"What an absolute treat it was to stay at Oxen Fell!"
The cottage was cosy, clean and comfortable and it felt like the owners had thought of everything. We stayed with our 18month toddler and our dog and the space worked really well. The setting was idyllic. We didn’t want to leave and we hope to come back!

"We had a brilliant week with our two small children in Oxen Fell cottage."
It had everything we needed and felt very homely. The cottage is in the perfect spot for some lovely short walks, is only a quick stroll to the pub, and we loved the peace of the valley

"Lovely little cottage in Little Langdale."
For the price it was good value and we were appreciative because we had booked it last minute. The location is good for exploring the local walks and hills such as Lingmoor. It also was very well located for some great mountain bike routes that I am familiar with. Well equipped kitchen. Beds were very comfy. Useful bike store which just about squeezed two mountain bikes. A few small points that could easily be fixed: I would ask that the owners get a new TV. The TV appears to be over 10 years old and is a bit small and with poor sound quality. In my view there is no excuse for this at all. Please also get more crockery. There is a full size dishwasher so it could easily fit 3 meals worth. Having only 6 plates and limited cutlery means the dishwasher needs to go on after every meal. At one point we had a few friends pop round but there was not even one plate each. I got the feeling that the owners didn't really want people in their cottage as there were about 20 little notes all round the cottage, giving various instructions. I can see the merit for some but others like telling you how to open a blind, reminding you to close the shower door, or why the freezer might rattle, were a bit unnecessary. Two little points which the owners perhaps can't easily fix is that there is no parking and it can be very difficult to park near the cottage during the day. Early morning and after about 5pm it is fine. Unlikely to be a reality but a residents parking system with a pass to put in the window would solve this. The walls feel rather thin so sound does carry around the cottage. WiFi is not great for obv reasons, but does the basics and just about powered Netflix. No mobile signal at all in the area.

"My second stay in this perfectly located cottage."
It has everything that you need for the perfect Lake District Holiday. I will be returning for a third time in 2023.

"Lovely cottage, everything we needed and more."
Such a stunning view with beautiful walks literally on your doorstep.

"Being in the same business I appreciate the challenges of maintaining a property to a high standard especially a dog friendly cottage."
So overall I would say the owners do a good job. It is a stunning location and we had a great holiday. Areas for the cleaners to focus on - oven, shower screen limescale (not too bad but could be better). Food was left in the freezer - cleaners to check freezer (no big deal though). The owners may not know that the dishwasher is loose because it has not been correctly fitted - there should be supporting brackets screwed to the worktop. Easy to fix.

"A lovely Cumbrian cottage, ideally situated for hikers and bikers with many walks and rides immediately accessible from the front door."
The accommodation has every amenity and was very comfortable. We wanted for nothing. Parking arrangements were not perfect but perfectly adequate (a few meters from the the front gate). The mains water was delightful to drink and contributed to the best sourdough loaf we have ever baked! We will happily return.

"This is the second time we have stayed here and like the first we really enjoyed it."
A few little issues Dishwasher did not drain (Outlet possibly blocked) didn't bother us so we just washed up Towel rads in bathrooms didn't come on despite playing with settings Tumble drier takes forever to dry clothes. Took us 4hrs on the high setting. Not a problem for us but with energy prices rising possibly a more efficient one that dries quicker? Apart from that we had a great stay and would certainly use again

"Lovely warm cosy cottage with walks in every direction from the cottage."
-
"It was a lovely cottage, in a lovely location, however I would think twice about booking it again due to the parking issues."
Thank you for your comments. There is roadside parking near the cottage (either a good number of spaces a little further down the road or several spaces before you get to the cottage). We have never had a problem parking in all the times we have been here. Little Langdale is very beautiful and there may be occasions when it is difficult to park during very busy times, but this would only ever be between mid morning and mid afternoon. There are hardly any self-catering cottages in Little Langdale, so parking could never be an issue late afternoon/evening or early morning. Property Owner

About the location
LANGDALE
Ambleside 5.6 miles; Coniston 7.3 miles; Grasmere 9.7 miles.
Often referred to as Great Langdale, to distinguish it from nearby Little Langdale, Langdale's name comes from the Old Norse for 'long valley'. Langdale is a u-shaped valley formed by glaciers. It encompasses the two villages of Chapel Stile and Elterwater, as well as the hamlet of High Close. Set in the centre of the Lake District, Langdale is probably best known for its mountains, from the Langdale Pikes – a group of mountains on the northern side of the village – to England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. Rock climbers will also love Raven Crag, Gimmer Crag and White Ghyll. There Not surprisingly Langdale is also famous for it’s spectacular views, including Dungeon Ghyll Force Waterfall, Harrison Stickle and Pike of Stickle. it is an extremely popular holiday destination and loved by hikers, climbers, fell runners and lovers of the outdoors in general.
