  • "Another fantastic stay at this wonderful house."

It’s full of character and in a perfect position to explore the lakes. The bus stop outside means you don’t even have to drive. The owners are lovely and very helpful should you have any questions.

  • "Initial problem of accessing keys was quickly resolved by maintenance team."

Once inside property, boiler problem was resolved by owner via a phone call. Neither issue spoilt the lovely time we had at the Old House. We thought it was really quirky, with all the oak beams, flooring, doors and panelling. Enclosed garden ideal for our small dog Abbie. Furnishings, fittings and equipment were of very high quality. The owners have clearly made great efforts to make their guests comfortable and we would be very happy to visit again.

We all loved it. There is nothing that we didn’t like actually. Highly recommended.

We're delighted that you loved the cottage and had a lovely stay in the Lakes. Thank you so much for taking time to give us your feedback; it is very much appreciated. • "The old House, was full of charm, vintage furniture, dark wooden beams from old ships."

The house itself had everything you needed and the kitchen was well equipped. The garden was nice and small, enough space to have a bbq with the family, relax with one of them rare sunny days in the lakes. The parking isn’t amazing and it really is difficult getting 2 cars up into the parking spaces provided which it states you are able to do, without damaging your car. If you are happy to leave your car there for a week, then use the amazing buses, which is right at the bottom of the road from the cottage, as you can get everywhere on them. Overall The Old House is a prefect location to get around and see all of the lakes.

Dear Kirsty, Many thanks for your feedback; it's very much appreciated. I think your assessment of the car parking is fair; there is room for one large vehicle and one smaller vehicle but reversing into the smaller parking space can be awkward. We are therefore updating the information on the website to explain this better. There are also additional parking spaces in the bays on the main road opposite The Old House as a back up if needed. Thanks again for your feedback, I'm delighted you had a lovely stay and we would love you to come again in the future! All the best, Chris and Rich Property Owner

  • "The property is slightly ‘unpolished’ but brimming with character and charm."

Great location with walks from the door. Parking is not for the faint hearted if you have two cars as we did. A garden table and chairs would have been welcome, but it was enclosed and safe for our dog. Overall it was an excellent stay.

Gareth, many thanks for your feedback; we're delighted to you enjoyed your stay! On the parking, you're right! As you know there are two spaces, one that can accommodate a large vehicle and one small space for a smaller car but it can be awkward to reverse/manoeuvre into that one. We are updating the website to better explain this to future guests. There is additional parking in the bays on the main road opposite the Old House but again, this needs to be explained. Thanks for your feedback on this. I am very sorry you didn't benefit form the garden furniture. We had plenty of garden furniture which should have been in the garden when you arrived but it seems someone had locked it in the garden shed. We are making sure its available for guests in future! Many thanks again, and we hope you visit us again in the future! All the best, Chris and Rich Property Owner

  • "The only major problem we found was the local authority rubbish bins were full and smelling when we arrived and were still unemptied 7 days later when we left the cottage."

We had to make our own arrangements.

Geoffrey, many thanks for taking time to pass on your feedback; it's really helpful. I'm so sorry there was a problem with the waste bins and you were inconvenienced. We do rely on our guests to take the bins to the main road on collection days as this is the only way we can dispense of the rubbish. Sometimes it can be overlooked and we get the problem you have experienced . I think we have now put enough checks and balances in in place and a notice in the house just serve as a reminder to help with this in future. Thank you again for your feedback and I hope you could come and visit again in the future. All the best, Chris and Rich Property Owner

  • "Property was really unusual and in a great location."

Reported a few concerns during our stay which were dealt with promptly. Great to have an enclosed garden and private parking. House was well stocked with towels, bedding, mugs etc so we didn’t have to think about anything. Felt that the overall cleanliness and ongoing maintenance let it down slightly. Lots of cobwebs, dust, missing lightbulbs, dodgy light switches. We visited in April but the Christmas decorations were still up. The drain on the bath was blocked but we didn’t report it as we’d already reported a few things and felt like we were harassing the owners. Overall a great stay but ghe property could do with some TLC.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that we were able to resolve the issues. We will pass on your comments to the relevant teams. The lights that you refer to are not Christmas light but a feature at the property. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "We had a magical stay at the Old House."

It is the most beautiful house, with a few quirks that add to the character of the experience. It could have been a little bit cleaner (Dusty, ovens not very clean, cupboards not clean, fire full of ash). Still does not detract from a fabulous stay. We are looking forward to booking our stay for next year! Thank you so much!

Many thanks for sending through your feedback; it’s really appreciated. And thank you so much for the lovely note you left for us! We’re so glad you had a lovely time and enjoyed your stay. We apologise for missing these areas and thank you for letting us know about them. This is a newly let property and we are learning how long it takes to get everything completed during the changeover time. Your feedback is invaluable and will help us to get this right.
