  • "Lovely well appointed accommodation, very light and airy, and good sized bedrooms."

It’s only slightly let down by limited cooking utensils and pan selection, such as a lot of frying pans and a wok, but no standard & large pans. Would happily to rebook this lodge in the future.

Thankyou Janet for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed staying at our Family Lodge. I will take on board your comments about the Pans & cooking utensils. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful lodge perfectly located at the end of the street, very peaceful."

Unfortunately no views of the lake some of the pictures portray due to additional lodges and trees in the way. However this lodge is not on ground floor so does give some sense of privacy and better views. The kitchen was well equipped and heating was available to use should you need it. Unfortunately the kitchen handles were sticky and therefore needed a wipe down but overall very clean place. You get access to one car parking space right outside your lodge but take note you do have 20 steps to climb (as stated in the description as advertised) The bathrooms unfortunately had a horrible smell coming from the drains, was quite unbearable and we had no way of directly contacting management to get this fixed immediately. The mattresses & pillows in the bedroom are non existent, you just sink into it. The mattresses are well overdue a replacement. We did not sleep well at all. There is little to no wifi so i wouldnt come with the expectation of having access to the wifi. EE network worked quite well O2 was hit and miss. You only get one toilet roll for the stay per bathroom so make sure you bring your own or alternatively you can buy locally. Its a shame there were no recycling facilities for your rubbish, this should be a must for all lodges/accommodation in this day and age. Overall we had a pleasant stay its just unfortunate the bathroom and bedroom mattresses let us down.

  • "Great, roomy lodge, with excellent facilities and in a really good location for the site but let down a little by the housekeeping."

As with all Sykes cottages, I get the impression the housekeeping team are not given enough time to do their job properly. In this case, everything had been shoved in cupboards rather than put away neatly (saucepans and frying pans literally thrown in a pile), duvet covers were not buttoned and one was stained. Overall, cleaning was superficial (eg very dirty behind toilet seat hinges). Also, there were lots of knives, but mainly bread knives and not one sharp knife suitable for chopping vegetables. Note for future guest - there is a filter coffee machine, but you may need filters. The cafetiere doesn't work! Finally, there was a new, large Smart TV, but the wifi didn't work all week - this seems to be a problem that has been going on for years with no solution! It is not acceptable to have to use your own phone data when it is advertised as having wifi.

The WiFi which the site was updating is now directly linked to our Lodge and working so the temporary unavailabity should now not be an issue. The cafetiere is actually a milk frother rather than a cafetiere . As the owner I can only apologise if you found the cleaning and cupboard layout not as you would have liked. We take a pride in ensuring it is clean and well presented and as such visited the Lodge following your feedback to check it fully. Thankyou for your feedback as it helps us ensure we provide a high standard at all times. Property Owner

  • "WiFi is not working at all."

WiFi connection seems to be part of the whole site setup. Checked with reception but nothing they could do about this. So if you expected to have any WiFi connection for your holiday, stay away from this one. Also the welcome pack booklet is non-existence. Just have to know everything what you do when you get in! Other than that the cottage is clean and comfortable.

As owners who pride themselves in our Lodge facilities & standard we are sorry you experienced a problem with the WiFi. The site is replacing the WIFI and unknown to us, in advance, it has caused significant issues in the last two weeks as they undergo this transformation. Previously there had been free Park WiFi available. Even now the Park WiFi is also accessible in the main Park areas as this is a different connection. Unfortunately we have been unable to advise you of this as we were not aware until contacted by Sykes after both yourselves & the previous people had left. We have been advised that the new WIFI will be rolled out across Whitecross Bay site w.c 3.10.22 including to our Lodge. I am sorry you have been badly affected by WIFI connectivity but as you can see from all the previous excellent feedback this is a recent occurance where the WiFi has caused considerable disruption for people and something which we haven't actively avoided telling people as we werent aware in advance, this problem should be alleviated during w.c 3.10.22. • "This is a lovely, well equipped lodge in a great location."

It was very quiet due to being located at the end of a row. We purchased entertainment passes and used the pool facilities a few times. The swimming pool and changing facilities should be bigger for the amount of guests but we still enjoyed it. My only complaint is that the WiFi didn’t worked for our entire stay. There was a smart tv but it was a bit useless without it. I would give 4.5 stars if possible. We would return.

Sorry you experienced problems with the Wifi, after contacting the site it would seem recent storms were responsible for taking some of the masts down in the Lake District and the site is working to correct this . Glad you loved our Lodge. We work hard as the owners to make sure you have a good experience and a happy holiday as we would want Property Owner

The lodge itself was beautiful, comfortable and everything needed was provided. As it was the end lodge you also felt you had some privacy which was lovely in the evenings/mornings on the terrace. A short walk to the end of the road and you were on the lakeside with all it’s beautiful views! Everything you need for your stay. Dishwasher wasn’t working and front door problem but great stay and would recommend. Unhappy on morning of leaving as the water went off. This was a problem with the site not the owners. We couldn’t wash or brush our teeth. Apparently it went off as they start filling the hot tubs on site creating the water issue. Was very unhappy with this issue as we didn’t have a hot tub to be filled up so should not have had this problem. Suggest you get up super early on the day of leaving before they start filling up

  • "Lovely Lodge."

Lots of space and well set up. Although on a largish complex, the position of the lodge is good being at the end of the road with nothing behind it, or on one side. We were lucky to find it as a last minute cancellation, and the lady at Lakes Cottages was really helpful.

We had an issue with the dishwasher, and this was dealt with very quickly. Being situated high up on the site meant that it was quiet. The pool facilities were excellent for the children with various activities apart from actual swimming.

  • "A fantastic lodge with everything that a family of 5 needs."

Having a dishwasher and a washer dryer is also a big plus! The lodge was extremely comfortable and spacious, well equipped and tastefully decorated. Excellent setting, high up and at the end of a row, which was very quiet and had a lovely view over the park. There were plenty of activities for the boys to do; we experienced swimming, water walkers, pool parties and the 2 play areas. It was a shame that the Outdoor n Explore Activities were not being run this week as we enjoyed them last year. We enjoyed Bingo Beats in the Boathouse during the evening too. All the staff were friendly and happy to help. Close enough to walk to Brockhole where there is also plenty to do and you can catch a boat there to take you to other places on Lake Windermere; we visited Wray Castle. This is the second time we have visited White Cross Bay and we have already booked to come back again next year.

  • "Great lodge in a fantastic location - at the end of a row so a relatively private pitch."

Lovely inside and out, spacious and good facilities in the kitchen. Contact with both Sykes and the lodge team was easy and helpful. Park has good facilities for a family using it as a base to explore the Lakes; 2 small playgrounds and a good pool. There was some confusion about when we could swim as different sessions were not well advertised initially, but once we'd worked that out we had good times swimming with our children. Reasonable food in the boat house, and a handy shop - although the stock is somewhat limited in it's range. Overall a good week away that we'd recommend and do again.
