  • "We did have a slight issue with the showers and I informed Lakelovers of this."

It didn't affect our stay at all. Bearing in mind this is a very popular rental, it's difficult to find a slot to manage all the little things. I always believe it's best to let the company/owners know of anything so that it can be attended to when possible. We are so lucky to have found such a suitable property. The availability of two lounges is brilliant and allows for "quiet time" when wanted.

  • "Beautiful setting for a holiday cottage."

Felldale has everything you need for a holiday. I actually found the sofas in the front lounge to be very comfortable although a tad challenging to get out off. And as others had said it is a bit worrying at first to see pale carpets in a dog friendly cottage, but this was not an actual issue. I did find the washing machine instructions totally baffling and an idiots guide to how to wash and dry a load would have been greatly appreciated, but that could just be me. All in all a great stay which I totally enjoyed, those views are just amazing. Thank you for letting us stay.

  • "Outstanding views and beautiful bungalow that sits well in its surroundings and we enjoyed our stay here for this alone."

It was however let down by the lack of comfort in the sofas which have seen better days and are difficult to get up from especially if you are of advancing years. There were a couple of cold nights whilst we were there and we found the bedding to be inadequate leaving us chilled. We couldn’t find the keys to the doors for the large room at the rear of the property and the back door in the utility area was awkward to open and then lock. Thank you for the welcome hamper, which was greatly appreciated and overall we did have a good week at this bungalow, which is lovely….

  • "We had a wonderful holiday at Felldale."

The cottage was in a beautiful area and the views where absolutely stunning. The only down sides to the cottage was that the leather setter in the front lounge area was not very comfy and needed to replaced as it was beyond its sell by date. It was also a shame that the lounge area at the back of the property was not very user friendly. It could do with a larger Tele and a more comfortable sitting area. The room was a stunning room and it seemed to be wasted. After saying all that we will be back next year.

No American style fridge freezer although this wasn't a deal breaker. Views are stunning and fire made a cozy evening

Secure to side of garage. Service power shower button as it falls off.

We will look into that when we are there in a couple of weeks. Very pleased you found our home excellent all round, did you see the red squirrels too? Best wishes, Simon and Sally Property Owner

  • "We did enjoy our stay very much."

Do feel some areas need a little TLC, utility room, shower rooms need a little up dating. Also did not find sofas very comfortable in front lounge especially if you have a bad back☹️ Beautiful home and fantastic views of the fells. Wonderful wild life.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Felldale."

It provides a stunning aspect across Deepdale and Patterdale. We were unlucky with the weather however, with the comfort and space we were still able to relax and enjoy our break. The proximity to a large variety of walks from a gentle stroll into Glenridding to bagging several Wainwrights at a time meant that making the most of the breaks in weather was easy. The property allowed for enjoying the sun in the garden and plenty of space for drying gear when needed. A great Lakeland location and property - thanks!!

So good to hear you enjoyed your stay, even if the weather was poor! Hope to welcome you back again soon, Simon and Sally Property Owner

  • "The Property and location with views was one of the very best I have ever stayed in if not the best."

I have been staying in the Lake District for many years so happy to give this a recommendation if you like your views and many walks from the doorstep. As it snowed so much this was perfect as didn't need to use the car at all. Thanks so much for Christmas Decorations a lot of places only do that really close to Christmas day so this was a nice surprise. David & Hayley

That’s lovely to hear. Very envious of the snow conditions, they were skiing on Raise! Have a great Christmas, best wishes, Simon and Sally Property Owner

We don’t do short break bookings, so you’d agreed to the full week rental, but only using for the weekend. We hope you had a fabulous time at your daughter’s wedding, in such a beautiful setting. Simon and Sally Property Owner

  • "The size of the cottage is perfect for a large family and well equipped with everything."

Great garden and large modern living room. the problem we had was purely the bathrooms, one had a broken seat which the company sorted the same day. I complained about the smell of the en-suite bathroom but the maintenance man said nothing would be done about that so we left it. Unfortunately the bathroom is internal and smells very unpleasant. We cleaned it thoroughly but the smell returned. the rest of the property was very clean but the bathroom smell let it down badly.

Sorry to read your comments, this is the first time it’s been mentioned by any guests. We were not aware that Lakelovers had had to fix a toilet seat, and have not had any notification of this, so apologies if this was the case. Hopefully the rest of your stay was enjoyable. Kind regards, Simon and Sally Property Owner

Lots of flies inside not sure where they kept coming from but not a major issue. Gate down the side needs repairing as one of our dogs escaped and got out through the neighbours fence, I know I should have checked before letting them out but didn't notice the gate was laying on the floor. Despite rain each day we had a great relaxing time thank you.

One duvet cover was msmelling of heating oil. We had to rewash and dry all linen. Otherwise the cottage was truly wonderful.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay at Felldale. We were unaware of the issues that you mentioned regarding the bedding. The standard of cleaning is usually very high with our cleaners this year, had we been made aware of the issues during your stay, we would have attended to resolve the issues. Lovely couple of pubs and restaurants nearby. Felldale is a lovely cottage and in the winter the fire in the lounge is excellent and very welcoming. We would heartilly recommend staying at Felldale whether you are doing some serious walking in the area or just visiting to see the sights. Plenty of room for six with good facilities.

  • "We had a lovely week at Felldale."

The pictures on the website did not do the place justice, the views were stunning and the walks really were right from the front door. The beds were comfy and the showers always hot. The access was tight and I was glad my husband was braver than me getting the car up the narrow lane and very thankful we hadn't brought our van as I don't think we would have managed to reach the property. It was a shame the cleaners were only just arriving as our party arrived and luckily the weather was kind enough for our entry into the property to be postponed an hour but this was possibly the reason the place was not as clean as we might have expected. The oven had not been cleaned and I think the main issue with the carpets is that the hoover bag needed replacing. Overall we had a gorgeous stay and I would not hesitate to book again.

  • "Felldale is a beautiful house where we had a lovely winter break."

The real fire in the lounge was very warming and really appreciated. Being able to walk such lovely places straight from the door is amazing. We had two minor suggested improvements to make. The first is a bigger teapot would be really useful and also one bigger pan. We had four people in the party so it was not really a problem. With a party of 6 it would have been more noticeable. Thank you for our stay at your lovely property.

The view of the mountains from the front of the property is better than the listing photos. Nice walks directly from the property. Nature on the doorstep - red squirrel and rabbits in the garden, martins nesting over the door, pied flycatchers, swallows, woodpecker and a sparrowhawk. The property was peaceful, surprisingly spacious, quite well equipped, with comfortable beds. Our only negative was the flies in the property when we initially arrived - but it is the countryside, just take some fly spray.

About the location

ULLSWATER

Ullswater is generally considered to encompass three major villages. This includes Glenridding at the south and Pooley Bridge at the north. The second largest lake, at approximately 7.5 miles wide, Ullswater is often regarded as the most beautiful lake in the district. There is dramatic mountain scenery to the south, as well as the gentle hills of the north. This region is popular among walkers, climbers and cyclists of all levels of ability. There are various water sports for all abilities too and lots of family activities. Along with historical sites of interest, Ullswater has a strong nautical history, having been a popular sailing destination for centuries. There are marinas placed all around the lake. Plus a wide range of superb eateries and shops, sure to delight!
Also, on the west side of the lake is the beautiful Aira Force Waterfall. It is one of the National Park’s most popular natural tourist attractions. Glenridding is a particularly popular tourist attraction with mountain walkers. They visit the village to scale England’s third highest peak, Helvellyn.
