  • "Not suitable for dogs."

. disappointed.. garden insecure, this needs to be stated.. and there was no garden!! Just a Front yard and not secure.

Thank you for your feedback. The outside space is shown clearly in the photos. Most of our guest bring dogs and never had any issues. There’s plenty of walks from the door, but I wouldn’t expect dogs or children to be left unattended in the outside space. It’s not reasonable to expect this in someone else’s property. • "A lovely place to stay."

A charming cottage style. Very clean & tidy with great comfortable beds. Waking in the morning and looking out the window at amazing scenery. Had breakfast outside on the table overlooking the countryside, what a great start to any day. This place had everything you could need for your stay. Roadside parking was no problem.

Thank you for your feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is situated in a really lovely spot."

Great views of the countryside front and back. The cottage itself is pleasant and reasonably furnished. Parking is a real problem. Only two decent spaces on the road outside and both of these are used by the neighbouring cottage. You are dependant on the neighbour’s goodwill to get a space. Without it you are parking a little way away on the roadway. The book of instructions in the cottage desperately needs updating. Currently it refers to equipment (such as the TV) which is not in use. There is a good shower but visitors need to know to ignore the fact that it appears slow to empty; if left it does so in time and, despite appearances, does not flood. Owners were very helpful when we raised the various problems with them on our arrival.

  • "The property is lovely in a beautiful position and part of a very friendly village."

It had all the mod cons needed for a pleasant stay. Decoration in the house is lovely and it is well maintained. If you have any mobility issues, this is not the house for you - due to the steps up to the house (no handrail), the steep internal stairs and no access to close parking (as the neighbour constantly has a van, a car and a motorbike in the parking area opposite the house). The details provided in the house relating to general procedures are out of date - everything refers to Covid 19 and lockdown. Laundry procedures and bin collection responsibilities etc., require a clearer explanation.

  • "The cottage was as described, very welcoming and comfortable, very clean and tidy ."

The kitchen has every thing we needed and more besides. The bedrooms were very comfortable and large enough for our needs. The bathroom was very good and clean. The only catch indie the cottage was that none of the bedroom doors could be closed as all the door handles and locks were either damaged or falling apart. The bathroom door was the only door that fastened properly but the did have a 2 inch gap at the bottom of the door, also the water pump in this room was extremely load and seemed to rattle throughout the house. The only other 2 things was the steep steps outside could do with a hand rail as they are very sloppy when wet or frozen. And the parking was bad as the neighbour had parked his van,car and motorbike outside so I had to park further down the road. I would still recommended the cottage as these things can be fixed , as for the location it was perfect , peaceful with very stunning views and central to all locations. We loved it and would go here again.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We are always looking to improve guests stay. As ongoing maintenance we have planned to replace the internal doors this season, but short term will look at the closing mechanisms. We are also looking into soundproofing solutions for the water pump. The neighbour prefers to park his van along the road so usually you can park opposite the cottage. The parking is not exclusively for the cottage as it is roadside and public access. We have never had any problems parking our large vehicle a few yards down the road. I also accept that some people would prefer a handrail for outside steps and will make provisions for this in the future. Property Owner

  • "We had a delightful week in this pristine cottage."

The property is very well maintained and you want for nothing, everything has been catered for and then some. So comfortable and you feel so t home from the minute you walk through the door. There is nothing that has not been thought of and provided. It is a semi-detached property and the family next door are absolutely lovely, helpful and friendly. The views out of the windows are beautiful and there are plenty of walks to do out in the beautiful scenery. St John's Chapel is minutes away and the beautiful mountain tops of Langdon Beck, their hotel is wort a visit. We had a Sunday lunch there. Can not wait to return to 2 Holme Pool. 5***** Thank you for the joy ! Carole and Phil Washington, Tyne and Wear October 2022

  • "This a nice quiet off grid location and a great base to explore Hadrians Wall."

It did say parking was available, but it’s hit and miss as the neighbours have 2 vehicles and a motorcycle and they occupy the pull in too, just past the house. I’d read from other renters that you can park 200 yards down the road, which is no hardship, but when I went to get the car on the second day, one of the locals gave me a hard time for parking where I had. Also, whilst walking to the car with the 2 dogs, I was trying to move to one side to make room, but the car did not slow down and clipped the bigger dog and brushed past the other. I don’t think “strangers” are particularly welcome.

Sorry to hear you struggled to park - for the last ten years we have always been able to park within 10m of the front door on the verge where the road widens slightly. I have to say we have always found the local people to be more than friendly, and they are very aware of dogs as sheepdogs often guide flocks of sheep up and down the road outside. Unfortunately you get careless or irresponsible road users wherever you happen to be, and this is something that is not within our control. Property Owner

Excellent facilities and the owner has thought of everything to give it a personal touch to your stay. Lovely comfortable beds and quality bedding, plenty of towels and amazing shower. Fully equipped kitchen with everything you need and loved the wood burner in the lounge. Just one minus, there wasn't a back garden for our dogs, but as you're surrounded by beautiful countryside it's not a big deal as there are loads of great walks to go on. Short driving distance to High Force, Stanhope and Wolsingham. Would definitely recommend. We loved it, as did our 2 pugs, Lulu and Peggy.

  • "Because there is no bath, this was not a property we would have chosen."

However, our original choice was not able to accommodate us and we were forced to look elsewhere at short notice. What a gem! This old cottage has been beautifully restored, was warm, comfortable and well equipped. Very often holiday cottages are full of ornaments and soft furnishings that are not at all to our taste. This had a few but they were not overwhelming. As vegetarians, we sometimes find that the oven/grill reeks of meat fat, a most unpleasant experience every time we turn on the cooker. Not so here, where excellent cleaning had taken place. The view is fantastic and the neighbours friendly. Altogether to be recommended.

The weather was against us, but Alexis was very helpful & made sure we knew what was happening in the area. The cottage is lovely & so comfortable. Views from the windows overlooking the river and farmers fields. Our cockapoo, Dougie, absolutely loved gazing out of the window at the sheep ❤️. A short walk either across the fields or along the road to St John’s Chapel with the local Coop & pubs. There’s a new central heating system which was having a few teething problems but Alexis dealt with it extremely quickly & we were cosy again in no time. Totally recommend!

The bathroom was clearly new and the shower was great!. Large comfortable bed with quality bed linen in main bedroom and twin beds ideal if you were taking kids. Although parking directly outside was an issue, there's plenty of space a matter of 30 meters further up the track. The views are stunning and we had lovely walks. The owner Alexis was very helpful. The property is really nice and well equipped, the owners are helpful, the neighbours are friendly and helpful and the local people are all friendly. We used the cottage as a base to visit some of the surrounding beauty spots and it was also well located for walks straight from the door. The only downside was the parking, which wasn't too bad. We parked a few hundred meters up the road where the road was quite wide as the farmers were hay bailing when we arrived and with the large trailers we decided to stay safe for the week and get the extra exercise. It wasn't a major problem though.

  • "Unfortunately the bathroom was supposed to have been refitted but work was not complete."

The owner was very helpful but I’m surprised it was completely refitted so close to a booking. Also the house is not really suitable for 4 adults due to the incredibly low ceiling in the twin room. The rubbish is a problem as you are supposed to put the large wheelie bin down 8 steep stone steps to have it emptied. Unsurprisingly this had not been done for a very long time so the rubbish bin was overflowing. This is a problem that needs solving. The parking is not really off road and with large farm vehicles constantly using the very narrow Lane, rather worrying. We learnt that the neighbour has had his vehicle damaged several times. Beautiful location but with issues that need solving
