"Orchard cottage is a perfect retreat in the beautiful Troutbeck valley."
Ideally positioned, and within walking distance of The Queens Head and Troutbeck Post office and tearooms, both are great for food and the latter a hub for locals and visitors alike. The cottage is traditional and well presented ensuring it’s old worldly charm is retained. The bedrooms are simply furnished and have exceptionally comfy beds! The floors are a little uneven upstairs so watch your step when walking uphill or downhill to bed ( we just giggled avery night!)
Thank you Clare for your valued review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and had a good giggle before a comfy nights sleep. We hope you will visit again in future. Regards Denise Property Owner

"Lovely cottage however I wouldn’t recommend because the administrative support around the rental was so poor."
Replies to our requests for the key code never came, or came long after our booking was supposed to have started. After a long time on the phone we managed to get the key code. Considering that it is January and there can’t be many other customers I would hate to see how bad things were in peak season. A snow shovel is a random item that would have made a huge difference. There is a slight incline to the drive and we had to dig out the snow and grit it so we could confidently drive off. Not something I would have thought of before this experience, but seems like they get a bit of snow fairly regularly in the winter so might be good to keep by.
Thank you for your valued feedback. We are so happy that as our first guests you found the cottage lovely. We are sorry it was necessary to phone for the key code and this arrangement has now been changed and rectified. Thank you for the great idea of providing a snow shovel and grit, we have taken this on board and plan to implement it going forward. Property Owner

About the location
TROUTBECK
Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.
The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life.
