"Absolutely cosy little place, really handy as a wonderful base, kitchen fully equipped."
The log burner was very welcoming after being out all day, hope to come again. Lin, Steve and Scruffy the Sprollie x

"The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped."
Fantastic views from the rear of the property. We ate out at The Maypole in Long Preston and The Talbot Arms in Settle, both excellent meals. Steep stairs to the first floor might hinder the less mobile. Problem with access to the WiFi was resolved the day after our arrival. There wasn't any welcome pack so we were unsure of what procedures to follow at the end of our stay. As mentioned in previous reviews, the only drawback is that the property is on the busy A65, and despite a 30mph speed limit through the village, no-one seems to adhere to it! I didn't pick up on this as I booked last minute, it might be advisable to make this clearer in the property description.

"Lovely clean and well equipped, comfortable bed cosy feel to it."
Beautiful view from the back and patio area. Great location for exploring north Yorkshire was more than happy with my holiday
-
"We had great time in this cottage, very spacious & clean."
Near to all walks we went on. Fantastic views. Great pub food with friendly welcome only 7 minute walk away. Would highly recommend & will revisit in future with different plans

"Perfect place to stay location wise."
Property has everything that you need and is well kept and clean. Only issues is the very busy road. Hosts has done their best to mitigate the noise but there is no getting away from it just outside you window.
-
"This is a great place to stay other than the road noise which is horrendous."
The cottage is well fitted out and was one of the cleanest we had stayed in and everything worked as it should. I would say if you struggle sleeping then this isn’t the place for you , would benefit from triple glazing upstairs .

"Hi. Overall we had a great stay in the Yorkshire."
Cottage 3 Guys is clean and beds are comfortable. Big + it's a fireplace. The biggest issue, not only with 3 guys but also, with most of the hire cottages it's lack of tumble dryer . Very handy to have in the autumn and winter months when you want to dry your clothes fast. V close to main road but traffic wasn't that bad over the Christmas holidays. Location convenient for exploring Yorkshire dales. Will recommend. Thanks

Really nice views out the back not happy about the front very busy rd and quite noisey also was not happy with shared entry at back and steep stairs to bedrooms apart from that had a enjoyable stay but would not choose that property again

"We had a wonderful holiday In the Yorkshire Dales."
The weather was fine and we were out all day walking On the positive side the cottage was spotlessly clean and we had everything we needed in the kitchen The views from the back were amazing The private parking was a bonus as was the patio The living room was comfortable and spacious enough for two people, as was the bathroom The central heating was easy to operate On the negative side the cottage was right on the busy A65 road where at times the fast moving articulated lorries were passing from 5am It was very noisy whilst relaxing in the living room at the front but at night we slept in the back bedroom which was fine This is not the owners fault and they have already fitted new windows and door The stairs were very steep and it was inconvenient going to the downstairs bathroom at night and it could prove difficult for anyone with even a slight mobility problem The kitchen/ diner might be a bit small for four people as the table would need to be pulled away from the wall Saying all this, it was a lovely place to stay and we would certainly go back again Thank you

"Very warm, welcoming and clean cottage with everything we needed for our short stay."
Views out the back were stunning! The chap in the local farm shop was really friendly and gave me some good tips on where to take the kids, not forgetting the lovely bacon and sausage he was selling. I've seen negative feedback regarding it being next to a busy road but we didn't notice it that much because we were out all day exploring, so by the time we got back the road had quietened down. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a very pleasant stay..

"All very good ,clean house, lovely view ,good pubs definitely go back"
-
"This was a beautiful cottage , and the views from the back garden are amazing."
But we was not told that this was a walk through garden ...we have a dog so we should have been made aware of this . But apart from this the cottage was brilliant and we will definitely return.
-
"The location was absolutely brilliant."
Even the neighbours were very nice and friendly. House was a quick drive to everything and having a smart TV definitely helped. Beds were comfortable and all amenities were present. Would love to return!

"The cottage itself was lovely, clean, well equipped and tastefully furnished."
However more honesty is needed in the description of the location. This cottage is situated on a very busy noisy A road. It was impossible to have a bedroom window open at night and the noise and roar of lorries was ever present. Nice cottage but read the other reviews it is on a main road not that relaxed and quiet if that is what you’re seeking.
Thank you for your feedback, acoustic glass windows have been fitted in the bedroom and living to eliminate noise. A new door fitted in the next couple of weeks. Property Owner

"Not a comfortable cottage."
Next to A65 and very noisy compounded by laminate floors throughout. This also meant that neighbours could hear conversations - causing a degree of animosity with the neighbour at the end of the terrace. Boiler came on in the middle of the night And the oven and cooker needed cleaning. Shower was good. Not at all impressed would never go again - it was a relief to leave.
Thank you for your feedback. It is a pet friendly holiday cottage in the Yorkshire Dales mainly catering for hikers and a laminate floor is used to facilitate cleaning. There has been a new boiler fitted in March 2021 so there are no current issues with the boiler. Property Owner

"Perfect cottage for a base for walking the three peaks."

"Lovely cottage in a great location in the Yorkshire Dales."
Very warm and comfortable. We enjoyed the great views from the terrace in the back.

"The locstion on a very busy main road resulted in us cutting our stay sort and only remaining for three of a 7 day rental."
We also experienced complaints from No4 reagrding the car parking faciity which apparently was space designated a fact not passed to us. We were also ccused of inappropriately usig someone No4 refuse bin which we categorially dispute. In general although the cottage was clean and tidy the evel of comfort in the sitting room left much to be desired although all facilities were in place. I would not reccomend this property as suitable for more than a couple of days. However Sykes cottages as a company were impeccable providing good levels of information whih was always timely.

"2nd visit to the cottage so new what to expect."
the weather was good, only rained 1 half day. Cottage well presented and clean. Nice pub a short walk away, felt very safe there and the food excellent. The road outside the front is very busy but the view from the back makes up for that and you can walk through the village to the pub and post office via the back pathways
-
"Gorgeous cottage with an outstanding view."
Extremely clean and comfortable. Noise issue resolved with an excellent noise reduction window in the bedroom. Close to Settle, Malham and Skipton for days out.
-
"It's worth noting in the listing that the house is on a main road."
It wasn't a big deal for us, but it might be for somebody else. Lorries etc go by in the night and make a reasonable amount of noise. Totally unavoidable by the owner, but it's still worth making it clear in the listing.
-
"Lovely cottage, exactly as shown."
A very high standard of facilities and in these strange times, super clean you knew you were safe there. Thank you

"Cottage stairs were quite steep so wouldn't recommend if anyone has mobility issues."
Apart from that the cottage was excellent & booking was easy & quick

"Guys cottage is perfectly situated to discover both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District."
Skipton has all of the usual high street shops and the beautiful Castle. However, parking there becomes quite expensive. We preferred visiting Settle which is a smaller town retaining more of its rural charm whilst been closer to Guys cottage. Guys cottage was very clean and comfortable and has stunning views across the rear patio towards Pendle Hill (famous for the Pendle witches). Board games were provided in the lounge along with a large television that had Netflix installed (used our own subscription). The bedrooms were cosy and very comfortable, and the bathroom had a fantastic power shower. Our only concern was the volume of traffic passing the front of the property (particularly large lorries from early morning to late in the evening). However, I don’t want to dwell on this too much as we live in a particularly quiet location anyway. We may of been over sensitive to the traffic. In summary we enjoyed our stay and would re visit. We found lots of other things that we could of done in the area if we were staying longer (particularly the MTB trails at Gisburn Forest).
Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted to advise that the owners have acted on your feedback regarding noise that can sometimes be heard from outside and have just fitted an accoustic window in the front bedroom to cut out noise. This will have a positive impact on any future stay at 3 Guys Cottages and the owners look forward to seeing you again soon. Property Owner

"This was overall an excellent cottage."
Road a bit noisy Also pillows on single beds were very flat - new pillows needed I think otherwise bed very comfy. Windows up stairs locked and no key - feel this could be a fire hazard as no exit in the event of fire. Apart from those comments cottage very well equipped , clean and fab view from patio.

"It was not immediately easy to find out how to get to the back door as the "path" crossed the gardens of no 1 and no 2 and went right by their windows so we thought they were private."
However, we figured it out!

"Warm, clean, comfortable, well equipped cottage."
Only thing missing was a cafetiere. Had some difficulty finding it: would suggest pointing out that access to parking is via Tranmere Court turn off from A65. Parking then clearly marked and cottage in middle of row with keysafe at the back.

"We stayed at the 3 Guys Cottage for a week in early August."
This was such a lovely, homely place to stay with a really beautiful view of a field grazed by sheep. The cottage is very well maintained and had everything we needed (and more) for our stay, including a good selection of family games; DVDs and books (for those quiet nights in). For those with teenagers (or anyone who might be interested to know) Netflix is also pre-installed on the TV, so those with an account can enjoy this too (as our son did on occasions). The living room is cosy and just big enough for a family of 4 (there were 3 of us staying and we had plenty of space!). If like us, you do not have a downstairs bathroom, it might take a couple of days to get use to this - but it by no means spoiled our stay. The stairs leading up to the bedrooms may be a little steep for older people (or a bit of a challenge after a long day walking!) but the bedrooms themselves are very cosy and of an ample size for our little family. The smaller room has a great view! Long Preston is a great base for getting about in North Yorkshire. We visited several places during our stay at 3 Guys; and found the cottage location really convenient for all our day trips. Its also great having allocated parking, so there's no worries about finding a parking spot at the end of a busy day exploring. We always entered and exited the property from the back door as this is closer to the parking area and gave us an excuse to admire the beautiful landscape. The cottage is on a stretch of road leading out of town. Occasionally, we did hear traffic passing by, but this is less frequent at night and did not bother us at all during our stay. The cottage is near two Inns, both within easy walking distance from door to door. Both have a fair choice of food on their respective menus and are equally as friendly and welcoming. If you don't mind travelling a bit further, there are plenty of places to stop and eat along the road to Skipton (and Skipton itself is a big bustling town with an abundance of restaurants to suit all tastes). The small town of Settle (in the opposite direction) is also great for food places. We particularly enjoyed stopping off at 'Ye Olde Naked Man' Cafe for breakfast and lunch - and is well worth a visit when you come to North Yorkshire. We visited Settle during its flowerpot show, and it was quite fun walking around spotting the different flowerpot people that the locals had created and put on display - and is worth a visit during July and August just for that! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 3 Guys Cottage, it definitely offered that home-from-home experience. We would absolutely come back to Long Preston and 3 Guys Cottage without hesitation.

About the location
LONG PRESTON
Settle 4 miles; Malham 4 miles; Skipton 12 miles.
Long Preston is an attractive Yorkshire Dales village in Ribblesdale, twelve miles from Skipton (popularly known as the 'Gateway to the Dales'), four miles from Settle. To the north, the landscape rises to the fells, moors and picturesque valleys of the Dales; to the south are the wetlands of the Ribble Valley which, in turn, sweep upward to the magnificent wilderness of Bowland. The village benefits from several large, tree lined, village greens, with footpaths leading direct to the surrounding hills, and it also boasts two excellent pubs with first rate cuisine. The railway station on the edge of the village provides access to the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway line which crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Nearby Settle is a bustling market town with a weekly market, the centre being dominated by the Shambles, an historic 3-storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool.
Note: One well-behaved dog welcome, to be kept downstairs and not to be left unattended at any time in the property.
