  • "This property was perfect."

Great location for walking with and without a car and also for the steamer which was well worth using to get to certain locations. Very well equipped for a group that enjoyed lots of self catering. Able to make use of the outside space as the weather so lovely One thought is whilst we always closed the gates when we were out for security we soon realised it might be more about stopping stray cows coming in on their way with the farmer. We watched a farmer close them on our behalf!

It was very comfortable and beautifully clean, well equipped and the views superb.

  • "It’s a great house with lots of lovely features however it’s generally getting a bit tired with cracked and loose tiles in multiple areas (which I think is a safety issue with sharp edges on the floor)."

Kitchen equipment lacking a few essentials (small fry pan, bread knife). No music speakers that I could find.

  • "We have just arrived home after 3 nights in this wonderful house, I personally holiday frequently in the lakes, usually in a caravan with the kids in tow!"

This was for a special occasion shared with friends so to find this house was perfect, the location is absolutely second to none with views out of most windows of the Lake, we were paddleboarding on Ullswater Saturday morning, having dinner in the restaurant at Another Place just down the road, Alpaca trekking around Derwent water and having Sunday lunch at the Ullswater Inn in Glenridding. The house itself had huge amounts of space, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, the beds and bedding were the most comfiest and luxurious I’ve ever slept on! The kitchen is a huge WOW with everything you could possible need for a relaxing weekend away. I could honestly type for ages about how much of a lovely stay we had, thank you so much. We cannot wait to stay again and I’ll be telling all my friends and family about it.

Julia (the owner) was extremely accommodating and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this property. Thank you for such a wonderful weekend, it made my husbands 50th birthday celebration perfect!

Thank you for choosing our cottage to celebrate your husbands 50th birthday and for your lovely review. We hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful location."

Amazing and spacious property. Beds very comfortable. BUT thick dust on top of bedroom shelving/wardrobes. Which were used to store our things. Upstairs ensuite toilet lid, loose and needs replacing. Downstairs bathroom Toilet bowl is loose and wobbles. Downstairs ensuite very strong damp aroma. We had 4 couples and requested all beds be made up as doubles, but twin bedrooms were left as twins. We didn't report this, as didn't want to take the gloss off our holiday. But maybe for the next guests , more attention to detail would be good.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry you had issues with dust and the toilets, both of which our caretaker has now addressed. The twin beds were pushed together to make a double bed as requested, we do however continue to use the single bedding on the beds which is where the confusion may have been. We hope you enjoyed your stay despite this. David and Julia Property Owner

  • "Lovely property."

Shame about the flies. Wasn't able to prepare/cook food due to the flies. Decided to leave the property after 3 days and return home. Not what you expect from a property costing this much. This was supposed to be a treat holiday as we don't normally spend this amount on accommodation. Very disappointing.

We are sorry to hear you cut short your stay at Lake View. You didn’t inform anyone of this decision or of any problems you had. We are not aware of an issue with flies at the property although your stay did coincide with very warm weather and no doubt windows open. We are not able to control flies coming into the house in these circumstances but we certainly could have provided items to help if we had known. Our housekeeper did not find many flies when she cleaned later in the week so I am sorry for your experience earlier although it was out of our control. Property Owner

There’s plenty of internal space - ideal for two families sharing, since there are two bedroom ‘wings’ on either side of a large kitchen/sitting room/dining room plus another spacious and very comfortable sitting/ television room. Highly recommended.

Isabel , So pleased you and your family enjoyed your stay . As you say - ideal for two families due to the lay out . Greeatblication and views. Hope to see you again soon Property Owner

The cottage is beautiful with everything needed for a perfect stay. More than enough bathrooms. Everything was quality. Views of the lake and mountains from the snug were breathtaking. Aura Force waterfall is a beautiful walk 15 minutes away and Pooley bridge is 10 minutes the other way. I would highly recommend this property!

Great location and lovely views of the lake. The house would benefit from a room to leave (and dry) muddy boots and wet outdoor clothing.

  • "The holiday was booked for 4 of us."

But unfortunately 1 of our group was ill and unable to join us. However we loved the house, truly luxurious in all the rooms. Beautiful views over Ullswater Lake. Everything had been thought of, from the comfortable sitting room to the massive kitchen, dining room with sofas. The bedrooms were very comfortable and we all slept well. The only noise was the gentle Baa’s from the sheep! We were out and about every day. Highlights were the afternoon on the Ullswater Steamer, very relaxing. Ambleside was a lovely town to go and visit. We so hope to meet up at the house again, great place to make lovely memories!

I hadn't fully appreciated that there would be a fine view of Ullswater from the garden and upstairs bedroom. The kitchen/living area was spacious and the lounge a very comfortable space. It was clean and tidy upon arrival, and all the amenities worked fine. It really suited us to stay here for a week as an extended family; many thanks and congratulations to the owner!

Excellent location and really well equipped. It was a perfect setting for our four generations get together because of the two bedrooms downstairs. Four bathrooms are a great idea. Cosy and comfortable and very well prepared. I left a coat in the cottage cloak cupboard and Sykes contacted me to arrange its return. I was very impressed. I was also impressed with the Sykes booking process.

  • "This is a very beautiful house with fantastic views from the kitchen, dining area and lounge across to the lake and mountains."

The modern design and facilities are like something from 'Ideal Home' yet we immediately felt comfortable and relaxed. It is furnished to the highest standards. We loved the big live-in kitchen and the separate lounge. Great bathrooms and showers. Few very minor suggestions such as a BBQ and some partial screening for the outside table from the road. The location is great especially if you like to be away from the crowds. Views are fantastic. The pub almost next door is handy with fun pub quiz yet doesn't impact in terms of noise at all. In terms of value for money, the price we paid was just right. A great holiday. Would definitely consider staying again.

Thank you so much for your feedback! The owner takes a great deal of pride and time in making sure the property is offered at its very best. Property Owner

About the location

WATERMILLOCK

Pooley Bridge 2.5 miles; Glenridding 6.2 miles; Penrith 8.5 miles.

The elevated scattered village of Watermillock runs parallel to the main road alongside Ullswater Lake and is mainly a farming community. Just 2.5 miles away is Pooley Bridge with its array of amenities which sits on the northern shore of the lake in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley originated due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed. Glenridding (meaning glen overgrown with bracken) is a small tourist village with a range of local shops, cafes and restaurants. There are numerous walks with breathtaking views nearby, plus a short walk up to Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains, whilst the towns of Penrith and Keswick are within driving distance. Watermillock is an ideal base for a cottage holiday stay in the stunning Lake District.
