."

Our main suggestion for improvement would be to please get better pillows - they were all extremely thin and unsupportive. Also please provide info on recycling - we ended up taking ours home with us Apart from that the cottage had everything we needed and we had a lovely week, thanks. Especially good cooking equipment and also good facilities for drying wet clothes - really useful.
