  • "Perfect on all levels!"

We all had a fantastic week that we made the most of in the mixed weather conditions there in the south lakes. Just to inform, we would however have also used the nicer outdoor seats in the barn, but they were locked up. This is not a slight on a fantastic stay though. We were very appreciate of the firewood supplied too and when we called you, the sincere concern and help when the downstairs shower failed, enabling us to rapidly remedy the situation. Thankyou.

Where you’ll be staying

NEWBY BRIDGE

Bowness-on-Windermere 8 miles.

The small village of Newby Bridge takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Visit the Lakeside Hotels and enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally themed habitats, bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, plus the picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and admire the views at nearby Gummer's How.
