The house is very spacious, well equipped and well maintained. The beds are extremely comfortable, which we especially appreciated after walking on the fells. We had a great week's holiday here, and were sorry to leave it when it was time to return home!

  • "The old coach house is a fantastic place for a large family get together ."

Very comfortable and spacious. Fabulous views from all the bedrooms . The house is very homely and welcoming . May I suggest a television in the living room as the ‘playroom’ feels like a playroom and not a particularly appealing place to spend an evening. Also the sofas in the living room aren’t very comfortable and are a bit tired looking . Also it would be helpful if there was a house information folder . There was only medical access info and rubbish collection. Didn’t know where the recycling went. Other than these issues we had a really good week. And the sun shone !

.second time we've stayed so we must like it. Small thing but handled very well. A roof tile had come loose in high winds requiring some scaffolding to repair. It was only there for one day...the workmen were very good...and 2 bottles of champagne as compensation were very welcome.

We wanted a property with lots of space and that is what we got!. If anything the photographs on the website don't do the property justice and that's a rare thing. Minor issue with heating/hot water fixed very promptly.

Great location and the garden was perfect for our dog. The house was spotlessly clean (thanks to Jose). The facilities were good, beds super comfortable, but remember to take your own t-towels and bath sheets, if needed) The WiFi was good in most of the house. Overall, a place we would definitely book again,

  • "What a wonderful, family holiday and a fantastic property."

The Old Coach House was absolutely perfect for us (6 adults, 2 children, an infant and a dog!) - so spacious, well equipped, cosy and homely. A beautiful family home in a fantastic location. We stayed during the week of all the snow in Cumbria and got snowed in which we found great fun, making snowmen with the children. There was a brief power outage due to the snow one evening, but the owner rang within a couple of minutes to reassure us and point us in the direction of things we needed eg candles, extra blankets. I can’t praise this property enough!

  • "A lovely house, with large rooms and a great decor."

The only instructions were generic ones from Lakelovers. They could have been phrased in a little more friendly fashion. There was a lack of specific information about the property. For example that the hot water was off and needing switching on. I had a cold shower the first morning.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay, and found the decor to your liking. We will look at the instructions left in the property to see if they need to be changed. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Extremely comfortable stay for five adults, one baby and one dog."

Plenty of room for all with large comfortable beds in specious well appointed rooms. There were three bathrooms upstairs, one ensuite, plus a downstairs cloakroom. The house is obviously very loved by it's owners and they have equipped the home to a very high standard. If you love quality natural materials you will be pleasantly rewarded with the use of stone and oak. Best of all was the location. Stunning views from every angle. A lovely little walk up to the Mortal Man pub using the path behind the church. We enjoyed the walk back down looking at the interesting little village. The garden is a mature treat. We were blessed with perfect weather early in June and I found myself just sitting and gazing at the gorgeus environment. Only slight downside is the poor Wifi coverage. A booster here and there might help. Although there is a vast supply of maps and tourist information in the house some local hints and tips and general house information would have been a nice to have. Thank you for providing the makings of a lovely family get together and holiday.

Thank you for your kind comments. It is lovely to read that you enjoyed the views. We take all comments on board. We hope to welcome you again. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Great accommodation."

.lovely location only problem..if there was a fire there is only one exit..the front door! There were no keys for the other doors in the property. Is that legal?

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. The rear exits from the lounge and the kitchen which are patio doors lead to the patio and should have keys. The main front door which is classed as the main escape door is fitted with a keyless exit in line with expectation. We will check with the owner to ensure that the rear doors can be accessed. *UPDATE: There are keys to the external doors.* We hope to welcome you back. NB. To be clear there is a brass key on the key ring left in the key box and this is for the second lock on the front door and every other external door to the house. Property Owner

We were disappointed not to have any garden furniture for our Easter week, especially as the weather was glorious. The pillows were uncomfortable and the bath towels were definitely on the small side. My teenage kids found it frustrating that the wifi only worked in 1 bedroom and not in all rooms downstairs, including the games room.

House requires booster for WiFi - especially in office . Was to be holiday were I could work. Ended up loosing two days as had to return home. Wasps nest in roof above toilet in en-suite. No problem with wasps but needs to be fixed. Fans in en-suite and shower room did not work. Bath towels too small. Shower turn on in shower room very difficult as some times would turn shower on sometimes not. Requires fixing.gardener turned up on Thursday. We did not know he was coming. Went straight into garden did not ring door bell or check with us before starting work. He had his dog with him and just let it run around garden. This set our dog of barking . Took our dog out on lead to meet the gardener dog but it showed our dog it’s teeth. Said to gardener I was not really happy with this situation and he agreed to come back the next day when we had left.

About the location

TROUTBECK

Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
