  • "We had a very enjoyable holiday in Bump and Bend, what a beautiful little property!"

    We didn't use the car at all once we arrived, there was a bus service just outside the cottage which took us everywhere we needed to go. I would suggest slippers to be taken as the rules are no shoes to be worn in the cottage. We are certainly going to use Sykes Cottages again!

The property

Come morning, grab your walking boots, and begin your itinerary full of nature-filled activities, starting off by a stroll around Holehird Gardens and its pretty blooms, or maybe venture towards Hodge Howe Watersports Centre, with the chance to take to the water for a spot of kayaking, sailing, or canoeing.

Windermere is a short journey away, bustling with attractions, including the Windermere Jetty Museum - Stories of boats and steam and The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, perfect to visit as a family before travelling north towards Ambleside, where you can opt for an underground tour at Rydal Cave, take in the breath-taking landscape of Stock Ghyll Force, or enjoy a heritage-rich visit to either The Bridge House, or Rydal Mount & Gardens.

Across the national park you'll also find some of the greatest vantage points, including Claife Heights, Latterbarrow, and Orrest Head Viewpoint, all recommended to discover on your travels.
