  • "A wonderful stay in a cosy, warm, welcoming cottage in the heart of the Lakes, a long with a lovely welcome package and a bottle of prosecco upon arrival."

The owners have clearly thought of all of the finer details to make each guests stay as comfortable and homely as possible. The garden was a delight for our dog, from previous stays in the Lakes at other properties we have found it difficult to find a house so close to Windermere with a garden. The owners communication throughout our stay was impeccable, no faults! We will be returning to Brook Cottage for sure.

  • "Had a fabulous week in Brook Cottage, we struggled to find it initially but a quick phone call to Iain and he guided us directly to it, he kept in touch to make sure everything was ok for us."

Would wholly recommend the cottage for location and amenities nearby. Ten out of ten.

  • "Fantastic property, enclosed garden and cottage were both well maintained and we appreciated the tea/coffee, washing consumables that were left for us at the property."

It was a perfect base to explore the Lake District, plus short and easy walk into town where there is a coop and Sainsbury’s. Pillows weren’t firm enough for us so we used cushions and the rugs in the bedrooms were slippy against the wooden flooring so tucked them under the beds. Overall, one of the best properties we have stayed in. Would definitely return.

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Brook Cottage. We're glad that the cottage and garden met your expectations, and that you found the location convenient for exploring the Lake District. We appreciate your feedback regarding the pillows. We've checked the pillows, and they seem fine. It might be a personal preference, but we'll keep monitoring reviews for further feedback. We also apologise for any inconvenience caused by the rugs. We've taken steps to address this issue and will ensure that the rugs are secured to prevent slipping. Thank you again for choosing Brook Cottage. We hope to welcome you back in the future Owner Relations Team. Property Owner

  • "A warning. This property is not dog friendly."

If you leave any dog hairs visible to the naked eye, you will be charged for a deep clean by the owners. The same with any wear and tear living on any piece of furniture. Rather than just being cleaned by hand, it will be deemed necessary to strip off all the covers and sent away at great cost to you. If you rent out a dog friendly property, when you go out walking every day (in the rain on some days) you can't expect it to be pristine after a week in the Lake District. A shame really as it is a nice cottage. Just owners who have unrealistic ideas of renting a property!

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We would like to reiterate that Brook Cottage is most definitely a dog friendly property, with 85 % of our bookings this year have been with pets. This is the first time that we have had to charge guests for how the property was left. Upon your departure it was reported to us that we would need to replace both the quilt and quilt cover as our cleaner was unable to remove the mud and blood stains, and the sofa covers had to be washed to ensure cleanliness for our next guests. We are sorry that you felt disappointed by this action, but these actions were undertaken after attempts to remove the stains. We hope that you will return to the Lakes again. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cosy cottage, cute and well tended little garden."

Both bedrooms are spacious. Even on a very wet week, the cottage felt very confortable. It’s well located with shops and restaurants nearby. The pub just down the road is great. There is a short walk to Brant Fell with amazing views of the lake.

Perfect for our small family & little pooch. Garden is secure and well maintained so safe for our dog. Perfect location for local walks, with shops & food places in Windemere only 5 mins away & Bowness within 15 mins. A lovely stay in The Lakes.

  • "We have just had a lovely three night break to Brook Cottage which we both enjoyed and would not hesitate to go back if we could get the same last minute break at a good price."

There was plenty of space for us both and the dog but four adults may find space a bit tight. Fine for a family of four with two young children. There was a couple of small maintenance problems and no off road parking which it states there is in the prospectus for the cottage. Although a little welcome pack with essentials in would have been nice it was a clean cottage with everything you could need, tucked away from the main areas of Windermere, for a good break.

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased that you have a lovely stay at Brook Cottage. We have taken care of the maintenance issues that you mentioned - had we been aware of these during your stay we would have happily sent our maintenance team to address these during your stay. Regrettably Brook Cottage does only have roadside parking which is referred to in the description. We hope that this did not detract from your stay and hope that you will return again in the future. Key safe was easy to find and checking in was no problem at all. We were greeted with a welcome box of tea, coffee and biscuits, and even a bottle of champagne with a message wishing my wife a happy 40th birthday. Communication with Ian and Joanne was very easy and friendly. We loved our stay there, but we wish it could’ve been longer than two nights. We will definitely check availability. Next time we are visiting the area.
